I see nothing in those press reports to support the assertion that there is a great awakening. The report in the Express reminds me of the old "Fog in the Channel; the Continent is cut off" British attitude to Europe (and the rest of the world). I thought that attitude had died out. And nobody should be surprised that Macron sees Merkel's departure (not a recent decision) as an opportunity to raise his own and France's profile. Most Europeans (maybe including the politiians) ; are unaware that Estonia is a member of the EU so whatever political upheavals happen there won't cause a ripple unless they turn back to Russia and that's unlikely. Italian governments are always on the brink of collapse. The understanding I get from the BBC report is that the Dutch Prime Minister is making a shrewd move to secure his political future. I could, of course, be completely wrong (which wouldn't be unusual) but it all looks like business as usual in Europe.
