On post 361 [same group as in post 432] I remarked on how we are so much further removed from the Orthodox [Greek here] Church with guitar 'hymns' such as the "Galilee Song" and "They know we are Christians by our love." Abandoning Gregorian has not filled our churches or brought us closer together. Instead of humming holy Latin hymns as we leave the church, we applaud the 'music ministry' and walk out whistling some melody that in no way lifts our minds to God. Lauren Daigle [post 417] is a great 'wake-up' piece but as a stage performance, not for mass. In some churches the mellow tones of the organ have been replaced by drums and electric guitars. It's the Perpetual Sacrifice in praise of God, not a performance for would-be X-factor contestants! The Latin mass is full of the young; the modern church is full of pensioners who would actually prefer "Faith of our Fathers"
