Watching those women stomping around disrupting the people peacefully saying their prayers outside the locked Church was such a perfect example of how the devil works. Evil tries to distract and disrupt prayer, and there it was right before our eyes with those women unwittingly doing the devils job for it. We need to pray for those who have lost their Faith, they truly do not know what they are doing. God help and save them.
How beautiful are those who Love Our Lord! I am spiritually strengthened by witnessing these beautiful souls! May God Bless them abundantly by drawing many souls to Himself through this, their act of courage and peace for Our Lord! Amen
Wow Ireland has it Bad! What is wrong in Ireland and Why? Australia is bad at present but we have not yet reached the level portrayed in Ireland! The demonic voices heard after the prayers of the faithful, speak in comfort knowing that they are backed by unjust laws! It is a forewarning of what all good Catholics and good Christians can expect in the near future I fear! Lord Have Mercy
From the Mass readings in Ireland today. The second reading, which is Romans 13:11-14. But there's a problem. I was following along with my 1973 edition of the Roman Missal. It turns out that the second reading is actually Romans 13:11-13 + 0.5x14. Verse 14 is truncated! This is what I heard and read in the current readings for Ireland "Let your armour be the Lord Jesus Christ. The Word of the Lord" Period, full stop after 'Jesus Christ'. So what is missing? In my 1973 Missal, the period is actually not a period but a semicolon. Secondly, the semicolon is followed by the sentence: "forget about satisfying your bodies with all their cravings." In the New Jerusalem Bible the period referred to is actually a comma followed by the conjunctive sentence, "and stop worrying about how your disordered natural inclinations may be fulfilled." And in the iPieta app. the period is actually a colon followed by the following text: "and make not provision for the flesh in its concupisences." So the Irish Church is purposely deleting any reference to concupisence, disordered natural inclinations and sin. St. Paul is being silenced and sanitized. And all the Bishops and Priests and Deacons in Ireland are knowingly complicit in this. The new Church has to fit in with our modern way of life. We don't want scaring the children now, do we? Could it not be included with a commentary from the Priest to say that of course we must take care of our legitimate needs to maintain our health etc. n for t
Here is the reading from the U.S. It does not stop at Jesus Christ. Aren't the readings supposed to be the same in our one holy Catholic Church? Reading 2 Romans 13:11-14 Brothers and sisters: You know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed; the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us then throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves properly as in the day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and lust, not in rivalry and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.
This is apparently a difference between the readings authorized by the different Episcopal Conferences. However, if you care about such things (and you should), there are many inexplicable deletions much more damaging than the one you mentioned in the Novus Ordo when compared to the Traditional Missal. As a Deacon, who prior to my recent injury, was preaching two times a month, I have been discouraged by what I would consider inaccurate translations of Biblical texts included in the Lectionary. Not constantly, but at times watering down certain precise wording that regular parishioners would miss. Irritation creation for me! One might ask is that worth getting upset about? I would say DEFINITELY. And a revised translation of the Lectionary readings is again being introduced in 2027. Sigh!
But if you will read that book by Matthew Hazell, you will see not just bad translations, but verses completely removed from the readings that had been in place for centuries. And if you read enough of them, you will see a pattern emerge. The NuChurch consciously edited the Scriptures to avoid certain harsh statements of Jesus and the Apostles. It becomes Scripture lite.
It's woke-ness! Can't offend anyone clinging to certain sins and attitudes i guess. Scripture is very blunt. Might "wound" someone. I hated it when they changed all the pronouns some years back stripping God of all masculine modifiers. ARGHH. How dare they do so!! But they did and do.
That's what I thought but I did further investigation. It seems all of of the Parishioners across the whole of Ireland and the UK get the truncated version of Romans 13:14. In contrast the in the US the USCCB approves the complete text of Romans 13 verse 14. Ireland and the UK seem to use readings based on Universalis which truncates the verse. The iPieta app and website use the Douay Rheims version which is the English translation of St. Jeromes Latin translation (the Vulgate) of the original Gospels. When I looked on Bible Gateway, I found that even the "Easy-to-Read Version" is close to the original text! 14: "But be like the Lord Jesus Christ, so that when people see what you do, they will see Christ. Don’t think about how to satisfy the desires of your sinful self." My conclusion is that the Church in Ireland and the UK are in the vanguard of the newly developing form of the Church. The new Synodal Church which talks about "the sin of the world" [eco-sin] but not the "sins" of individuals. Perhaps I am being too harsh, God forgive me for judging and being rigid.
I don't think you are being too harsh. Not at all. There's a very obvious layer of wokeness being laid upon the Truth of the Church. However, concealing Truth does not change it or make it go away. If it's any consolation, in my Mass yesterday evening, the 'concupiscence' line was in the reading and the priest spoke upon it in his sermon, even recommending confession. It wasn't fire-and-brimstone stuff, but I'd imagine priests have to thread carefully these days, so I wouldn't criticise him for that.
Ok. Not sure why your parish had the full verse. I checked 5 different parishes across Ireland and some in Northern Ireland, England and Scotland and they all had the deleted version.
Not all parishes have modern lectionaries. So even if the laity is reading from the modern missal, the readers and Priest still read from the lectionary.
Yes although readers often read from the printed missal leaflet rather than the lectionary, because that is the one they have practised with. To be honest I have even seen the Priest use the printed missal at times.
