    Today's Gospel

    Mark 7:1-13

... He (Jesus) responded, "Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written:
This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts. You disregard God's commandment but cling to human tradition" ...

Living in the Holy Land, you can add the ultra-Orthodox Jews into the mix as well, although they aren't violent and are protesting against Zionism. They didn't want to be recruited into the IDF to fight Palestinians, and are also treated badly by Israel police.

The ultra-Orthodox Jews you mention are doing their best to obey the Commandments of God, rather than those of men, and deserve great credit for this and I suspect Christ will not forget this, but they possess very little political influence. From what I've heard, many Israelis are very secular, a lot even atheist, but they still follow a secular messianic world-view. They deludedly believe they are a people chosen by a god that they don't believe in. They've lost their faith, but retained and cultivated their arrogance.

I have come to think that God chose the Jews to reveal Himself, not because He considered them especially good, but especially bad, on the logical basis, perhaps, that if He could win this crowd around, He could do so with anybody. He has won around a lot of other peoples, but the Jews continue to reject Him, as they rejected so many of His prophets, right up to Himself.

I've read that Trump intends no right of return for the Gazans, if they're ethnically cleansed. He's also making terrible threats if some hostages aren't released by Saturday. If these events occur, I'll be giving up on him as just another Zionist, genocidal puppet, keeping his Christian Zionist supporters on side with his 'anti-Deep State' policies, which I suspect will turn out to be very limited, if things play out this way.

I hope and pray that I'm completely wrong.

They don’t believe in God but they believe God chose them and 3,700 years ago gave them all the land “from the river to the sea” and they can kill all the amalek (who are animals btw) who stand in their way.

    Go figure.

It’s all spiritual at the end of the day.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate.

For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

I heard the same. :( I think when the world saw the emaciated condition of the three hostages that were released, along with Hamas delaying the release of remaining hostages, it pushed Trump into making a threat that he may regret.
I have been reading reports that the hostages were not only starved but tortured, so the assumption is that the remaining hostages are in terrible shape. I don't even want to think about what will go down if they don't comply by noon on Saturday. What a dreadful and frightening situation, Trump is playing with fire.

Trump has totally lost the plot - his Gaza plan is so ridiculous that even a madman couldn't come up with such a preposterous idea. It is breathtaking in its stupidity.

Zionism is its christian form is an extreme protestant heresy and his cabinet is full of zionist nutters.

This is going to lead to disaster should he persist and lead to global conflict.

    I am lost for words.

My apologies, I should've worded my reply differently. I was referring to the Israeli police being the hypocrites.
I've seen videos of Israeli IDF soldiers wearing the Tefillin, or phylacteries (small black leather boxes with leather straps containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah), and was thinking that the "Christian Zionism, Talmudic Judaism" you posted about, would also be serving in the Israeli police.

"Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil" is not in the Our Father by accident.

I read that the Pike-Mazzini letter has been debunked, so there's really no point speculating about how it fits our time or any time. Seems it was a hoax by someone making fun of the Masons and the Church. That some Bishop fell for it doesn't make it authentic.

As to the AC setting himself up in Rome, he'll have to move to Jerusalem and set himself up in the third temple if he wants to convince anyone that he's the Messiah. The False Prophet is expected to be a Bishop (not Pope), just as Judas was an Apostle, but, as is explained in the attached Catholic Answers article, the Pope is the Vicar of Christ and the AC will be claiming that he (not Jesus) is the Christ. https://www.catholic.com/tract/the-antichrist

Now, if some American President happens to be descended from the tribe of Dan and AIPAC or Widow Adelson pays him to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, he could convince the Jews that he is the Messiah and people like Mike Huckabee that he is Jesus. If so, the Huckabee types are in for a shock when they aren't whisked up in the air for a bird's eye view of us Catholics being wiped out. The way they're acting, they could surely start a war but I suspect that it won't be the Gog/Magog war because Jesus is unlikely to follow a timeline imposed by AIPAC or American Christian Zionists.

I heard that Hamas had said that they wouldn't release the hostages due to be released on Saturday because the Israelis have blocked food and medicine which were part of the deal. Trump has threatened all hell on Gaza unless all hostages (not just the agreed number) are released by midday Saturday. An Israeli Government Minister (possibly the military person) said that they will force Palestinians out of Gaza by making sure they have no food or water.

Trump complained that the released prisoners were emaciated. Not a word about all the Palestinians being starved by the Israelis or the Palestinian hostages tortured so badly by the Israelis that they had to be hospitalised. Looks like he may have made the Egyptian leader an offer he can't refuse. I thought that nobody could be worse than Biden but I was wrong. Trump is a monster.

No apology needed. Au contraire, it is the wording of my reply that needs scrutiny, because I was, in my clumsy way, entirely disagreeing with you. The Old Covenant has been entirely replaced by the New, but I think Christ might have a certain sympathy for the genuine loyalty shown by the ultra-Orthodox to the Old, because they are beholden to God, rather than man.

I doubt if there are many Christians in the Israeli police, but the writings of both Israel Shahak and Israel Shameer suggest that there have always been many Talmudists in the Israeli police and military.

On another tangent, Samantha Power, who has carried out huge miracles with her salary, achieving a net worth of $30,000,000 from a salary of $250,000 per annum-how parsimonious of her-is married, I discovered this morning, to an influential Jew. The incredibly disproportionate access to the halls of American power possessed by this demographically minor group continues to be nothing short of astonishing. Their tentacles are everywhere that trouble can be stirred up.

If he's serious, he would be as bad as Biden, but could hardly be worse. However, talk is cheap. I'll only judge him by his actions, because he is capable of saying much that is hyperbole, or manipulative. From what I'm reading this morning, Sisi isn't going along with him.

I don't think most people understand what Gaza is. The entire area of Gaza is 625 km2, most of which is uninhabitable. 2.2 million inhabitants live in this area and it is the most densely populated area on earth, and over 65% of the inhabitants are under the age of 18, making it one of the youngest areas in the world in terms of population.

Gaza City is 45 km2 with about 700,000 inhabitants, it is a city smaller in area than Watford in Ireland (50km2) which has 60,000 inhabitants and, say, Burbank in the USA which has 100,000 inhabitants. The population density is over 15,000 per km2, of which, as I said, mostly young people...

Over 100,000 tons of bombs fell on that area ( oct 2023-2024). That's about 5% of the total weapons that the US dropped in ww2 from Europe, Africa to the war in Asia against Japan in 4 years where about 500,000 Americans died.

Consider that without air defense, Gaza does not have an army, but several thousand adults who have a few types of weapons, it's like taking a slingshot with a rock against tanks and cannons...Only this is even worse.

In a contentious, non-peer-reviewed letter published in The Lancet in July, another group of researchers used the rate of indirect deaths seen in other conflicts to suggest that 186,000 deaths could eventually be attributed to the Gaza war.

The bombs that the US sells to Israel and that are dropped on Gaza range in size from 500 pounds to 2,000 pounds. This is an illustration of what such bombs do to you, and I say about 100,000 tons of bombs were dropped.

What damage do 2000 pounds bomb do....

In Gaza, according to data from early 2024, after only 3 months of war, over 65% of children had only one meal a day.

As many as 9 out of 10 children do not get nearly enough food to grow, and the average calorie intake is 245 per day.

This is an average what kids need... in the 5 to 8 range will likely eat anywhere from 1,800 to 2,000 calories everyday. Pre-teens, up to age 13, will likely eat around 2,200 calories per day. A teenage boy will need to eat up to 3,200 calories, while teenage girls aim for around 2,400 calories.

So 245 calories per day is systematic starvation and genocide.

There are 11,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons as of October 2023 without any trial or court, of which a large number are women and children from the West Bank, where there is no war.
As many as 200 journalists are in Israeli prisons, over 50 people have been killed in prisons, of which 90% do not want to hand over their bodies to their families for burial.

There is such abuse and torture in Israeli prisons that it is comparable to what cartels do in Latin America. One video was released where about 10 guards raped and pushed various objects into the anus of a Palestinian (male) to the extent that he bled to death. When the video came out due to the condemnation of the World, they had to keep the guards, after which a large mass protest was held, and people even broke into the station to let the guards out.

"Reports confirm that one Palestinian detainee was subjected to gang rape by 9 or 10 Israeli soldiers and endured severe torture, resulting in paralysis and hospitalization. According to an Israeli Army Radio report"

Israeli journalist urges rape to become state policy for Palestinian prisoners
‘It is just a shame that we don't do it in an institutionalized way as a part of regulations for torture of prisoners,’ Yehuda Schlesinger tells Israeli Channel 12

Protest after gang rape to let the guards out
    [IMG]

On average, before the war, Israel imprisoned over 700 Palestinian children each year...
