Our Lady told us what we needed to do over and over and over again. Pray the rosary and do penance. She also told us very few were doing so. Such very little and simple things. I love Fr Ripperger like crazy, but I think sometimes he over complicates things
Just my experience in Canada. Actually, it’s funny because Canadians seem more interested in US politics, than in our own country. The faith is in poor shape in Canada.
Apparently, the Vatican stopped using the word "critical" to describe Pope Francis' health in the second medical bulletin released today. https://x.com/VaticanNews/status/1894816480534954244?t=xuCcDPpPeh6RoE7Xpd2v4A&s=19
I was wondering how He was approving Saints and doing his work in that "critical" stage. Alot of people seem to be wondering too.
He could barely read a speech in the days leading up to his hospitalization... It's truly hard to understand.
Vatican media are like all media maybe-- selective info and careful curating of their narrative. Hard to trust any news these days.
This user made this comment in response to Raymond Arroyo, who had posted the Vatican's second medical update on Pope Francis today. What he said about lung inflammation and the CT scan of the lungs is true? @BrianK , who is a doctor, might be able to explain? https://x.com/notinabluemoon/status/1894825200199332294?t=tCqCoe-7YLVnSEWpQezZlA&s=19
Some, probably very many, Catholics are very devoted but not nearly enough. Yes, abortion is a sin that cries out to Heaven for vengeance but it's not the only sin and it's not the only reason, probably not the main reason for the very low fertility rate in the US. Mass murder alao cries out to Heaven. How many of American pro-lifers joined the protests against your country's participation in genocide? How many of them shrugged their shoulders as protesters were manhandled by security forces or expelled from their colleges? I watched a priest say that illegal immigrants are fleeing Muslim extremism. My jaw dropped. It didn't seem to occur to him, and most likely his very many followers, that the vast majority of people flooding across US and European borders are possibly fleeing the consequences of US foreign policy. Yes, what they're doing is illegal but it's not necessarily immoral. US foreign policy, on the other hand, is often immoral. Doing the right thing on one moral issue doesn't excuse failure to do right on another, often many other issues.
It's not just the Democrats who are lukewarm, They're just easier to spot. Yes, we do point the finger at Germans but Germany is just another US vassal albeit it the most powerful country in Europe. The greatest decline in faith across what is categorised as the Western world happened in the period when the US wielded the most influence as the unipolar world power.
This is all speculation. There is no indication the pope has DIC ( Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation) or anything else Raymond hasn’t specifically mentioned.
Maybe the Pope doesn't want everyone in the world to be given his full medical record. He does have some right to privacy. We know that he is seriously ill and 88 years old. I have a vague memory of talk about a provision for a Pope to be replaced in the event that he became unable to carry out essential duties. I don't know whether that was an instruction from an individual Pope or whether it was something discussed at a stage when Canon law was being reviewed. Maybe the Vatican is keeping the lid on the gravity of the Pope's illness to ward off demands for a conclave. We just don't know so it's best to wait and see while praying for him.
Is the US the only country in the world to allow abortions? Is the US the only country to have an LGBTQ+ contingent? I think the issue isn’t just the Catholics in the US. I’m physically sick and grumpy so I apologize if I’m getting offended with all the US Catholic bashing
No, the US certainly isn't the only country in the world to allow abortions but it's most likely to be the biggest promoter and funder of contraception, abortion and LBTQ+ in other countries, especially developing countries, via US AID and other programmes. Depending on whether you're a conservative Republican or liberal Democrat, Pope Francis was either an evil Communist Jesuit or a quizzling collaborator with an evil military junta, while you are a helpless, devout Catholic suffering under yet another evil Pope. The solution? One side would have the US government send the three letter agencies to investigate the Church and expose the Pope to be a fraud. The other side will say that the solution is married priests and a woman Pope. And the puppet masters will hype it up for all its worth.
I'd argue that neither of those extremes is what your typical truly devout U.S. Catholic is like. But you don't hear much about them. They're quietly raising their families to love and serve God, on their knees every day asking God to help them be the change He wants to bring to the world. And they're in convents, monasteries, and seminaries, serving God 24/7. God doesn't need the loud and opinionated; He brings His graces into the world through humble prayer. Look at Mary, who barely said a word while working quietly behind the scenes. She's Queen of Heaven and Earth, and her heart WILL triumph over all of our mess.
I'd be inclined to agree with you. I'm merely reminding folk that abortion and LBQT+ are not the only items on the cafeteria menu. There's a Stefanik for every Pelosi. This thread is about Pope Francis. Deciding whether he's the valid Pope is above our pay grade and there have been no other contenders since he was elected. Archbishop Vigano was justly offended that his warnings about McCarrick were ignored but he has taken his grievance too far. We weren't in that Jesuit house in Argentina during the upheaval. There was plenty of US interference there, but that seems to be either highlighted or glossed over depending on the bias of the journalist/news agency. We're in no position to judge. I was and am very sympathetic towards Cardinal Zen. I believe, however, that he either made a mistake or was deceived when he vouched for some democracy activist group. We are obliged to obey the lawful government unless obedience goes against our faith. Democracy is not a tenet of our faith. We don't know the details of the Holy See's strategy in China. They might view a softly-softly approach as being the best way to evangelise, especially in a country where Christianity is regarded as a threat to Chinese culture and stability. We need to be careful about letting our Western mindset and short-term expectations influence our views on how the hierarchy chooses to spread the seed of faith in cultures that are alien to us. Pope or not, it's simply abhorrent to drag up slurs against a seriously ill old man. Now, to reassure anyone who suspects that the Pope may already have died, the parish priest of Gaza says that the Pope has 'phoned them every day since the beginning of the war: https://www.lpj.org/en/news/from-gaza-to-rome-peace
So many updates stating the Pope is doing this, doing that, phoning people - The poor man is on the cusp of entering eternity and has left the Church is a state of turmoil, I hope he would use some of his remaining time to reflect on that. This was a pontificate of utter, utter confusion. It was a catastrophic pontificate. I will not be sad when he passes, I will shed no tear. I will pray for his soul. "For God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." (1Corinthians 14 v33)
I have been praying for him daily and I wish that he will experience the happiness of heaven someday if God wills it. As St Maria Goretti forgave her killer, St John Paul 2 forgave his attacker, and Jesus forgave His killers. We ,as Catholics, pray for all sinners, even those who wrong us but no tear shall be shed... let us pray hard against what evil may come next.. with all the lying going on, I feel something sinister awaits..
