Could you pray for our house situation?

We live somewhere where I have to drive upwards of three hours a day shuttling the kids back-and-forth to school and doing basic things like grocery shopping. Someone needing a doctor’s appointment, or needing something brought to school, can easily add another hour and a half of driving to that day. My hips are no longer up to it, and my husband is dealing with a work injury that prevents him from taking some of that load. We can’t move closer to it or doctors because he’s transitioning to a disability income and it’s too expensive.

So our plan is to move over the summer, someplace where we can afford to live near a good hospital and a good Catholic school, and preferably walking distance to regular Adoration. The “coming soon” period of marketing our house has not gone as well as we had hoped, and homes in the areas we are looking to move to are going incredibly fast. It’s really bringing my husband down.

I would appreciate everyone’s prayers that when our house goes fully on the market, it is sold quickly and smoothly for a good price that enables us to put an offer on a house that will fit all of us, and that a house that will fit all of us is available to buy

We have nine kids living with us right now and we haven’t been in a position to do much updating on our current home, so it’s a big ask- but God has always provided in the past and I trust him too now. I guess I’m kind of asking for prayers that when He does provide, He makes it really obvious and quick for the benefit of my husband’s spirit

I'll be doing the Our Lady, Un-doer of Knots novena soon and will keep you in those intentions. St Joseph will be asked as well. We have some similar situations here too so I understand completely ;)

I highly recommend the Holy Cloak Novena to St. Joseph, if you haven't tried that yet! St. Joseph has always come through for us. I will pray for you!

Prayers to St.Joseph for a quick sale. All of that commuting certainly takes it's toll. Hope you find a wonderful home for your family.

I have put this in my little leather note book so I'll keep on praying for it everyday.

I have to say I admire you deeply for your Faith through all this. So many Crosses but your Faith shines out. This is wonderful

The Holy Cloak novena is 30 days, so maybe it's the same one? St. Joseph doesn't always answer right away. But when you look back, you can always see why he delayed, or why the answer was a bit different than expected. He ALWAYS answers somehow.

You may be accustomed to it, alusia, but it sounds like a huge time-consumer!:( (lots of Rosaries!)(y)

I wanted to add, Aluisa, that we've gone through something very similar in the recent past, and God did delay His answer and allowed things to drag out in such a way that it severely tested the faith and patience of my husband, and was a great emotional trial for me. But I absolutely would not change a thing about it, if I could, because my husband and I grew SO much during that time. Our faith, and our marriage, are so much stronger because of what God allowed us to endure. My husband almost seems like a whole new person now.

So if God does not answer quickly in the way you are hoping, hang in there and keep trusting...even when you see your husband struggling terribly. God has not abandoned you or him, and He will work it all out for your good.

It is so much time. I alternate between spiritual audiobooks, rosaries, and historical mystery audiobooks every few months. I’ve been doing this for 11 years now. There was one year before COVID where I was getting through upwards of twenty decades a day but I had greater strength of concentration then.

I enjoy the quiet time, but it’s hard on the joints and I have two in car seats that have to go with me all the time. It’s far too much time for them to be buckled in five days a week. So we’re set on using this unexpected change as a chance to find somewhere with a quieter pace of life, God willing.

I’ve done the Holy Cloak Novena before, for job searches for the kids. St Joseph has always come through. It’s a good suggestion. Thank you.

I do feel uncertain insofar as we’ve never had to make a decision to move before. It’s always been because of job transfers. I’m quite unused to having so much choice (we can basically move anywhere, as long as it’s cheaper than where we are now, and everywhere is cheaper than we are now) and it feels like a different kind of trust is needed.

Most of what’s ever happened to me has been out of my control and I’ve only had to do my best to respond with a good will. Now, I am going to be thoroughly responsible for whatever I do and I have to trust God to make up for my inevitable inadequacies  It’s a daunting prospect.

I have told the Lord that if He wants to make it easy for me, I need to see a four bathroom house right next to a church pop up in my real estate app. My favorite writer was an anchoress and I always thought that would be a good retirement option once the kids all fly the nest
