Yes but they are not stupid people. They are not going to come right out and say what they are about or who they really work for. They will continue to do as they have always done, being subtle as the snake. I sometimes wonder what Our Lord and Our Blessed Lady think of all this as they look down on us from heaven? The goodness knows I am upset about it enough about it myself and I love the Church. But what does Mary , Mother of the Church make of it all? Her heart must be broken. More than this the Holy Angels, utterly outraged and furious must be DEMANDING that the hand of Justice Fall. In fact this is recounted in the Book of Revelation. In fact one mystic recounts that the time will come when the Mother of God herself will go before the Throne of God and ask for Justice. That time cannot be far off. I more and more think this years is the year when things will kick off. This horrifying deconstruction began after Vatican II. I remember when I would enter a Catholic Church after the demolition of the altar, the statues, the confessional etc. to "update" the "structure" and be unable to find the Tabernacle. I felt like Mary Magdalen searching for the Lord and not knowing where they took him that first Easter morning. Sacred Space that resonated with centuries of holiness, now was bleached of everything. It became the equivalent of an Elks Club meeting hall. But because the essential words of Mass were still in tact, I knew Jesus was there. Another aberration of that time was the diminishing of the Blessed Mother. Priests did not want to hear about the Rosary or Eucharistic Adoration. They felt--many of them--that devotion to Our Mother was a cult and had to be discouraged. Now, at the time I said to myself, hmmm. Who stands to gain by watering down the Mass and removing the Blessed Mother--the two "pillars" St. John Bosco saw in his dream. Doesn't take brain surgeons to figure it out. But then we had JPII and grace seemed to return. BXVI continued the reconstruction, may God bless him. But here we are today in another wave--as I see it--of diminishment of Christ's actual Presence with us in the Holy Eucharist. Where will it lead? I don't know. Intercession and fasting in the USA held off a cataclysm this election cycle because God was merciful to us. Perhaps if Catholics around the world pour out the same fervor and sacrifice God will have mercy on us for the Bride of Christ--as it says in the Old Testament-"He may still relent." But as we know our Holy Catholic Church is full of those who make compromises with evil and have for many years--I have a number of Catholic friends who are very supportive of 'a woman's right to choose' and 'gay marriage' and go up to Communion at every Mass. I see many Catholics on Sunday who take Holy Communion, pop it in their mouths and head right out the door. They simply cannot understand--I hope--what and Who they have just received. I try to make reparation to Our Lord as best I can. But I myself make my own compromises--to my shame. I give in to laziness and the little pleasures of good food and drink. I am guilty of many idle conversations and idle words. I don't speak up when I should to family and friends because I fear the horrific backlash I would receive when I used to do it-- and in fear of driving friends and family further away I remain silent and make Holy Hours. I don't know if this a cop out or not. I suspect its cowardice and it makes me shudder. Bottom line, our wonderful true Church has been under judgement since 1960 and we're not through with it yet it would seem. God graced us with two wonderful Popes in JPII and BXVI. I am not prepared to say Pope Francis is not the Pope. Nor do I wish in any way to be uncharitable to him. He has my prayers and my earnest desire for his sanctification. I am no sedevacantist. I wait upon the Lord. I wait soberly and prayerfully. I hope for the best and I prepare for the worst.

I know I keep referencing Malachi Martin but he said many years ago to Bernard Janzen, trying to explain priests and prelates who were allowing terrible things to happen: "They have lost their faith. It's a simple explanation but it's the true one. If you lose your faith, do you know you've lost it? No. Of course not. You think those who cling to these outmoded beliefs are medieval. And once you've lost your faith it is very difficult to get it back. Perhaps Christ might give you a passing a look but He might not." Chilling words. I've never forgotten them.
Yes, its far, far worse for a priest or prelate to lose his Faith than for a lay person , when you think of it. For a priest Faith in the mass is central you loose this you loose the whole foundations and meaning of your life. So a priests life needs to be one of constant prayer to fuel their faith. But there lives are so busy... So they replace Faith with new Faiths, Faith in politics, in sociology, in Psychology, in New Age and so on. No prayer, no Faith.
In all those years fighting pedophilia in the church I found that if people lost their faith they filled it with "social justice". This is not to say that social justice is not part of being catholic but that it dominates the person's outlook. I am reminded of the parable of Martha and Mary where Martha (social justice) is complaining about Mary (truth and law) not doing anything and Jesus replies "she has chosen the better half". One can not ignore one or the other and if social justice (communism/liberation theology) dominates it is a sign of a lessening/loss of faith.
What you have stated is what I feel as well. A constant watering down of the sacred for appeasement to the world. The thing about family that you mentioned, is felt by many who want to uphold the faith. The challenge is that our kids, relatives and friends are hearing the opposite by the fun materialistic world we are subjected to. The truth is no fun! What's appealing is the things of this world, which cell phones IMO is at the heart of their loves. As far as what we can do? I have taken most everything to prayer and fasting. Doubled down on the daily rosary and only speak when ears are open to hear. I have tried hard over the past decades to speak the faith to others, but only a few have wanted to listen. So, prayer it is, until God interveins and wakes the slumber out of family and friends.
Yes, the devil usually does not tempt us with evil for evil's sake but evil with a mask of goodness. What people in the Church are being tempted too at the moment is a , 'Merciful' Church. But it is a false mercy. It twists, 'mercy', to such an extent that there is no, 'Justice', nor is there an objective wrong. Objective truth is meaningless, subjective apprehension is all. Since God is a God of love and mercy no matter how we fall , what we do wrong all we be forgiven since we apprehend it to be right. All becomes swirling smoke and mirrors. All religions are the same since we all Worship the same God. All people are basically good and well meaning. We as a species are progressing to Unity and Good. Evil is illusional. We only make mistakes. It is basically the Masonic Doctrine of Building the New Garden of Eden, the New Babel. It is not a New Dream but goes right back to the French Revolution. It is merely a rehash. During the French Revolution they created a new Faith which is exactly is what is being forged at the moment. This was called , 'The Cult of Reason' .
