I'm hoping and praying for Erdő to get the nod. I know it's just wishful thinking though, it's like betting on a long shot dark horse at the racetrack. I'm also thinking Francis will one day make sainthood, probably not by the Catholic Church but rather by the Amazon Rainforest for holding the Synod and welcoming Pachamama to the Vatican. The Peruvian Incas might make a silver or gold coin with Francis on one side and Pachamama on the other. Viva la pachamama papa!
But I believe he is actually the strongest among the conservatives. I even mentioned in another discussion that the late Cardinal Pell was betting on him as the 'traditionalist' candidate. Pell, who was a brilliant man, may have perceived a certain fragmentation among the conservatives that could be exploited by the liberals. If the rumors about Parolin’s health crisis are true, the liberals might feel that his candidacy is weak and may start backing Cardinal Zuppi instead.
Im just praying the cardinals discern well the will of God and choose the pope the holy spirit desires. I have no idea who God desires to be pope so Im not praying for any one specific cardinal.
I was just watching Edward Pentin on the Conor McGregor show. If all that he says there is true things are really quite hopeful.
An excellent philosophy and approach EricH. But considering my abnormal brain, I can't stop thinking of all the peculiar shenanigans that have been going on - from when Pope Benedict XVI made his announcement to step aside to the present. It's like we're lost driving on a long trip and we need to make a complete u-turn. I'm thinking first was it a communist plot to have Benedict step aside and insert Francis as an "anti-pope"? Then I'm wondering what did Francis and his cronies do at the Vatican? I could picture them in my head (sort of like remote viewing) gathering together sipping Oban Single Malt Scotch and saying "hey lets have an Amazon Synod and we'll put pachamama on display and while we're at it lets make a formal decree to bless sodomites oh and by the way by golly we must put harsh restrictions on that latin mass oh heavens to betsy we better make sure of that." All while bashing capitalism, a system that as Dennis Prager puts it "is the one single system that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system in the entire history of the world." I think Francis was spoon fed a lot of communist ideologies growing up in Argentina while John Paul II actually suffered under it in Poland and knew far to well the evils of it and Benedict also had a totally different upbringing and harsh experiences in Germany.
