Throwing this out there, as it's been on my mind for awhile; Francis as Katechon. Is there anywhere that says the restrainer is to be someone who is personally holy? Or is it just someone holding back the onslaught of what is to come? Francis may not be a holy man, but he, whatever we think, is sitting on Peter's Chair. He reminds me of the emperor, Commodus, in the show Gladiator. "He is not a moral man". And he is not well. Some are waiting for him to pass on. When he does die, what will that conclave even be like? And what happens if a "Cardinal Sarah" is elected? Will we just relax then and leave him to it, criticizing him if he doesn't do what we think he should? Or if a "Cardinal Cupich" is elected? Do we then give up? Many where I am are waiting in great hope for the next election, to be rid of Trudeau. Personally, and I've thought this now for quite awhile, I seriously doubt there will even be another election here or in the USA for that matter. So at this point, what could a new good Holy Father do? The world, including the Church, is a tinderbox waiting to go up in flames.......People like Liz Yore, and the others doing so much work around the validity of the last conclave etc etc, are perhaps laying the groundwork for the "council fathers" who will ultimately decide on Francis' legitimacy. That's not a bad thing. We already know what his legacy is, and it's not good. But, is it at all possible that his placement on "Peter's Chair" is holding back what is to come??? Like some, I may just disappear for awhile....sometimes a misunderstanding can cause more grief than one can handle....doors may be presented to us, but some are meant to stay closed.....as they were meant for others....
Hmmm not likely. The Bible passage suggests the katechon is a force for good. The present pope is a force for evil. The katechon holds back chastisements. The present pope promotes them.
Likewise! And things have certainly become much worse over the past year. imho, it's like being at the precipice, but the "fence" hasn't completely given way yet........
I personally don't believe the katechon is a human being. Humans only are on earth a max of 100 yrs. Katechon has to have been restraining evil since Christ and the start of the Church. I therefore think the katechon is the holy mass..when the mass is suppressed and not allowed to be practiced evil will reign. We haven't seen anything yet.
The katechon/restrainer mention is truly a cryptic mysterious passage in the Bible. However, all translations refer to the kathechon as a human being. He is referred to as “he”. Pope Benedict sure comes to mind. He was a good holy man. His mere physical presence was a hindrance even after he was taken out of the way by the wolves (under what circumstances God only knows). Check out the various translations below. 2 THESSALONIANS 2:7 KJ21 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now holdeth back will hold him back, until he is taken out of the way. ASV For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way. Isn't there an interpretation that says the katechon is a person and an object? I have a vague memory of watching discussions where people who seemed to have studied the topic and knew what they were talking about said that the katechon is referred to as an object (it) and a man. Depending on the context couldn't both the object and the person be the Eucharist?
