Prayers for all here who are in the path of this storm.
Our forecast has been all over the place, and there is still no certainty. Please Lord, keep our families safe, and bless all of our households with power.

Praying for you! We'll pray plenty of Divine Mercy Chaplets.

My brother is supposed to drive from TX up to a monastery in northern OK on Monday for several days of discernment...and now we're wondering if he's not going to be able to drive it safely. That will be such a bummer because he's waiting for this opportunity for a long time. Maybe he'll only be delayed a day or two... I don't know how long the roads will be bad.

you also (and Texas) don’t have the infrastructure (or as many) that northerners do when winter storm hits and this one they say will hit hard. We’re supposed to get 20” of snow here. I’m just hoping the electrical lines don’t go.

    prayers for all!

More prayers today. I find it inspiring and a great comfort how well you face this all. :) For a city boy living in the country it teaches me that trials like this can be faced with Faith almost as a matter of course with courage and determination. Almost as a matter of course. I must admit since I moved to the country I kind of freaked out the two times my power went out, even in the summer. You remind me that challenges are not the end of the World.

We ourselves are in the midst of a fierce Lake Effect storm though, with eventually another foot of snow and wind chills in the -15F range. A terrible day for Fed Ex or whomever to be out delivering. Hopefully their deliveries have been curtailed even though we are expecting a new microwave oven to be delivered.

    And then:

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY EVENING...

    * WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy lake effect snow.
Additional snow accumulations 8 to 16 inches in the most
persistent bands. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce
blowing and drifting snow. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow
    with significant accumulations likely.

    * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. The greatest additional
accumulations from lake effect snow will fall across the Tug Hill
    Plateau.

It will be tough to get to Holy Mass this weekend! O well, it is January!

We just found it will hit us on Sunday. 6-12 inches. But its the cold that concerns me. 10 below becomes 20 below with wind chill. It makes getting to Mass and iffy proposition. Lots of warnings about being out in it.

How long is the storm supposed to last? Probably a good time to stock up on necessities.

3 days for the lower part of the US up to Boston. For us two days of snow. But tbe weekend the wind chills are the big story.

Yes, so cold. Doesn't look like it will warm up next week either. We are going down to the single digits Saturday morning.

I’ve lived in a 30 foot camper trailer on a friend’s property in northwest Virginia for six years now and have stayed here through every winter storm so far.

But my primary heat now is the trailer’s propane furnace. (I just couldn’t keep up with the demands of my tiny wood stove and processing firewood for it any more.)

But THIS storm is different. If it was just a foot or two of snow I’d stay through it too.

With its forecast for heavy snow accumulations as well as ice and bitterly cold temps,
    IMG_9891.jpeg

I’m bugging out to my sister’s in Harrisburg. If the electricity goes out here I have no heat because the propane hot air furnace fan won’t run. Our water comes from a well. Without electricity the well pump won’t run so no water supply.

My sister has a wood stove as well as a propane fireplace if the electricity goes out. But they’re only expecting heavy snow, no ice, so loss of power shouldn’t be an issue there.

Continuing to pray for all in the path of this storm, for safety and for the power to stay on.

I feel silly, seeing what you all are up against. Right now it's pouring rain. It's been raining all day and there is at least an inch of standing water everywhere that will likely freeze once we dip below freezing. The forecast shows the rain never ending, until Sunday. Just endless freezing rain and 20 degree weather until it changes to snow and temps in the single digits on Sunday.

My husband is leaving for work in an hour and if we're lucky he'll be back on Monday.
