Thank you, Fatima, for the link above with the article by Suzanne Pearson on Malachi Martin. I have yet to read all of it and want to study it in detail. But some words of warning about Malachi Martin. Firstly, he was negative about Medjugorje. In my book, that betrays a serious discernment problem. He was also sceptical about the Charismatic movement. But, as I have indicated elsewhere, I've been very impressed by journalist Antonio Socci's book about Fatima and Socci found Fr Martin to be somewhat unreliable as a witness. Nevertheless, I look forward to studying the article.

As I indicated in my previous post, I have learned not to rely so much on what others have said or believe on any particular prophetic messages. Father Fox, who I admired on many fronts taught me this. I would like to know why Antonio found Father Martin to be somewhat unreliable and why Father Martin, allegedly, was negative on Medjugorje. Not that it would change my mind, but I always like to hear the arguments against what I believe. It always makes me stronger in my understanding when I hear the opposing views.

Well, although I am not very keen on posting anti-Medjugorje material on this forum, I think I need to do so here so that you become aware of Fr Martin's strong opposition to Medjugorje. His reasons are largely faulty through ignorance but he should have informed himself more thoroughly before publicly denouncing the apparitions. Here is a video in which he speaks about Medjugorje and the maker of the video inserts his own visual material:

To counterbalance the above anti-medjugorje video, I'm going to post an unusual video of an apparition to Mirjana 20 years ago! There are so many videos available of Mirjana's appartitions in recent years but this relatively old one is very interesting to watch. It is also moving as, afterwards, she attempts to read or speak about the message she was given.

    Here is the video:

  5. I have listened to every one of Fr. Martin's audios that is available online and I used to sit with my husband in our van in our carport (our 'date') and listen to him. He was very much a traditionalist and saw clearly what was going on in the Church, but like most of us --had very bad experiences with 'charismatic' people and groups. The kum-bi-ya atmosphere at Medjugorje with the Franciscans bothered him a lot. But seriously, many things have 'evolved' also at Medjugorje. More adoration, more confession, more piety. Our Lady is converting the world and is working with the bottom dwellers here with NO faith at all up to the most pious! Charismatic people have gotten a bad rap for all kinds of good reasons, but that particular gift has evolved also--all over the world. WE WERE BABIES! In my old church we had so many groups and you were labeled. You could be either Charismatic OR Marian--NOT both...lol It was ridiculous! It was one of the reasons I went over to the Byzantine Rite. The mystery, the mystics, the Holy Spirit, Our Lady were all rolled up into one and it was soooo beautiful and NOT complicated!!
I think people are finally seeing it for what it is. Where our Lady is, the Holy Spirit is, and vice versa.

I have always been uneasy around charismatics myself, largely due to the reason that those I knew around me were allot like protestants who talked in tongues while others were apparently interpreting them. Those that I knew were also ignorant and soft on Church doctrines. The one charismatic that I admire is Ralph Martin. He is one who is solidly Catholic in practice, but also has the gift of chrism.

  7. I don't mean to be a school teacher, but chrism is an oil... You must mean charism or charm. The gift of tongues is a legit spiritual gift. It is the 'least' of the gifts, but it is very valid. I'd have to agree that most are soft on church doctrine. Its a 'touchy-feely'' kinda thing. Although, it doesn't feel that way when the Lord wants you to pray over priests and Bishops!! Its very serious! He has had me do that.

Having read with interest these above comments, the questions I propose are, "why all the secrecy and why not go ahead with the consecration of Russia as requested?" To my mind, the consecration of any country, that like Russia had been bound by atheistic communism for so long would be of tremendous benefit to all concerned; God and humanity alike. The only one who would find such to be a deficit would be the one with the horns and pitch-fork.

You are right - the enemy complicates things; the Lord loves simplicity.

There are books and books written about the reasons it has not been done, but I believe the main reason is that, to date, it has not been possible to make the consecration in union with all the bishops of the world because the majority of bishops have not been in union with the Holy Father. I believe after the great apostasy only Bishops in union with the Holy Father will remain in the Church, and then it can be done. Late; very late.

I kind of agree Kathy, If the laity had embraced the message I think the consecration would of happened. The request came in 1929 when The Pope had much support..
Then Our Lady said to me: ‘The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to My Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means. So numerous are the souls which the justice of God condemns for sins committed against Me, that I come to ask for reparation. Sacrifice yourself for this intention and pray.’.http://www.fatima.org/essentials/facts/tuy.asp
