I have not checked the entire thread to see if someone said this already... I heard the house that St. Therese was born in was burned to the ground in the last week...Not at Lesuix https://www.facebook.com/groups/305451908016773/?ref=share&mibextid=CTbP7E
From Sr. Julia Mary Darrenkamp Fsp: “Imperfect” for most means anything but happy. We want to be the best, top of our game, experts in our field, capable, strong, self-sufficient. But happy? For that, we need to learn from the “best” in heavenly wisdom, and Therese is a great teacher. Today’s her feast day…so instead of striving, let’s try surrender. That was one of her strengths: trustful surrender. But it can also be ours. And so can the happiness that comes with it. Art by Nicole Lanthier
The Little Flower has played a significant role in my family, especially last century. My Grandfather Dan had a deep devotion to her, I was born on her birth date of January 2, and my son Benjamin was born on her feast day of October 1. Dear Therese, continue to intercede for the O'Loughlin clan that we remain faithful to to God and His Church!
Prayers and help from st therese .my elderly parents were attending holy hour and came home to their house broken into .they are very shaken.the devil obviously not happy about the work being done in holy hour what a pathetic creature he is.
I am so sorry to hear that. We had a knock on our door this evening from a man saying he was from the Utility company and wanted to see our gas bill to see if we were overcharged. He had an official looking gas company I.D. I told him to move on. There were two of them going up and down the street. I called the police and they sent a driver out, have not seen them since. I don't think they were legit . . .so many scams, so many shady characters out there.
What a blessing that they weren't home when the perpetrators arrived! A great sign that they were at Holy Hour. God is watching over and protecting them.
It was lovely to have an entire Feast Day in honour of St Therese and so to have more time to think about her. My big takeaway was her deep love of Scripture. It is not something you hear people talking a lot about but clearly her life revolved around the Bible.
So sad. Prayers for your parents! So unsettling when feeling so vulnerable. Holy Spirit, comfort Mylordandmygod's family with Your peace beyond understanding!
From Catholic Arena: "Hundreds of people attended a procession of the relics of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux and her parents Saints Louis and Zelie at the Legion of Mary in Dublin this weekend The relics were then venerated by THOUSANDS "
From Totus Tuus: "Marcel Nguyen Tan Van was born in 1928 in a Catholic village in northern Vietnam. From early childhood he longed for holiness. He made his First Communion at age six and entered a monastery as an aspirant to the priesthood. Yet jealousy from older boys brought him harsh treatment, deprivation, and spiritual trials. Family tragedies followed—cyclones, poverty, his father’s despair, and his brother’s blindness. For a time Marcel lived as a homeless beggar. In 1942 he found himself in a parish dedicated to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus. One day, asking God to guide him to a good book, he randomly selected Story of a Soul. As he read, tears flowed. The simplicity of Thérèse’s love for Jesus transformed him. Soon the Little Flower began appearing to him. She called him her “little brother,” became his teacher and constant companion, and revealed that he would never become a priest. Instead, she told him, he was called to be a “hidden apostle of Love”—a source of spiritual support for missionary priests, the very “heart of priests.” Marcel embraced this vocation with quiet fidelity. After the fall of the French at Dien Bien Phu, he voluntarily went north into communist territory. Arrested in 1955, he died in prison four years later at the age of 31. Declared a Servant of God in 1997, his cause for beatification continues. Through suffering and unexpected grace, St. Thérèse shaped Marcel into an apostle of love, showing that holiness often blooms in the most hidden and difficult places."
