Proposition 1 on all New York State Ballots this election will be a moral disaster if approved in November. The key wording is as follows: No person shall, because of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, creed [or], religion, or sex, including sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, pregnancy outcomes, and reproductive healthcare and autonomy, be subjected to any discrimination in [his or her] their civil rights by any other person… Everyone is for the individual rights and non-discrimination-correct? Yes, but our NYS Bishops would like us to realize that the approval of this proposition would encode in the New York State Constitution, personal autonomy with no restriction, regardless of age, concerning the issues listed. Two consequences that affect negatively upon parental authority and rights would be: (1) Parents of pregnant teenagers would have no legal say in whether or not their daughter procures an abortion, for that would be an act of wrongful discrimination on their part against their daughter. (2) Children up through high school would be free to choose and act out their own gender identity, without parents being notified of said decision or legal recourse to prohibit it. Parents, wake up! Lord have Mercy!
Hell on earth - devlish laws This will lead to the direct persecution, arrest and imprisonment of pro-life Catholics and also parents who oppose this nonsense.
It's going to be voted in because the majority of people are incapable of understanding what is being proposed beyond a surface level. They do not understand the more sinister implications. And this is what those who proposed it are banking on - because they certainly understand the more sinister implications.
I am rereading Lord of the World by RH Benson. He gets so many things right! He wrote it in 1907. Astonishing. We are living it! Not in the exact form he presents it but in the essentials.
Well, at least Msgr. Francis following the request of our Bishop to focus on Life issues, allowed me to preach this weekend accordigly. I taught how this Proposition is sinister. Rain's above assessment is probably correct: If voters aren't educated on the deceptive language of the above Proposition (which bypasses the protective process of vetting by the Assembly, Senate, and governor) then they'll be sucked into the "very wordy but sounds good- who likes discrimination" deception. It carries the tone of the Father of Lies doesn't it? Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the Lord God had made. Imagine a 15-yr-old daughter telling her parents,"The NYS Constitution says it is my right to get an abortion and you can't legally stop me!" Lord have Mercy!

Unfortunately, this horrible proposition won easily. I assume many good Catholics who had not read anything beforehand could not readily decipher the gobbledygook. What a horrific attack against parental authority. I thank Fr. Francis who allowed me to preach against it. I influenced whom I could, but that cannot change the negative consequences that parents will experience!
Mario, the sad thing is, alot if parents are the ones who take their kids in for the procedure. I happen to know a few.
Democrats are fine with the government doing everything for them and smothering them with total control because they cannot think for themselves, they have no critical thinking skills after being brainwashed in public school grades 1 thru 12 and in college.
