It just means it's alright to do official Church pilgrimages, nothing else really. They're saying it's a cool place were good things happen and it's fine to go there. They don't by any means say that it's supernatural. They also double back by saying that Mary sometimes says things they're really not comfortable with there (I wonder why?)

A kind of a nod and a wink with no real committal either way. But a million times better than giving it the boot, which I expected.

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think the present Vatican crowd do saying something is supernatural anymore so this is as good as it gets with them.

Yes, totally feels like they are trying to cover themselves. They don't want to call it supernatural, but sure do love all the money coming in from all the tourism to this place is what it felt like to me.

This is my understanding as well. I think "Nulla Osta" is Italian, which is equivalent to "Nihil Obstat" in Latin. I heard that Medjugorje is now on par with other Marian shrines according to the video posted here.

It was declared OK to do church pikgrimages before this. This is the highest form of approval based on new church norms.

Which isn't approval at all. It simply means the Church is declaring there are no obstacles to belief.
He isn't speaking about Medjugorje directly.

Just read the document, which was very odd. First of all, most of the statements in the document seem to take the authenticity of Medjugorje for granted. The messages are referred to as Mary’s and whoever wrote the document obviously believes that the apparitions are legitimate. Second, one odd and vague clause seems to suggest that all future messages (including the alleged secrets) will have to go through Church officials before publication. Unless I’m misreading this.

The Nulla Osta formally allows for pilgrimages, prayer groups associated with Medjugorje, etc. in the sense that the Church sees good and wants to protect that. Their decision is focused more on the effects of Medjugorje and not on whether Our Lady is appearing there or on the authenticity/moral life of the visionaries.

Garabandal, on the other hand as mention in the press conference, falls more in the lines of Non Constant. Meaning that the Church has a responsibility to provide for spiritual support for those who are visiting there on their own (ie. Mass at the parish, confession, etc) for a larger group of people than would be normal at a regular parish life... but there is no further support or encouragement of the phenomenon. Which is interesting considering that folks say Padre Pio, Mother Teresa, etc supported Garabandal. We will see if they clarify Garabandal soon but my take on it from today is that they are not very supportive of Garabandal.

It's as good as it gets with these kind of people. In order to say something is Supernatural you have to have the inner conviction that supernatural events occur. Something that is notably lacking in these people. It reminds me of meeting a stray dog whom you meet and it lets you pet it, it was it's tail and seems happy. You adopt it, but it doesn't mean you don't have to keep an eye on it for a while for you know it could turn wild again at any moment and bite you.

The Vatican have built in escape clauses in this judgement which will allow them to jetison Medugoje at an instants notice if they like.

It's not all all sweetness and roses.

I wouldn't trust them an inch. You're dealing with very, very bad but very, very slick operators here.

Still it's a real miracle it's gone as far as it has and thank God for it. But if you sup with the devil you need a very, very long spoon.

Don't trust the present denizens of the Vatican an inch or half an inch , or half of half an inch .

That's my advice. If you do don't be surprised if you get a good biting.

Another thing to consider is that now Medjugorje is on par with other Marian sites, with only a Nihil Obstat. I am not exactly sure, but it seems like it is a possibility that all other Marian shrines have been relegated to Nihil Obstat status indirectly, from this declaration on Medjugorje. So I am still uneasy about some of this. Especially given the track record of Cardinal Fernández. For me there still needs to be a level of formal approval, especially given what happened in Kibeho.

I don't believe for a second that Cardinal Fernandez really believes the M other of God is appearing at Medugorje or anywhere else for that matter. I don't believe he believes in the Mother of God at all.

But it suits them at the present moment, for the time being to ride along with things

All this is political, none of it is from the heart.

They're just riding with a popular wave

    Nothing else.

It makes them seem like good Catholics.

The more I read of this document, the more I am concerned. Though I’m definitely on the fence in regards to Medjugorje, the messages might be censored now, which is concerning.

I have complete confidence in Garabandal, on the other hand, and I sincerely hope that the Vatican doesn’t condemn it. But with the tone taken in the document, I can see a condemnation coming for Garabandal, Kerizinen, Our Lady of America, etc.

Eh, none of that matters. Their intentions, how good of people they are, how much they love Mary, etc. God works and moves through His Church. I care only about what God is up to here.

For some, this what they needed. For others, we have confidence regardless of who the cardinal is or who has infiltrated.

It reminds me of King Herod believing that the baby thwas about to be born in Bethlehem might just be the real deàl. Fair play to King Herod, I suspect he had far more belief in the supernatural than the likes of Cardinal Fernandez has. Plus I believe King Herod was a better class of person.

But anyway I would not get to carried away with this. God can use evil people doing deviousthings to suit his plans. That for me is the miracle.

But as far as trusting anything the Vatican thinks about anything, forget about it. Like I say King Herod had more class.
