Crisis Magazine is very, very good.

Also the last edition from the Papal Posse on utube EWTN

I always feel guilty that I don't read more serious stuff but to be honest an awful lot of such stuff bores the socks of me

I think I will read the life of Father Dolindo next. He was horribly tormented by Church authorities his entire life but endured them with huge sanctity and humility They slandered the poor man abominable. He just took it and offered it all up

I think Father Dolindo are such huge teachers for out times.

It is not so much our minds that need instructed as our hearts.

Looking for insight to time. The phrase “a thousand years is like a day”. A day of earth is the same as a thousand years in heaven if I’m getting that right. So if it is calculated, then how many years would be in a minute, or five minutes of earth time? I am right brained and math side doesn’t like to compute. So for instance if I had a brother who died 60 years ago in earth time, how long would that be in heaven time? See the things I wonder about!

I've always thought that that phrase was more poetic than literal. When I write poetry, I tend to use a thousand to indicate a very long time or amount, without actually meaning a specific thousand. I believe that when God looks at the world from His vantage-point of the eternal moment, He sees our timeline rolled out like a scroll before Him. He can see time all at once. So He can look at a thousand years and see it all as if it's only one day. Our passage of time just doesn't affect those who are outside of time, in eternity-- which isn't measured.

That's how I understand it, anyway. I'm sure it's much more mysterious than that.

Yes I’ve felt that in Heaven it is linear. Just something I’m meditating on

Have you noticed how time is being shortened? The minutes are less dense. The hours too. And the days shrivel up and blow away. I've never seen anything like this. All is seemingly the same but there is simply less time. I keep thinking of Jesus's Words that if the days were not shortened even the elect woukd be deceived. Is this what is happening?

    1 min = 0.7 years
    5 mins = 3.5 years
    60 years = 21,900 years.

So if the scripture says one earth day is like a thousand years in heaven. And Mary said the average person spends about 25 years in purgatory, then really there is very little time in purgatory to be purified. I’ve lost a lot of friends and relatives in the past year and wonder about them. Lost my older brother on Tuesday, 78 of a massive heart attack. I suppose I shouldn’t concern myself about these things but think God gave us this information as a comfort.

Rest in Peace. 78 is a good age.

St Therese of Liseaux said we should pray to avoid purgatory not for our own sake but for His, so He should not have to see us suffer. That was so beautiful. She also said if we pray that way we will avoid purgatory.
