Somone here began a 50 day Rosary recently. I've been praying every single Rosary for this intention since that thread was started. God help us practicing Catholics. Spare a thought and many prayers for the teachers who will have serious career decisions to make: Do I stick to the faith or compromise. "....those who accept compromises" Our Lady of Akita
In case there might be some confusion: that was a Protestant bishop, Church of Ireland, who is voting Yes to the referendum. No Catholic bishop has said that but it appears only Bishop Doran, newly appointed, is campaigning strongly for a No vote. That Irish Times report is quite typical. It reads like some nice conference discussing the ins and outs of the issue but notice how every speaker is massively in favour of gay marriage! We need all the prayers we can get for this one...
I'm doing the 50day Rosary, I think Divine mercy Sunday just gone was the mid-way point. http://ionainstitute.org/index.php?id=3918
Sorry I should have said, this one: http://www.irishtimes.com/news/soci...ay-price-for-stance-on-gay-marriage-1.2172982 .
Ok, Scolaire Bocht. Thank you. Just so others don't get your article confused with mind for the sake of truth, clarity. God Bless! I do not wish to completely blacklist this priest; Fr O’Donovan from my recent article. However, he does have some troubling history: "Fr O’Donovan was the subject of a complaint that he allowed godparents to pour water on a baby’s head during a baptism, which was addressed to Cardinal Sean Brady and subsequently forwarded to Rome. It was claimed that the baptism was not carried out in accordance with church rites. The baby was baptised for a second time, after another priest in the diocese approached the parents and told them the baby would have to be baptised again - but not by Fr O’Donovan." Troubling times indeed. Pray! Pray! Source: limerickleader.ie
I am just curious; do any of you actually know any homosexuals as friends? Perhaps I am alone in this, but at the moment I don't know a single one?
EXCLUSIVE: Mary McAleese calls for Yes vote in same-sex marriage referendum The former president told George Hook that the marriage referendum 'is about children - Ireland's gay children' http://www.newstalk.com/Mary-McAleese:-Samesex-referendum-is-about-children--gay-children Catholic Church teachings on homosexuality "will change over time" In January of 2014 McAleese, who is currently visiting Notre Dame to complete a doctorate in canon law, said the issue of homosexuality for the Catholic Church was, “not so much the elephant in the room but a herd of elephants”. Describing the words of Pope Benedict – who called homosexuality "intrinsically disordered" - as “rather regrettable”, Ms McAleese predicted that the Catholic Church’s teachings on homosexuality “will change over time.” “Our thinking, the world’s thinking, about homosexuality is changing. The sheer weight of medical evidence, the sheer weight of psychiatric evidence now is challenging views that were formed, you could say, in ignorance, and I think they will change over time. Image: Former president Mary McAleese speaking with George Hook on The Right Hook, at Notre Dame University “They’ve already changed elsewhere and we’ve seen in many, many countries now embracing the idea that homosexuality is a perfectly normal human sexual expression and that it is, as it has been thought in the past, a skewed, or in the words of the church, the rather regrettable words of the church – when I think back to what Benedict has written about it when he described it as ‘intrinsically disordered’. “Many of us do not believe it to be ‘intrinsically disordered’ but believe it to be a perfectly normal human adaptation,” she added. 17:52 13 Apr 2015 Eoin Brennan EXCLUSIVE: Mary McAleese calls for Yes vote in same-sex marriage referendum http://www.newstalk.com/-Mary-McAleese:-Young-gay-men-are-most-at-risk-of-suicide Mary McAleese: Young gay men are "most at risk" of suicide In an exclusive interview the former president has called for a Yes vote in referendum Former president Mary McAleese has said there is “a great debt” owed to young gay people who have “been forced into the shadows” and “into self-doubt” by society’s attitudes towards homosexuality - with young gay men "most at risk" of suicide. In an exclusive interview with The Right Hook, in which she called for a yes vote in the May 22nd same-sex marriage referendum, Ms McAleese pointed to the high rate of suicide and self-harm in young gay men as a result of the attitudes in the Catholic Church, and society, towards homosexuality. Telling George Hook demanded a change in attitudes to homosexuality, in the hope of eroding the persecution and isolation that can be at the root of mental health issues, leading to self-harm and suicide young gay people. “We have in Ireland a very serious problem of youth suicide, particularly of male suicide, and we now know from the evidence that one of the most at risk groups of cohorts within that age group - sort of 15-25 - is the young male homosexual,” she said. “We owe those children a huge debt as adults” she said, adding that Ireland must allows those individuals to “have opportunities to make choices that impact their lives, to make the right choices, choices that will allow their lives to grow organically.” The former president said a Yes vote would give gay people, “the joy of being full citizens in their own country”. Ms McAleese, who is currently completing a doctorate in Canon Law at Notre Dame University in the United Sates, said the ostracising Church attitude in particular could be devastatingly harmful to the mental health and well-being of a gay person raised in the faith. “(It) is a terrible thing for a young person who has grown up in the church and being told they are loved absolutely, to discover at 15,16 or 17 that all the language they have heard, particularly the homophobic language that they may have heard ... applies to them,” she said.
Yes I do. A friend of mine told me in 2013 that he was gay. It was a big surprise. He had one girlfriend after another. He was noted for his popularity among women. So I was stunned. He moved to another city now. He is still the same fellow. Good craic and great company. He confided in me that he was petrified of his families reaction of he should tell them. So, I have great sympathy for him and all gay people. He is one of two people I know. It's interesting, both gay people that I know, hate, and I use the word hate, the gay agenda and things like "gay pride marches". That always struck me, how both of them have no time for that nonsense. However, even though I'd call them friends, since they " came out ", they have distanced themselves from me and other friends. I'm not sure why. Perhaps they feel awkward, I really don't know. As much as I care for them, I will still vote no on May 22. "Equality" does not mean "The Same".
As I previously said I have decided to pray and fast rather than get involved in fruitless arguments. The flame of Love is especially to blind Satan so I think it would be good to say the rosary including the Flame of Love invocation. This is spiritual warfare. If we get sucked into hateful arguments we are already wounded. I know this priest who has a troubled history. I guess Orders and Bishops struggle along with priests who are problematic because of the shortage of priests but I do think the authorities in the church and the Order concerned should issue a statement making the church position clear.
I mentioned this because the media seem to imply there our homosexuals pretty well falling out of the sky. But when I look at the world around me they seem as rare as hen's teeth. Unless they are hiding somewhere. But I admit I lead a pretty sheltered life.
I have to say I do know quite a number of gay people, either personally or by acquaintance, though I also lead quite a sheltered life (nowadays, at least). For the most part, they all lead fairly normal lives and most are in long-term relationships. I can understand how their friends and families, in their misguidedness, just want them to be able to live normal, happy lives... but I am not willing to pretend that it is even possible for two men or two women to be married to each other in the true sense of the word.
The CDC in the US put a report out last year stating that 2% of the population is gay. 2%! Tell me this isn't diabolical disorientation at work with all these changes that must be put into place for a vast minority that are obviously not part of what God created us to be: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...he-u-s-population-is-gay-lesbian-or-bisexual/
Friends no, acquaintances yes... 2% of population sounds high to me...depends how you classify them. Brother al
We recently had a bit of a debate during a lecture concerning the purported genetic basis (predisposition) for homosexuality, the whole 'born that way' position. I pointed out that even if it were scientifically possible to provide evidence of this (which is extremely unlikely) it would have no relevance whatsoever on whether or not homosexual acts were natural in the relevant sense of that word (i.e. acts in conformity with and leading to the perfection of our human nature). That there is a genetic basis for clubfoot, or other deformities/defects of our nature in no way implies that such things are natural in the relevant sense nor that such things be the object of celebration. It is quite obvious such things are unnatural (i.e failure to conform to the physical characteristics of human nature). Again, it would make absolutely no sense to say that "God made me that way" etc etc etc. That God allows such things for whatever reason in no way implies that He makes people to be born deaf, blind, autistic, drug addicts etc. I Provocatively asked if it some 'experts' were to conclude that there was a genetic basis for the desire to molest children would it make such behaviour natural and a fitting expression of human sexuality...stunned silence and a little chuckle from myself
My 1st cousin is gay and dresses in drag in gay pride parades he is a good hearted soul and loves animals, and needs our prayers.
Miriam, I have no doubt you are a well meaning soul. God Bless You! I will pray for him later, but in the interest of truth: there have been many indifferent, bad, evil people throughout history that loved animals.. sadly - more so than many a sweet soul and truth, and yes to the contrary, there have been many good-souls throughout history that loved animals and souls more so and, championed truth. One can not be half a saint; one most be a saint or no saint at all. I don't really need to add much more to this topic..but it has to be said with respect; I feel a bit emotional reading through some of the encouraging, thoughtful comments on this thread; where there is much light to fight darkness for the good of wondering, wandering souls. Some of you have the widows of your soul open wide on watch, and the Holy Spirit thugs on your hearts alarming you were needed. But for unenlightened. I wish you to think very-very carefully about what I am going to say to you next: It is good to love the soul and hate the sin, but woe to you that love it both and encourage as much -for- this is a sin against the Holy Spirit: that is truth. Jesus has said: if we are lukewarm; timed, indifferent; He will spit us out: you are either for good or bad: there is no compromise. 30 He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. 31 Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit -(TRUTH)- shall not be forgiven. 32 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost -(TRUTH)- it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come. 33 Either make the tree good and its fruit good: or make the tree evil, and its fruit evil. For by the fruit the tree is known. Matthew 12 Douay-Rheims God Bless!
Spirit of truth you have chosen your name well. We unfortunately live in a world that is brainwashed by the constant drip of media pc where the truth is not welcome. Our bishops are like Nero fiddling while our nation sleepwalks to its death. The church is filled with those who accept compromise. Lots of prayer is our only hope. Thank you for your clarity.
