I almost think I would rather deal with cold than heat. You can always add layers and cozy up to the wood stove. But heat--cold packs and fans and pray the electricity can keep up with the air conditioner demand.
Well we do think about that. We have one hot month down here vs 5 really cold months in the U.P. . . .and we don't have to shovel snow down here so there's that. But during this hot spell, I do think about moving back up north!
I know what you mean. Snow removal is a pain and slipping on the ice is a constant worry. There is huge appeal to being away from it.
Yep. What Catholic visionary saw a dangerous black box in her visions? Marie Julie Jahenny? I know Padre Pio said it was from the devil.
yes, I read that Padre Pio story too, I don't know if it is confirmed true or not. It is alleged that Padre Pio said the inventor of the refrigerator is now in heaven while the inventor of the Television is in hell...
I don't know if the internal locutions of Fr. Gobbi are true or not, but he wrote in one of his book that in the Book of Revelation, "the idol built to be adored by all nations" is the television.
I always thought the moving image of the beast that can speak is a video feed. How would someone in Jesus time describe TV or computers? Also I suspect the mark of the beast is a chip or tattoo for making digital payments.
Yes, people no longer pray at night, they just finish their favorite television show and then sleep...
How true! And the "vision" in that box sure isn't the vision of God, but the vision of the beast. Some people compare the dark appearance of the TV and PC when off to the witches mirror. There is a name for the dark mirror which I forget now but apparently when they are off, the TV and PC look just like it. And that is a pretty fitting comparison!
Yes, it is true, but at the same time, and thanks to Mother Angelica and EWTN, when the churches were closed due to the coronovirus, we had Mass.
I think the black box is not just TV but computers and cell phones. However they are tools - not evil unto themselves. If used for good, people may gain blesssings. I think it’s like sinning, it’s a path , at first it seems all rosy and good and the occasional shading is discounted however soon you find yourself in a dark forest where everything becomes threatening. Lucifer speaks a twisted truth. If things were bald faced lie from the get go most would recognize it for what it is - evil. However as we accept bends in the rules, we become used to what is bad as being good and the next thing that comes along as bad doesn’t seem so big. The line keeps being moved closer to damnation
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton had a vision in the 1800’s about a black box in every home through which the devil would enter. What I find most disturbing these days are the number of children’s cartoons that have gay/lesbian couples. It’s not only a few anymore either. They are trying to desensitize our children to this grave sin and make it appear normal. It’s diabolic.
So true, these devices are capable of seducing us into the pit of hell if we are not on constant guard. When you think about the volume of souls , especially the young, who have been deceived and led into darknesses it is mind boggling. ‘Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil’. +
I know this thread is often about alarming and worrying signs but like to share a hopeful one. My wife and I were so happy and blessed that 2 of our children came to Mass today with all 5 of our grandkids (4 and under ). They were a bit “busy “ but more or less behaved. And it was a beautiful sight to see them all walk up the Communion line with the theirs perfectly folded (as my wonderful wife had taught them/ she often takes one or two to daily Mass). We were not only young family at Church today - several were there and yes at times there were cries and a bit of commotion but nothing distracting. At the end of Mass just before the dismissal, Father in a real genuine and emotional way says he was so happy to hear the cries and commotion. He thanked the parents for bringing their young ones/ he said it was a sign to him that the Church is still alive. And he told the parents not to feel bad if it’s noisy at times- we are all ok with it. The rest of the parishioners burst out in applause and looked at the families with real love and gratitude. I Sensed a joy that had not been in our parish since this pandemic started. It was a beautiful moment. Hope. My kids were moved. I know they will be back now! Alleluia.
