No one really knows how many are going to hell at the moment. Proof from the contrary is no less convincing: if we do not allow the Spirit to lead us, we fall back into the slavery of sin.38 How can the Holy Spirit be our life if our heart is far from him? Nothing is equal to prayer; for what is impossible it makes possible, what is difficult, easy.... For it is impossible, utterly impossible, for the man who prays eagerly and invokes God ceaselessly ever to sin.39 Those who pray are certainly saved; those who do not pray are certainly damned40 Now we are living in the time of the Great Apostacy how are we to tell if people are praying or not so that we may judge if they are being saved? I would guess a person who cannot even be bothered going to Sunday Mass is certainly not praying. In either case the Church itself informs us that those who do not so without good reason is living in a State of Grave sin. Now where I live in Spain as far as I can tell very,very few go to Sunday Mass. My own guess would be then that very, very few around here will be saved. If we cannot even be bothered going to Mass on Sundays which is the very,very basic minimun we are basically Apostate. We have voted with our feet. The same goes for those who no longer go to confession. The idea that God is a kind of go along get along God and will get over all this is simply not Scriptural nor is it in line with the Teachings of the Church. God is Merciful . Yes. But He is also just. While over 50% of Spaniards identify as Catholic, regular church attendance is very low. According to national polls, only about 12.1% of religious Spaniards attend Mass every Sunday and on holidays, while nearly 48.5% never or barely ever attend. I felt very close to Jesus in prayer earlier but it goes away again. This can be difficult. I guess we won't always feel close to God although it is comforting when we do.
Feelings rise and fall. Very unreliable. The important thing is the rock of truth. Jesus is with you always--even when you cant " feel" Him. Especially when you cant feel Him.
He feels far away at the moment but was reading earlier that one shouldn't judge their spiritual lives by either consolations or dryness or whatever be the case.
You know Jesus is beside you, allowing this, ask Him to give you what you need to get through this. And know we are all praying for you.
