Call to Repentance Reprinted with kind permission from St. Joseph Publications from the book She Went in Haste to the Mountain (Book 1) NOTE: All excerpts from Conchita's Diary will be in extra-bold type * * * You should avoid the wrath of the Good God. — I want to tell you to amend your lives. — You should sacrifice yourself more. — Think of the Passion of Jesus. We provoke the wrath of God upon ourselves by our own rebellion, our own disobedience, our own self-will. All evil consists in trying to follow our own ways, instead of seeking the ways of God. Our ways are very easy to follow; it suffices to allow ourselves to be led. But ours are ways of sin — and not only the sin of the world that so many new books now propose — and they lead us to destruction. On the other hand, the ways of God, how difficult they can be at times! His are the ways of triumph and salvation; but they can only be traveled thru effort and sacrifice: two things that our weakened nature abhors. The world — men prone to serve the flesh — inclines to ease and not to combat, to pleasure and not to service, to leisure and not to work, to the good life and not to good living. This manner of living — spread throughout the Church — is inflicting mortal wounds. Pseudo-prophets, with their distorted nuances ranting about renewal and liberation, are attempting to discredit the ascetic and penitential way of life, as though asceticism were not an evangelical sign, but the despised remnant of a naive and misled monastic spirituality unworthy of esteem. Self sacrifice? Self denial? Self renunciation? How absurd! Neither the clergy nor the laity want any of this. Anti-asceticism is the order of the day. But for whom did Jesus say, If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross? (Mt. 16: 24)Certainly this is not for those who never mention Him except to speak about self-determination, self-fulfillment, self-advancement . . . Thus many things explain themselves. How could a person like this accept the message of June 18th that insistently requests things that they themselves are trying at all costs to renounce? — You should sacrifice yourself more. — Think of the Passion of Jesus. The Passion of Jesus! They are not interested in this. They are only interested in talking of things more to the liking of the man of today. For them the only things that matter are actions and words
Mary on Obedience The virtue of obedience is one of the greatest indicators for determining the authenticity of alleged apparitions. According to the Saints, it is the only virtue the devil cannot imitate (who, by his nature, is disobedient), and is therefore the hallmark of authentic apparitions. In the apparitions of Garabandal the examples of obedience are so numerous and varying, that one can say that it permeated from all facets of the girls' lives. Most notably, the Blessed Virgin instructed the children on the importance of obedience, especially to the Bishop. In fact, She told the children to obey the Bishop even before her; "She taught us to obey the Bishop before her." (Interview with Conchita, 1972). What is most striking, is even the Blessed Virgin Herself, in the apparitions, obeyed the commands of the bishop, as detailed in the account below; Conchita, interview, 1973: "At the beginning, we used to go into the Church (editor's note; The Blessed Virgin often led the girls into a local church, where She would recite the Rosary together with them). But then the people, because they wanted to be first when we extended our arms, would make a big disturbance. So the bishop said we could not go into the church anymore. Then the Virgin, from the time the bishop said not to go into the church, never would let us in there again." Conchita recounts that, from that day forward, the Blessed Virgin no longer entered the Church, but instead remained outside. The children learned from the example of the Virgin, and followed it themselves. The girls were not only obedient and docile to the bishops, but also to their parents, interrogations by doctors, physical exams, psychological tests, criticisms and slander, and so forth. They went along with everything imposed on them.
"LIVE THE MESSAGES !" At age 16 Conchita was already was spiritually wise: "There is no point in our believing in the apparitions if we do not heed the message." (Star on the Mountain, p. 118 ) “To guess at dates regarding the [prophesied] Miracle shows a lack of faith in the Blessed Virgin .Indeed, the energies expended on this are so much better spent on living the Message! “ March 2013 Glenn’s conversation with Conchita With all of the arguing over which of the different visionary’s is right, predicting dates, the future of our new Pope, the direction of the church, I've learned one thing, its all distracting, and detracting from our spiritual goals. The best advice I ever got was from Conchita ( when I asked her about the direction of all these things) ,she talked about what is most important,maintaining your spiritual life (Confession, penance ,mass, communion, the rosary, etc. ) and she said " I surround my self with good people, pray and don't worry " . ( Sounds like she took the advice of her friend Padre Pio )

TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: MAY 4, 1962 “ THE POPE IN RUSSIA, AT MOSCOW,THEN THE BEGINNING OF THE DIFFICULT PRE-AVISO PERIOD “ On that day, Mari-Loli and Conchita received new and prophetic revelations about the future tribulations of the brief but very difficult time of the “Pre-Aviso”( Pre-Warning) . Conchita also said during her ecstasy that “ Communism will also come back in Spain”. The Blessed Virgin also predicted to the visionary that “ the Pope would go to Russia, to Moscow”, a trip absolutely unthinkable in the political climate of the 1960’s. She also added among other important things, that “ As soon as the Sovereign Pontiff would return to the Vatican, successive violent persecutions would break out here and there in Europe”. These would be signs that the world, and particularly the Church (people would then believe that She will be on the point of disappearing, etc. ) were entering into the relatively short yet very difficult period of the Pre-Warning. IN TIME, MARY REVEALS ALL. I have a rarely heard story of Our Lady kissing a woman's powdercase (compact). We know most of the stories are about kissed religious objects. The reason I post this ( besides being a rarely heard story ) is that it reminds me of we don't always understand everything that happened at Garabandal , until later on. I think this story proves my point. Never question our Blessed Mother's intentions. One day Conchita was in the kitchen of her house surrounded by persons who were waiting for the moment of the apparition. On the simple table that served for the family meals, the objects that she was going to give to be kissed were being gathered. Together with these, someone had put there a stylish woman's powder case. The child and those present wanted this removed. How could the Virgin come to kiss an object so profane and used only for the service of vanity? Nevertheless, the powder case remained there. The ecstasy began and those present saw with astonishment that the visionary's hand, without her looking at it, before going to any other object, went first of all toward the previously discussed powder case. The child raised it toward the invisible Virgin and then set it down with great respect on the table. Among those present, surprise must have been mingled with doubt. Was it really the Virgin who was appearing? It didn't seem that she would kiss such an object . . . As soon as the ecstasy was finished, Conchita was asked for an explanation. And she declared that the Virgin had asked immediately for the powder case in order to kiss it, saying that it was something «belonging to her Son».The girl did not know anything more. But the person who had put the powder case there did know more and revealed the secret. During the terrible Spanish civil war (1936-1939) in the Red Zone when priests were being executed and had to be hidden, the powder case had been used to bring Communion Hosts to various locations and especially to prisoners whom the Reds held captive in order to execute. Thus it had served as a Pyx.
OUR BLESSED MOTHER'S VOICE IS HEARD ! August 4,1961 "The following day, when coming down from the pastures, my mother and I met my aunt Maximina Gonzalez, who was very excited and told us, "Do you know that the Virgin's voice has been heard on a tape recorder?" And I asked her, "What did She say? And She..." —Conchita's Diary We have additional details about this episode that Conchita mentions but did not witness, since she had to go far away from the village to the pastures to earn with difficulty her daily bread. It should not be imagined that the life of the visionaries had been changed into a continual celebration of wonders, or that due to the ecstasies they had been dispensed from all work and trouble. It was rather the contrary, and after many sleepless nights in vigils that could exhaust the strongest, they had to begin the new day very early during the summertime and work like all the other village girls. In her diary entry, Conchita is alluding to the following episode: On that August day, Mari Loli and Jacinta had another apparition in the morning at the Pines. They were presenting medals and rosaries to kiss as usual, oscillating back and forth and falling. Then on their knees they were carrying on a dialogue; in it Jacinta was heard to say: "Conchita has already come. They cut her braids in Santander. She's very pretty and tanned from going to the beach." When they came out of the ecstasy, they answered questions from the people around them. And one of the crowd, who had brought a tape recorder, let them hear some of the things recorded on the tape; among these were phrases that they themselves had spoken in ecstasy. The girls were amazed since they had never heard anything like this. The stranger explained how the recorder worked and did some demonstrations during which he handed them the microphone. "If you see the Virgin again, tell Her to talk through here." Eventually the ecstasy ended. What the girls had said to the Apparition was played back on the tape recorder for them to hear. And at the moment where they stopped telling her to speak, an ineffable voice was heard— the witnesses classified it most sweet— that said: "No, I will not speak." Loli and Jacinta exclaimed together, "Oh! That's the voice of the Virgin!" Everyone was very excited. As Maximina said to Conchita, "The people cried because they heard the Virgin's voice." This is something exceptional. The owner of the tape recorder (Angel Dominguez Borreguero, director of the Psychiatric Hospital of Salamanca) shouted, "I will send this to the pope!" Naturally the people wanted to hear the marvelous voice again so they played the tape again, but at the proper place they heard nothing. They came down from the Pines somewhat bewildered, talking of what had happened. They replayed the tape in Mari Cruz's home. And once again everybody could hear the mysterious voice. And again the girls said the voice was the Virgin's. She was not heard after that. But the witnesses of that unique experience have not forgotten. All kept in their heart what one of them expressed while coming down from Garabandal, "I will go to the grave with the conviction of having heard the Virgin's voice." This occurrence cannot be taken lightly since there are twelve signed witnesses to it. "She went in Haste to the Mountain", page 152
TODAY IN GARABANDAL HISTORY: MAY 6 On May 6,2012, Bishop of Santandar Vecente Jimenez Zamora, celebrated mass in Garabandal in commemoration of the completion of the restoration of the village church. This was the first time a Bishop celebrated Mass in Garabandal, since the apparitions began ! The fact that he came himself, and did not send someone in his place,and the fact that he returned again in May of 2013 ,and kissed a crucifix belonging to villager David Toribio that was kissed by the Blessed Virgin at Garabandal, were signs of his acceptance and personal approval of the apparitions.
I am posting the following video here since I know that Father Mark Goring believes in the Warning. In this video, he is speaking of the problems with a One World Government and Communism and also why these things appeal to many younger people and some older people too but yet this wonderful priest reminds us that Jesus Christ is the answer. He truly speaks from his heart and he speaks to our hearts.

GARABANDAL & PURGATORY I have always viewed Purgatory as God's greatest act of Mercy. The reason I say this is that, for the most part, most people do not deserve Heaven immediately upon their demise. Purgatory at least gives us that hope and that someday, we can attain Heaven (and we have also avoided hell ).
