As someone who comes from a former communist criminal country that was created in the blood of a revolution and disintegrated in a bloody war, you are already living in communism, you just don't realize it....

Do you know why communism failed? Because they came through a military coup, took over education, media, culture, politics, introduced a dictatorship of fear, banned religion from political and social life...
However, they did not do the most important thing, which was to change the mentality of people, the mental structure of people, upbringing in a family where a person develops as an individual. Faith in God is created in the family. Communism controls the material, but it does not control the spiritual state of a person. If you look at all the countries by the percentage of vaccinations, you will see that the least are ex-communist countries, and the most liberal Western countries. Because in communism we were taught in the family not to trust the government or politicians.

The West is worse than communism, because communism breaks the body, and the West breaks the spirit. The West breaks families, divorces, LGBT agenda, family destruction, hedonism, sexual immorality, money instead of God...

People in communism were slaves to the system, but they had faith in God, they knew their history, the churches were full (communists and civil servants did not go), many gave their lives for the faith, we knew our history and we strived for freedom.

People in the west gave up freedom, God, family for a little pleasure, and in the end they will lose everything.

Communism never disappeared, they just learned from their mistakes and kept quiet before comeback. Before the dictatorship, you have to make people of character with firm faith in God and love for their country into those who hate their country, who mock God and who are indoctrinated.

I think it's pretty clear which ones are easier to control and who will not rebel for little prize and position.

The family is the key to the struggle of communism. In the end, these are not my words, but St. Lucia from Fatima, who said that the last fight will be fought over the family. Because every individual grows up in the family, if you destroy the family, then the state raises the children, and this happens in the West with indoctrination through the media, schools, social networks, etc.
The fight isn't over yet, but it doesn't look good and real communism is getting closer. Only, with God everything is possible and we trust in Him because only He can deliver us from this evil.

Both systems are evil, and in the case of communism, this system also breaks the soul, since the Church absolutely prohibits membership in communist parties with the threat of excommunication. We saw the harshest face of confinements during the pandemic in the communist dictatorship of China, where there was even drone surveillance on the streets for those who did not comply with isolation measures. Talking about a dispute between communism born in 1917 and Western communism born in 1973 (when the USA legalized abortion) is the most appropriate way to describe the problem that we are discussing freely in this forum.

Well I agree it was awful when we legalized abortion. But we didn’t give up and it was overturned on a national level. The pendulum swings. There is still a lot of work to do but we are not giving up. I appreciate your opinion. Have you ever been to the US? Visited the Deep South or the Upper Peninsula or the Amish in the Midwest? We’ll see how it all shakes out, I really don’t feel like I’m living in communism at least where I live.
    Thanks be to God.

This is true, this Western liberalist and hedonistic system can be far worse than communism for the destruction of souls. It was built gradually through a process of social engineering based on cultural Marxism, freely accepted by the population, which approves iniquitous laws and with some complicity from the Church. But this is not communism yet, we are almost there. Communism is not what we have now in the putrefying Western democracies, but it will be the punishment for it.

When we see our churches destroyed or banned, when our priests and bishops are appointed by the government, when the arrests, torture and murders of Christians come, then the communist scourge has returned and it will be a time of purification of the Church and the world through blood of the martyrs of faith. We're not there yet, at least on a large scale, but we're almost there.

Well maybe I am an optimist but I have hope and believe that Jesus is the good news. And with him in my heart I have nothing to fear. I was recently talking to one of our new Hispanic Priests. He is from Columbia. I told him one of my friends said she hated our country and I didn’t know how to respond to her except to tell her she could go live in Venezuela and then make a more informed decision. He said , “What? Are you kidding? In Columbia we weren’t allowed to have crosses or wear anything religious. We couldn’t discuss religion.” When he arrived in the United States, a year ago, the first thing he saw coming out of the airport was a giant cross. He wanted to kiss the ground. He told me yes, the United States has a lot of problems but we have freedom. So, as a citizen I cannot predict what might happen, but with prayer anything is possible. Don’t judge our country by “The View” or main stream media. Don’t judge us by NYC, LA, or Washington. Be patient and watch the Holy Spirit work, God will not forsake us. Sure we will have martyrs every country and generation has them. Hard times will make us stronger. Persevere.

Katfalls, I live a few miles south of Fort Mc Henry which is where Francis Scott Key composed the Star Spangled Banner. I still get choked up when I hear it.

Not far off. Here in Canada, I sometimes wonder how many Catholics will take the stand for their Faith, when it entails persecution and even death. We like our comfort in the West. We sometimes think we are strong, until they take away everything. That’s why God alone, will keep us faithful. There is much hope…. It will go only as far as God allows.

It’s what happened in all communist nations. The lack of faith in society was the culprit. I love the USA, but not today’s culture. It’s no longer American. The ideals of our fore fathers have diminished into something no longer recognizable. Some are clueless and have no idea what’s happening. Like the days of Noah.

The scenario you paint is terrifying. I pray Lord please don't put me to the test. I hang on to Our Lady's words that she will protect us through the rosary. I feel we are on the verge of the Warning. Time to go to confession. Lord help us.

Yes. Many here do not see it either. In fact the vast majority are blissfully unaware of what we threw away. It is so sad.
But with it; Gods protective hand has been removed. In flood the demons.

We do the patriotic rosary each month in our parish. We sing patriotic songs including the National Anthem between decades. It was here that I learned there were several verses in the Anthem and I really get moved by the last one:

O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto - "In God is our trust,"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I love what St Paul said:

    Rom.8 Verses 38 to 39

    1. [38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So no matter what happens in the future, how bad things get, how much Apostasy there is in the Church I am certain that nothing can separate me from Jesus; unless I choose to be separated.

Also Jesus warned us several times not to get caught up in worry:

    Matthew 6:25-34
    Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your lifea]">[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I am afraid it is true a very great war is coming. We can see this all around us. But all we can do is throw ourselves into God's arms and trust. Even in, 'Normal', times when we fall asleep at nights how do we really know if we are going to wake up in the mornings?

One great thing cheers me up at the moment is a deepening prayer life since last February since I retired. Many more rosaries and Stations of the Cross. More constant daily Mass and frequent confession. Daily scripture. Reading holy books. Trying my very best to turn my mind and heart constantly to God and things of God. So through grace God has created a strong castle and moat for me against the coming Tribulations. May the Walls of this Castle ever grow higher and its moat every deeper against the foe.

    Proverbs 18:10

The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Another thing warms my heart and cheers me up giving me something to look forward to in times of Tribulation is the thought of being able to help others. I am still hoping to buy a little homestead next year in a nice remote place in Spain. To do things like grow my own food and be totally self sufficient. This isn't simply selfish I really would love to be able to help others out when the going gets hard. Anyway its lovely to have something like this to look forward to. The thought of being able to save others warms my old heart.

    • Hebrews 13:16 ~ "And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased."
    • Galatians 6:10 ~ "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."
