Disappointed in election results

I was hopeful going into this years election that we would see repudiation of the ideas and candidates that have brought the US to the brink. I almost feel duped- believing MSM reports of the so called “red wave”. Not sure if that was a set up or if the country has just in reality gone so far to the left that most now support all these social perversions, economic policies, and of course the health policies of Covid.

I’m no going to mince it here- from my human point of view, it’s a huge disappointment. From my vantage point, here in NY, my wife and I see the drain circling more quickly. As the saying goes, last one out turns off the light. But, big question /dilemma where do we go? Our kids and grandkids are all near us and nit that they agree with politics here, they have jobs (for now) here.

I feel a bit ashamed complaining about this today given that we all have our health, roof over our heads, etc. And I know of so many (as I read all the prayer requests on MOG) and even family members who have tremendous suffering… so my issues are so less in many ways. Yet, I worry about the future. But, with all that said, I have to keep coming back that God through His permissive will is allowing thus to happen. Not only for grander purposes but also for my own daily life. I suppose if it turned out as I wanted, perhaps I would not be on my knees this morning crying out to God, pressed help. I don’t understand. Please show your face to me God. Perhaps these challenging times are an awesome gift from God to continue to help me convert and trust.

Apologies for the ramble here… just needed to get this out to the forum and like any home, share it in Mary’s living room. Peace

Miker, well said. I feel the same way as you especially living in NY. I live in Long Island and think many voted “red” here but the city and some other areas (more populated) voted for a pro-death, etc etc etc governor. She is now empowered.
I still have a child in high school and now worry about vaccine requirements.

I too feel that we have to continue on our knees with our gaze upon Jesus (our King of Kings) cause He is the only one to trust.

I listened to a good YouTube video by Sensum Fidelis. It helped keep things in a holy perspective .

It's not over yet. The House definitely will shift and may even to a true majority. The Senate could flip as well even without the GA runoff. WI and NV look like they will be GOP and AZ is extremely close with only 62% counted. If Masters win, then GOP controls the Senate as well. PA senate and governor is clearly pointing to fraud as well as NY governor race.

Keep praying, fasting and do penance!!!

Yes! There are many very good outcomes in this election and I’m grateful for that!

Not ever giving up hope! I heard that the NY Republican governor candidate, Zeldin, has not conceded yet.

  5. I am disappointed, too. Mankind has chosen death rings true in California. Prop. 1 passed so that makes abortion legal up to birth. Our parish made a big push for prayer to defeat this, but evil won the day.

"When things are at their worst....."
God is allowing this. This evilness is not from God. He is able!!!! We are calling on Him night and day. He hears our cries. "If Christ be for us, Who can be against us?"
Sometimes, especially after I pray a rosary, I can feel His presence trailing me around my home.:);) He is able.

I'm a firm believer that now is a time of great conversion for many. I am living proof of this. God's grace abounds where sin does, and light expels the darkness. Rejoice!

I too am so sad over this. I woke up in the middle of the night to check results only to be so disheartened. I couldn’t go back to sleep so instead prayed a rosary. I live in Michigan and we re elected a dictator. And all three of the horrible proposals passed. I too have been wondering where to go. I do know this must be Gods will. I think it has a lot to do with things will be at their worst. So. We are on our way there. Just keeps getting worse. Yes I am happy to see republicans will probably take the house and have a chance at the senate. But it totally boggles my mind how so many people voted for such blatant evil….

…I guess I’m comforted, to a degree, in that I’m not alone, but I too am disappointed. To me, it’s not so much as about which political party won, but it’s the fact that I was hoping for an overwhelming repudiation of unchecked power gone mad, a horrendously biased media, the almost sociopathic indifference to the barbaric murder of the unborn, of “believe and think like the so called mainstream or be vilified and marginalized”, and of the corruption everywhere.
As stated above, we all have problems and we are lucky things aren’t worse. On the other hand, I do find myself very discouraged on a personal level, and must admit I wait for the coming of the Lord…via the illumination of conscience and whatever else, in great, intense earnest . Trying to fast, and all I want to do is eat every bit of junk food not nailed down. God help us all, and I pray for all intentions, here.

I want to point something out to the non-USA members of MOG; namely, a demonstration of why the US doesn't have a direct election of our President.

Here is a link to the CNN coverage of the elections:

    https://www.cnn.com/election/2022/results/pennsylvania

The areas marked in red are the ones that voted for the Republican candidate. Republicans tend to be what the world thinks of as "conservative", i.e., "the right." The areas marked in blue voted for the Democrat candidate. Democrats tend to be what the world thinks of a "liberal", i.e., "the left". The link I gave is specifically for the state of Pennsylvania (2-letter postal code abbreviation PA). At the top of the page there's a drop-down list where you can look at other states. For now, let's look at PA.

Now, I've come to believe that PA has one of the most corrupt, if not THE most corrupt electoral system in the US. Scroll down the page to the results of the race to be one of PA's Senators. The race was between John Fetterman (the Democrat incumbent) and Mehmet Oz (a doctor with a TV show, who barely qualified to run in PA) on the Republican side. Fetterman had a stroke in May of this year, yet chose to continue to run. In his television appearances, especially during the televised debate between him and Oz, he has clearly demonstrated cognitive issues as well as problems expressing himself. In the link above, you'll see how many areas voted for Oz -- the state is almost entirely red.

Yet Fetterman won the election. The areas marked in blue, which voted Democrat, all have the largest cities in PA. This means that the number of people voting Democrat in those few areas outnumbered the people in all the rest of the state who voted Republican.

Now go to the drop-down list for New York (NY) and look at the results for the election for the Senate. Chuck Schumer is the Democrat incumbent. His results are in blue. Again, most of the state is in red, where those areas voted for the Republican candidate. Yet Schumer won re-election. Again, those few areas in and around the larger cities outvoted the rest of the state.

These two states show the differences between urban and rural voters. Now, let's apply this to presidential elections. Even back in 1787 there was a strong split between those states who were more urbanized and those states who were mostly farmers. The men who drafted the Constitution wanted to prevent "a dictatorship of the majority" -- they wanted to prevent having the views of the rural populations from being constantly rejected by the majority urban voters. So they instituted a system of indirect presidential election -- the people don't elect the president, they elect the people who will vote for the president. This produces an "leveling-out" of views and prevents this majority dictatorship.

Back in 2016, with the election of Donald Trump, there was a huge outcry from the left. Clinton supposedly got 2 million more votes than Trump; she won the popular vote, therefor SHE should have been president. But when you look at a county-by-county breakdown of election results, you'll see that Trump won many, many more individual counties than did Clinton, with one exception:

You'll have to be careful in moving your mouse, but in the area covered by and just under the word "York" in New York City, you'll find a whole set of MUCH smaller districts, all of which are blue. This area of NYC by itself accounts for almost all of those 2 million Democrat votes for Clinton. This heavily Democrat area is about 5 square miles (13 sq. km). If we had direct presidential elections, those 5 square miles would dictate presidential elections for the rest of the country, possibly for decades to come.

And THAT is why the USA has indirect presidential elections, and why I will oppose any effort to change this.

…unfortunately, and though I’m in shape and not obese, food is my go to drug. Right this very second I’m so stressed that nothing sounds better to me than a Carvel Ice Cream Cake, followed by a spicy peanuts snacks mix chaser. Lord give me strength! Hang in there.

I just feel numb. I voted of course--knowing as the upstate voters in NY know--our rural votes here are drowned in a sea of urban elites and state dependant poor. And pro aborts who hammered us day and night about the evil Republicans who want to take away our rights.

If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure that most of us are much farther along spiritually, than we were back when the 2020 election results were in.

But I am worried nonetheless, it make me hope and pray more eagerly, that Chile lifts its vaccine mandates so that I can move there.

Yes, I was praying/hoping for better/clearer conservative/pro-life majorities, so that, you know, Roe v Wade remains permanently overturned etc.

But here are the latest numbers and they're not that bad imo. GOP leads 203 to 176 in the House, with 15 more for majority, and 56 seats remaining.

Images from Google based on latest results. And similarly, in the Senate, with 4 races remaining to be called, GOP leads 48-46, 3 needed for majority.

And why, despite what the media and many politicians love to state, we are NOT a democracy. We ARE a constitutional Republic.
