Well, AED, it's interesting that this morning on "Sonrise Morning Show" on Relevant Radio (I think) they were talking about the faith of Abraham, how he waited 75 years for God to fulfill His promise, how things got screwed up when Abraham tried to force the issue, leading to the birth of Ishmael, future Muslim, but in the end God was faithful.
I was in front of the Blessed Sacrament--well away from my house and the TV--praying for God's perfect Will. It was a very emotional prayer time but when I left I was at peace.
I often think of Sarah giving up on God and taking charge--what a mess came from that. It is a good lesson to wait on the Lord and trust Him.
This was forwarded to me by a friend. I do not know this publication--The Pillar--so I cannot vouch for it. But the information is interesting if true: Breaking: Vatican intervenes to spike US bishops’ Biden statement A Pillar Post special edition The Pillar 2 hr ago The U.S. bishops’ conference held back a statement on incoming President Joe Biden Wednesday morning, after officials from the Vatican Secretariat of State intervened before the statement could be released. The statement, from conference president Archbishop Jose Gomez, took uncompromising positions on abortion, gender, and religious liberty, warning that the Biden administration’s policy agenda would advance “moral evils” on several fronts. “[A]s pastors, the nation’s bishops are given the duty of proclaiming the Gospel in all its truth and power, in season and out of season, even when that teaching is inconvenient or when the Gospel’s truths run contrary to the directions of the wider society and culture,” Archbishop Jose Gomez wrote in a statement that was expected to be released at 9:00 am Jan. 20. “So, I must point out that our new President has pledged to pursue certain policies that would advance moral evils and threaten human life and dignity, most seriously in the areas of abortion, contraception, marriage, and gender. Of deep concern is the liberty of the Church and the freedom of believers to live according to their consciences,” Gomez added. The statement was not released Wednesday morning, and bishops were informed by USCCB officials that it remained under embargo, even after one media outlet reported it had been released. Sources in the Vatican Secretariat of State, others close to the U.S. bishops’ conference, and sources among the U.S. bishops have confirmed to The Pillar that the statement was spiked after intervention from the Vatican Secretariat of State, hours before it was due to be released. The statement had been debated hotly late into Tuesday evening, but multiple sources say it was the intervention of the Vatican that led to its delay. Sources close to the USCCB say that several American bishops had raised concerns about the statement’s release, deeming it unduly critical of the incoming administration. Three sources close to the bishops’ conference said that objections to the statement’s release came from Cardinal Joseph Tobin of Newark and Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago, among other unnamed bishops. Conference sources told The Pillar that while Gomez’ statement might eventually be released, Pope Francis was expected first to release a statement on the Biden administration, at midday on Wednesday. Some sources said there was concern in the Vatican that a statement from Gomez seen as critical of the Biden administration might seem to force the pope’s hand in his own dealings with the Biden, who will be the second Catholic president of the United States, and the first in 60 years. The USCCB did not respond to requests for comment from The Pillar. Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States, told The Pillar Wednesday morning that he was in attendance at the Biden inauguration, and unable to speak with a reporter. In the statement, which was obtained by The Pillar late Tuesday evening, Gomez wrote that he and his brother bishops would speak directly about abortion in the years to come. “We have deep concerns about many threats to human life and dignity in our society. But as Pope Francis teaches, we cannot stay silent when nearly a million unborn lives are being cast aside in our country year after year through abortion,” Gomez wrote. “Abortion is a direct attack on life that also wounds the woman and undermines the family. It is not only a private matter, it raises troubling and fundamental questions of fraternity, solidarity, and inclusion in the human community. It is also a matter of social justice. We cannot ignore the reality that abortion rates are much higher among the poor and minorities, and that the procedure is regularly used to eliminate children who would be born with disabilities.”... My opinion on Q. It is a fabrication of some very creative minds who are trying to turn real life into a fantasy show. Same as reality tv . . .part truth, part fiction. If these shows were true they would give sources for information and not leaks. They are playing mind games with you, just like the politicians on both sides. They don't care about you, it is a game to them. Unfortunately there are losers in the game and people who get hurt. Obama warned us, he was bringing change. Well, he brought it. We are now witnessing his third term and I know millions who would welcome it. If they create a new party I am not interested. I am turning my attention to living for God and not a party. Sorry, the fat lady sings today. You were served a big nothing burger.
AED, I love the image of a rampart. It is not simply a wall of defense. A rampart is: a defensive wall of a castle or walled city, having a broad top with a walkway and typically a stone parapet. And the walkway is safe from enemy fire because it has a parapet to protect those who fellowship on it. And this rampart is part of the City of God, the New Jerusalem, wherein we dwell together with all the saints (Hebrews 12:22-23). And our Lord Jesus Christ sits there enthroned. His apostles understood this, for James and John wanted to be there with him on either side (Mark 10:37-40). But Our Lady is on the right (Ps 45:9). And so may we seek to allow the Holy Spirit to build sturdy ramparts, safe and peaceful places like MOG, where we may walk together, encouraging one another. May our parishes, where altar and tabernacle be found, be not only the source of Sacrifice and Bread of Life, but where other ramparts can be found. For the Good Shepherd promises to make me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. (Ps 23:2). Safe on the Father's Lap!
Christy, thank you for posting this. I went to the website and noticed there was an update a couple of hours ago:
I have wondered for some time if the Presidency of Donald Trump was an act of Mercy from God. A four year window of mercy for America to repent. I think we were all somewhat amazed when he was elected President. He turned out to be one of the best Presidents America saw for dozens of years. And he showed how a good leader could turn the fortunes of America around for the benefit of ever member of society. Even the sensitivities of religious belief systems which are present in USA in various form. A truly remarkable feat. If we were amazed at his being elected; were we not blown away with his strong leadership and successes in so many areas. Yes, he had blunt ways of expressing himself. But surely he made politics more interesting, and he did a great job. Thank God for permitting a window of Mercy for America. God shortened the time of trial through Donald Trump. Just Keep Watch and Pray.
On a lighter note. I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a competition on the forum. The winner would be a (self confessed) fat lady, who can sing. What about Nelly the Elephant. Boys can cheat, as long as they cover their heads and don't have beards, they just have to confess to being on the heavy side. Once the contestant is successful all they have to do is sing a song, post it on You Tube and put a link on the forum. I qualify for the fat lady bit. But sound like a tractor in the vocals after being a smoker for a number of years. LOL ANY TAKERS.
In case those with beards feel left out of the competition. What about Uncle Mickeys bucking Ass for another competition. Sample linked for learning purposes.
Julia you are a scamp! I really love your sense of humor. (Tempted to shout "Oh please could the fat lady just SING???") I think we are all waiting for this kabuki theater to be over!
My favorite Tweet on election: FrDave Nix · 4h Stealing the White House doesn't make you President any more than stealing the Vatican.
