Martin Luther was mainly responsible, following this logic, for the Catholic Counter Reformation and the Council of Trent..

    Sigh, also.

We have a Vatican II pope. And he's already canonised his predecessor. This stuff is so hopelessly out of date, like playing that 'Lord of the Dance' monstrosity in Mass (heard it recently). Who do these Vatican IIers think they impress? Did all the martyrs die for nothing, when all the nice pagans could have been merrily left in their ignorance of Christ? According to VII logic, they stand a better chance of salvation than Catholics who know their faith and can't hide behind invincible ignorance. The ultimate conclusion must be to ban Catholicism in order to save everyone. I'll stop now, my head is getting sore.

Bishop Strickland has embraced Pope Leo XIV due to his love of Jesus Christ. According to the Bishop his acceptance of Pope Leo is a triumph of grace. So too has John Henry it seems. He has recovered from his initial wobble when he was in Rome, a recovery which he attributes to his interview with Bishop Strictland.

Meanwhile Fr. Kramer seems to be going in the opposite direction of a thumbs down for Pope Leo. In fact it would make one tremble if one really studies Fr. Kramer's words as they are very harsh but make a lot of sense. I knew a man whom I regarded as very Holy with an apostolate based on spreading the messages of Fatima. When I mentioned Fr. Gruner to him he warned me that he was 'schismatic'. And I do believe Fr. Kramer, his close associate, would have been similarly characterized - although he never mentioned him. All very confusing.

May Pope Leo receive the graces he needs to lead the Church in these times.

What I don't understand here is that the interviewer, Jeff Rense, admits he is not Catholic; yet he constantly seems to be speaking on behalf of the Catholic faithful. He has no dog in this fight so to speak and has no credentials to interview on this matter. Similarly, why is Fr. Kramer chatting with a non-Catholic and accepting his prompts. Might he not just as well be chatting with Martin Luther?

Cardinal Muller is quoted on LifeSiteNews, I think I read it, as saying that the election of Pope Leo is 'the work of the Holy Spirit'. This is, for me, a very encouraging endorsement.

Also, I read this morning on CWN that Pope Leo is invoking Our Lady of Fatima and asking Catholics to pray the Rosary daily for the intention of peace in the world.

Pope Leo might be a bit of a Vatican II hippy, but he's definitely a Catholic. I feel things are more right with the world, with this being the case. Please God, may he actually implement the teachings of the Council, rather than the 'spirit of VII' modernist interpretation, starting with that passage that declares that a Pope may not use his office to lend authority to opinions on matters that are outside his remit. So far, so good on that matter, I think.

I appreciate what others have posted here about PL14. But I really don't pay much attention to those who decide they don't "like" him. There are certain priests and journalists whose opinions I have never been able to abide.

If he professes Christ as the Savior of the world, that is already an excellent sign. He may even stumble in his speech by favoring Francis's legacy with words, tributes, and visits to his tomb; however, by exalting the One whose very name makes demons tremble, he shows himself to be a vessel for the glorification of God, not a stumbling block. We should not expect any ambiguous interviews with atheist journalists, without recorders, casting doubt on the main dogmas of the Catholic faith.

In the artwork that Taylor Marshall attached to one of his tweets today, Pope Leo XIV looks remarkably similar to John Paul II.

As far as I can find, this new Bishop of St Gallen was decided last Autumn and it seems his appointment was ratified by Pope Leo only last Wednesday. This is not necessarily a sign of support for the 'mafia', but he didn't choose to oppose them either. Maybe, like John Paul II, he will be responsible for the appointment of multiple untraditional bishops. This does not make him another Pope Francis, but it indicates this modernist scourge may be far from over. There is also the possibility that this might be the least radical priest in this diocese. Better still, he might have changed his mind about the futile 'women priest' option, or at least agreed to keep quiet about it.

I wouldn't be so worried about the nuns issue. There's no profound doctrinal issue involved and it might be considered the best way of providing a role for all these women who are clamouring to join the Church (sarcasm). Pope Leo might now have more control over this Swiss cleric. Of course, it is all down to the Pope's intentions and most people are understandably, and rightly, on the defensive.

Regarding the Charlotte issue, is it a case of enforcing new Leo XIV policy or is this Bishop seeing how far he can go? Testing the waters, in other words (according to Father Z and his commenters, this might be a pre-emptive strike by a Bishop of Charlotte who seems to be an anti-traditional ideologue-it would be premature to lay the blame yet on Pope Leo).

    This uncertainty is agonising.

You are very, very, very charitable indeed. I wish I could be more like this. All the saints say you should always try to think the best of things like this and people. I am afraid I am utterly incapable of this.
When I do try to think nice thoughts of things like this a little voice within me screams, ' That's Bullshit and you know it's bullshit!! ' and all my efforts to be nice fail.

But very happily all the other Catholic commentators are saying very nice things about all this so it doesn't really matter about what horrid, nasty, cranky, old cynical people such as myself thinks.

I will keep my thoughts to myself , but they are far from pleasant thoughts. Everyone else can be really, really, really nice to make up for me..and they are. With my dark thoughts and suspicions I appear to be in a minority of just about one. At least at this stage.

I see even EWTN's , 'The Papal Posse', is now called, 'The prayerful Posse'. Sigh. I much preferred the nasty go for the throat Papal Posse version . Being nice all the time must be exhausting for everyone. I will not even try.
