Wonderful post. I read Young Goodman Brown many years ago. Hawthorne was a great very insightful writer. The traveler he meets in the forest - often read as the Devil— reveals that many respected members of Brown’s community, including church leaders and pious townspeople, secretly consort with evil. Brown believes he hears his wife Faith’s voice at the satanic gathering deep in the woods and sees what appears to be her pink ribbon floating down from the sky. I clearly remember the pink ribbon and its significance. Stanley Kubricks unpleasant, disturbing movie “Eyes Wide Shut” is sort of an updated Hollywood version of “Young Goodman Brown” I think.
Blizzard, did you read the article posted earlier at the link WBTW is referring to? A book published in 2020 casts significant doubt on the nature of M. Robin's mysticism. I was taken aback by it at the time, as I thought she was completely genuine.

So disturbing. Epstein's tentacles were far reaching and shocking. According to the recently released files posted on X, Epstein was also associated with a brothel in a Boston suburb where young girls were groomed to be "available" specifically for Massachusetts democrats. I wasn't aware about Epstein's involvement with the MIT media lab until watching this video, but they did receive big money from donors, so it all makes sense. My son worked briefly for the media lab after graduating from college, and all I can say is that it was a frightening experience. There are many who believe that Epstein's suicide in jail was staged, and he is still alive.

Not wanting to diminish the very serious nature of what is being discussed and what is at stake. But I avoid watching a lot of this content. I would also be worried about making the well known error of imposing "guilt by association". I think one thing Pope Francis did get right was when he said, don't accuse others but accuse yourself. But I understand that when it comes to protection of people and minors then it is important to uproot this evil. Maybe I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth? I think I am calling for moderation and discernment ...
I am sad to hear about Marthe Robin . I never really knew much about her but there were I know a huge number of poor people who did. So sad where do they turn now. This reminds me of a couple of funny stories I read. St John of the Cross was called into see a famous nun who had a reputation for being a saint and wonder worker. When he met the nun he said he was looking to meet the saint. The nun replied, 'That's me'. St John of the Cross turned on his heels and left and that was that. Another story I read was of a rich widow in Rome who became widely known in the city because of the huge amount of money she gave to charity. After her death there was a big push to have her canonised until it was discovered she had left a huge amount of money in her will to push her cause for sainthood. It is very concerning that so many priests and Bishops were caught up in all this and none of them suspected a fraud.
I don;t think the trouble has been that people have been calling out the evil too much. I think the problem was in the cover up. The cover up that is still ongoing. I remember at the onset of the Clerical Abuse crisis I thought the whole thing was made up by the enemies of the Church to attack her. Foolish me. I hope they keep digging away into this filth.

Padraig, what's also very sad is that two priests closely associated with Marthe Robin were later found to have engaged in seriously inappropriate behavior towards women. Father Georges Finet was M. Robin's spiritual director since they met in 1936 and the co- founder with her of the Foyers de Charite: "In 2020, research commissioned by the Foyers de Charité revealed that Father Finet had engaged in inappropriate behavior with some women during confession or spiritual direction, which has led to a re-evaluation of his figure, while the work of Marthe Robin continues to be recognized, according to a document from Les Foyers de Charité." Also Father Bernard Peyrous, the Postulator of her Cause for Beatification since 1996, was removed from the position in 2017 following charges of inappropriate sexual behavior against an adult woman.
What a can of worms. Poor ,poor souls. Don't they know there is a hell and this is seriously, seriously sinful and will provoke the wrath of God. Prayers for all. But it makes me think of another female mystic who is very famous and I have my doubts about. I will not name her or her supporters will go nuts. But anyway prayers for all. Poor souls.
