Chaplain at Pope's hospital calls for 'hope against all hope'
The scene outside Rome's Gemelli Hospital

The chaplain of Rome's Gemelli Hospital where the Pope is being treated has reportedly said the time has come to 'hope against all hope'.

Father Nunzio Corrao led a prayer at the hospital earlier today in which he is reported to have said:

'In this moment, I would like to ask for Abraham's same faith, the 'spes contra spem', hope against all hope.'

Latin phrase 'Spes contra spem' originates from St Paul's Epistle to the Romans and is used to describe someone who does not abandon all chances of hope despite facing adverse circumstances.

According to reports, Father Corrao recalled the pontiff's desire for peace during the prayer held in the St John Paul II chapel.

I am certain that the Pope is also using this moment of suffering to ask the Lord for peace after three years of war in Europe, as well as in the Middle East, without also forgetting the other wars.

I know Pope Francis is elderly, but I do question if the vaccine compromised his lungs even further or having Covid. Since I got Covid, I have been on daily inhalers.

One of my best friends is a believer in the shots, lines up for each one. Her heart is not good now, developed cancer etc.

With all the conflicting reports the past week, it's hard to believe anything.
I wonder if he is even alive at this point. I'm praying I'm wrong . Who is running the Vatican right now if Pope Francis is intubated?

So sad. Yes, I am seeing cancer all around us with vaxed as well. Bells Palsey is also caused by vax. Hard to watch. I remember watching a video that the worst effects would be 6-8 years following it. The spike protein keep proliferating. No idea where video is now.

It's a bit mad people praying for a very sick old man like him to get better. Do they want him to live forever? Best to pray for his Eternal Salvation.

I was reading a report in Portuguese stating that the announcement of nighttime prayer vigils for the pope's recovery is concerning because it brings to mind those held just days before Pope John Paul II passed away in 2005. I wonder, then, if the Vatican has a habit of concealing the severity of papal illnesses. In that case, could Francisco’s situation be one of therapeutic failure—meaning that medicine can no longer do anything for him?

They encourage people often to let go and die.

Living is not always the best thing

If Francis passes away overnight they'd probably put out a press release saying that he's 'suffering from a mild case of death'.

What led me to believe, at the very least, that the Pope is not intubated is the fact that the medical bulletin mentioned he called the parish priest of Gaza last night. This would create at least one hidden witness against them if they were lying.

I noticed that, in the case of the last two Popes, the tradition was to die within the Vatican walls—even Benedict XVI, who also had a respiratory infection. I even considered the possibility that they might transfer him to fulfill a final wish.
