Josephite, I am so sorry to hear this news. I will be praying for the congregation of this church.

I am not so sure, I think a persecution could happen faster than we think. I think these people who repealed the 8th are primed and ready to go. As they celebrate their victory, there are many comments on twitter that are even more openly critical and aggressive towards the Catholic church and its members than what it was before they won.

I done some canvassing in Dublin city in the few weeks running up to the referendum, and I can honestly say that these people who campaigned to repeal the 8th are capable of violence. Though given the fact that they can kill an unborn child with no remorse, that is not too much of a surprise. But on one occasion there was an old woman with us handing out leaflets against abortion and one of the yes supporters stubbed a cigarette out on her hand as they walked by. Other women were spat at in the face, shoved and cursed at. I had a few of them screaming in my face, and a few occasions where I thought they were going to punch me. There is a definite rage that has taken hold of them. I am also guilty of getting angry a few times and shouted back because the thoughts of abortion deeply angered me, I know I may keep my peace in future. Of all the people wearing yes badges, when questioned on why they support the murder of children in the womb many of them would reply with angry hateful comments towards the church. But I don't think the church ever harmed most of them, they just hate the church because it stands against the immorality which they love.

Unfortunately as you have all seen from the pics of them celebrating, they are full of confidence now, and some of them are openly saying that ridding the church from schools is next. Others saying to get rid of the angelus from radio, and some saying that Iona institute should be dealt with. Hopefully their hateful comments settle in the coming days but I will not be at all surprised if some of them physically attack the church during their celebrations.

Given all the blasphemies they have committed during their campaign, I would also be equally unsurprised if God sends a severe chastisement on this country within the next few days or weeks. Though maybe God will send a strong warning first.

I heard archbishop Eamonn Martin being interviewed on Rte today. What an appalling wishy washy response from him. I intend to email him tomorrow to strenuously object to his attitude of appeasment. God help us if this is the leadership we are going to get. I feel like leaving the church and going inti isolation.

There is definitely a strong demonic element in all this undoubtedly hence the rage you sadly bore the brunt of. And there may be isolated nasty incidents going forward. I expect the enemies of Christ will feel emboldened and the things of God such as the Angelus and any Catholic presence in the public square will be squeezed more and more in the short and medium term. But as far as widespread physical persecution I don’t see it in the short and medium term. Long term yes. Undoubtedly, sadly. But can you imagine the reaction if mass goers were rounded up into camps? The sight of largely older, and among them many grey haired folks being harmed is dreadful PR and not very
“progressive”. It wouldn’t make sense. I’m not saying it couldn’t happen at this stage. It could but it is unlikely I feel. I think one will see the ‘from murmur to murder’ phenomenon/scenario playing out. This takes time. But whatever happens, God is in control and His Will will be done.

This horrifying Immaculata but not surprising. We get this sometimes praying in front of the abortion clinic. They are driven by a rage that surpasses ordinary anger.

No Julia, I’m not reeling from the result. I fully expected it and was not surprised, sadly. Saddened, but not reeling and I’m not scrabbling about trying to rationalise it. I know why the vote went as it did. I don’t like the result but I fully anticipated it. The writing has been on the wall a long time. Yes Ireland has produced great Saints and has sent missionaries around the globe. Ireland has had a glorious past in terms of service to the Catholic Church and the people of God. I would never deny this nor would I malign the faith filled and generous souls who have given all for God who hailed from Ireland. But we cannot dine out on that forever as they say.

Frank Duff who I referenced loved God and Our Lady passionately and founded the legion of Mary. When he speaks I listen. I regard him as a prophetic voice. I don’t have the article he wrote to hand but it may be available via a google search. To admit there were serious problems does not mean I impugn the good and faithful people of Ireland nor do I deny their generosity or love of God and neighbor. I am Irish and love the country, it’s people and Church. But I respect and agree with Frank Duff’’s analysis. It is very prescient in hindsight and chilling. But as they say there’s no use crying over spilled milk.

Everyone could I imagine give a long list of factors as to why we are here today. We need to understand this in order to learn from it. But we must remain serene, unbowed and focus on the future, confident in the power and goodness of God. In the end ALL knees SHALL bow. So it is written so shall it be.

I couldn´t help notice that exactly two thirds voted YES while one third voted NO.

This eerily reminded me of Zechariah 13:8 (quoted below).

Was it a coincidence? A sign from God? Was the Irish referendum used by Heaven to send us a message about the end times?

8"It will come about in all the land," Declares the LORD,"That two parts in it will be cut off and perish; But the third will be left in it. 9"And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say, 'They are My people,' And they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"…

Just because Archbishop Eamonn Martin seems only a nominal member of the Church, Maryrose, is no reason for you to leave it. I saw that interview and had to leave the room in anger and disgust. He's the Primate of All-Ireland, but he's not the one being 'challenged', it is Christ who is. He should stop behaving like a politician and act like a bishop, outlining what is the teaching of his religion, regardless of whether most people wish to reject it or not.

There is a pathological hatred for the church in Ireland. For the young growing up in faithless households and fed garbage in catholic schools the church meant nothing more than a litany of no's toward the holy grails of sexual freedom, contraception, and its backup abortion.

There is so much to say here but I can't quite think clearly yet. We cannot underestimate the power of social media in this revolution that is happening begone our eyes. To be due it is decades long but it has do been accelerated these last few years that those used to old media are left dizzy and confused. A new order a new moral consensus has come into being as dear old Father Malachi said over 30 years ago. We have been caught up in the blood stained guilt of nations for many years we are perhaps a little blind thinking that the chickens would not come home to roost. We are no better than the rest. A shock to be sure but take heart also over 1 million of the electorate did not vote. And also thank God gor the DUP at least my beloved ulster remains largely free of the crazies for now. Apart from the heroics of donegal it is interesting also that cavan and monaghan were also pretty tight.

Stansted Airport was struck by lightning causing chaos with flights. Interestingly many Irish would have flown to Ireland from there to vote yes in the referendum. A sign?

France has been rocked by strikes, riots etc and now a huge wine growing area has been devastated by yesterday’s storm by huge hailstones wiping out billions of euros of crops leaving farmers devastated. In France only 2% of Catholics attend mass weekly. A sign?

I emailed the following people regarding the prayer vigil that I was trying to organise I will list them and their response I will let you all come to your own conclusions

    email response

    bishop noel treanor silence
    bishop eamon martin silence

    knights of colubanus silence
bishop donal Mckeown an email thanking and blessing my work and a promise to promote the vigil in donegal we all know what happened

my list could go on and on

brothers and sisters in Christ we have a battle sharpen your sword..

Then the beast was permitted to wage war against the saints and conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.

He who has an ear, let him hear.

“If anyone is destined for captivity,

    into captivity he will go;

If anyone is to die by the sword,

by the sword he must be killed.”

Here is a call for the perseverance and faith of the saints.

I read the Zerohedge site most days. It's a bit of a 'little boy crying wolf' site, almost daily prophesying financial armageddon. Nevertheless, even a stopped clock is right twice a day, as the saying goes, and there certainly seem to be so many strains and cracks in world financial systems, with unimaginable debts and gambles by nation-states and banks, not to mention the EU itself, that it is difficult to believe that the whole house of cards can continue indefinitely. We had a foretaste ten years ago, but the problems of credit and debt that existed then were papered over by increasing debt and providing yet cheaper credit. The indicators all seem far worse, now, and my opinion would be that what went before was a mere headcold and the forthcoming financial collapse will be, by comparison, more like the Black Death.

I'm at the point now that I can only say, Lord, bring it on.

Indeed, DeGaulle. I have had a very strong feeling for a long time that the EU/euro/Brexit will be our downfall. The euro and cheap credit built us up, but we have zero control on our currency and interest rate. The UK was our biggest ally in the EU. With them gone we are pretty insignificant. France and Germany are jealous of our corporate tax rate. If that goes we're finished as we are essentially a tax haven for most companies. There's also the issue of the North and the border...

I didn't hear the interview, Maryrose, because I've imposed a news blackout on myself to spare my blood pressure. I came across his and Archbishop Diarmuid Martin's statements online. The guy in Armagh is pathetic. The Dublin Archbishop's statement was better although nowadays when a member of the hierarchy says that Church teaching won't change that can mean the change is already in the planning. If it's any consolation to you and others who did the hard, thankless campaigning, I was at evening Mass in a city centre church and during prayers of the faithful we prayed that God will reward you all for working so hard to defend innocent life.

The result could have been a lot worse considering the pro-life side had all the forces of the State including all political parties along with the media and celebrities lined up against them. The Methodists are offering to help the Government form the abortion legislation. I hope our Church leaders don't go looking for a piece of that action. When I saw the Methodist statement I couldn't but wonder will they have a quota - a few thousand this year and a few more thousand next year until we're like the Dutch who have a low abortion rate probably because they've already killed off a couple of generations of their young.

Don't lose heart. God wins in the end.

And while my anger allows me I have a message for those people who stand with placards saying Northern Ireland is next as if they are standing in some pathetic unison with me, I have a question for their hypocrisy..

Where were you in 1922 when you sold us to the british
Where were you when my fellow true Irish men and women fought the good fight of a tyranny hell bent on suppressing our catholic faith,
Where were you when we called on you and you ignored us and rejected us as the dirty northerners,

and now you want to be our friends and join you in finishing off what the original tyranny wanted to achieve ?? the slaughter of irish men and women

I think there was some comment that many who opposed abortion would no longer be considered Irish?

I admire the ones out canvassing. Our Turn will come up here I suppose. I will take the two dogs with me.
