This may shock some here, but in 2012, Tucho and Bergoglio applauded Jewish Rabbi Abraham Skorka when he publicly announced the future appearance of the Antichrist.

Dear Miker, my apologies for causing frustration by posting about Medjugorje within an unrelated thread. It was unnecessary. May Our Good Lord bless you and all here much on this Epiphany day.

Can we be sure the subtitles are the correct interpretation of his actual words translated correctly?

I was the one who edited this video to be accessible to English speakers. The audio is not that good but you can hear it with some effort. I used this original transcription as a basis, correcting one or two details that were not accurate:

Thankyou for your efforts in this regard. I wanted to make sure it was not fake.

This revelation is deeply disturbing and enlightening.

    Context:
This takes place in a celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. In the rest of the speech, Skorka praises the recent opening of the Church to dialogue with the Jews. In the immediate moment of the speech that precedes this excerpt, Skorka is praising Pope John Paul II.

Strictly speaking, we are all waiting for the Messiah. We await His second coming while the Jew don't accept that He has come, died, arose, ascended to Heaven and will return again. I suppose that the Rabbi was correct with his comment about the timing because Jesus said that the Jews won't see Him again until they call Him Lord. Sure, the Rabbi doesn't share our understanding of the events expected to lead to the return of Jesus but his actual words weren't offensive. The second last line in the Bible is "Come, Lord Jesus" and it doesn't tell us to avoid saying that prayer because the AC must appear first.

Take care, Basto, that your dissatisfaction with this papacy doesn't cloud your judgment to the stage where charity for the Pope is excluded. I mean you no offense when I say that. I'm just speaking from my own experience and can't find a more diplomatic way to express myself.

I'm sorry but Rabbi Skorka is wrong, as are Jews in general and you are wrong as well if you agree with him. God revealed Himself to humanity two thousand years ago, those who believe in Him are saved, those who don't believe in Him and wait for another messiah walk towards damnation.

Though questions have been raised, and caution advised concerning Medjugorje, I have witnessed the overall fruit it has borne in the lives of pilgrims. My own family's experience back in December, 1987, was overwhelmingly positive because of the witness of the villagers' faith. We subsequently put together a slideshow well received at the parishes in which it was presented. Since the timeline for fulfillment of prophecies approaches, I am taking a wait and see attitude.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Jews as well as Muslims expect a messianic figure different from an incarnation of God on earth. Perhaps this explains why Francis denied the divinity of Christ in one of his interviews with Eugenio Scalfari: a way of adapting the belief in the Parousia to the context of different religions and traditions and forming a single global religion.

This also explains why Francis went against the directives of some American bishops to deny holy communion to abortionist Joe Biden. It seems to me that this treatment given to the sacrament, which is Christ himself, does not exactly reflect a deep profession of faith in the divinity of Christ.

We don't know what Pope Francis said to Scalfari. Scalfari himself admitted to not taking notes and I think he also said that there could have been discrepancies between what the Pope said and what he reported. Yes, the Pope should have set the record straight but the fact that he didn't doesn't make him an apostate.

For all we know, the Jews could be converted before the appearance of the AC. All we know for sure is that they will be converted before Jesus returns, therefore, there was nothing offensive in the Rabbi's words "we await the Messiah". I'm sure the Rabbi chose his words carefully to avoid giving offense and what he said was not offensive. Whether or not he should have been given an award at a Catholic university is a different matter.

I happen to think that part of what the Catechism tells us will be the great deception could be a belief that men evolve into godlike beings. I'm not sure but I think there are some Jews who hold beliefs along those lines because they don't believe in bodily resurrection but I could be wrong about that. I know the Rabbi is wrong in failing to believe that Jesus is the Messiah but it's stretching things to claim that the Pope at that event applauded a call to prepare the way for the AC.

thank you dear Miker, and all here. Indeed, we are brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are having wonderful friends over for dinner, who have helped us with our marriage a year ago when we were going through a terrible time. The kids have been helping with the cooking.

You all remain in our family Rosaries, alongside your friends and loved ones. This year will be tough. Taylor Marshal has put up a video where he outlined about six or seven steps that we can take to get better weapons for this year, where we are going to be attacked. This was published a while ago here on this forum. i am not normally a fan of videos, especially hour-long ones, but I found this one to be very good. I have also recently kind of started following Anthony Stine's videos.

Reading and praying about your sufferings, dear all, in our family, we keep praying, although we cannot pray for each of you individually always, sometimes we do. But mostly we offer our Rosaries for all here n this forum and all your loved ones. We are basically a company of a spiritual army.

there is much joy, too. it is not only suffering. one day, I hope, we will all meet each other, in heaven. Together with our loved ones, hopefully.
    God bless!

I take into account that the Pope himself gave posthumous praise to the journalist, which only serves to increase the belief that Francis really uttered those insolences against Our Lord. Furthermore, Francisco practically publicly confirmed one of the heresies that Scalfari attributed to him when he denied the existence of eternal torment in an interview with the Argentine newspaper Ideal in 2023.

Did he actually deny eternal punishment or did he use some Jesuitical gobbledegook that the reporter interpreted a a denial? I suspect that's what happened in the Scalfari interviews. Saying something nice about Scalfari after he died doesn't signify anything. Surely nobody expected him to speak ill of the dead?

Luan, I really don't want to get into a tit for tat argument on this. I think that Francis is a terrible Pope but I also believe that the ongoing nit picking, looking for signs of apostasy in everything he says and does serves no useful purpose. On the contrary, it undermines honest, constructive criticism. Pope Francis appears to have some very nasty character traits but he's certainly not an apostate and I don't believe he is a heretic. Whatever he is, he deserves as much charity from us as we expect for ourselves.

It means a lot considering that after a scandalous interview in March 2018 in which Scalfari credited him with denying the existence of hell, the Pope agreed to be interviewed again by this journalist in October 2019, knowing the risk of a new scandal that could cause the eternal damnation of millions of people. Furthermore, he again had the terrible idea of giving an interview without any recording, favoring multiple interpretations of what he actually said.
