From reading the above, it seems to me that this is your time in the dessert. Christ Himself spent time here, as did John the Baptist, many saints also, including Padre Pio. This is your time.

God is doing mighty works through you though you don't even realise it. (y)

However, one day, you will look back at this and realise that you are a fully fledged spiritual adult! God is certainly feeding you solids.. They don't always go down too well!

Both you, grimisocks and you too Hope will get through this.

If you are worried about being out of the workplace, think about doing some voluntary work within the Church, we are crying out for catechists. Look on the website of your diocese. Ask your priest if there are any Catholic organisations for those with special needs that you can get involved with. Maybe help them with art projects etc

Those who are non verbal (Autistic spectrum and similar) tend to express themselves through art, their faith also. :)

Not only will you be dedicating your time to God and causing all the prayer to turn into a physical action and prayer, but you will be gaining valuable experience and it is excellent to put on your CV, and when asked if you are working to say.. "Well, actually, I am doing voluntary work at the moment."

God be with You all (y) I know He is! :D

    PotatoSack and grimisocks like this.
  2. I was out of work for some time a while back and the main thing I missed when I did get back working again was the time I used to spend in prayer..

    Still praying for you Cathy.

I think I'll have another go pulling St Joe's robes.:)

You know all the millions of pictures of Joe on the net and I can never get one that I think looks like him.o_O

Just wanted to say I've just also prayed for you and everyone here that needs a job. I'm blessed to have a very good job to support myself, but I cannot make it to Mass everyday :( because of it. But I am very grateful for it and I know St Joseph will help you. In the Our Father, we ask for our daily bread, and sometimes it literally comes down to that! But God always does provide, and is leading you to depend totally on Him. It's good that you got yourself out of all circumstances of sin in your life, as I know that can impede prayer. Will continue to pray for you and just live this out one day at a time, and try not to think about tomorrow, as then it gets too overwhelming for you. HUGS!

thanks so much Padraig & Carmel!! I am actually going to a St. Joseph shrine for the afternoon...can't wait to have some quiet time and poke around the gift shop.

Yes, I am very much being stripped of everything so I will depend only on Him and really develop the trusting relationship necessary for what we are to face in the near future. It is beyond tough...but I will take it one day at a time and try my hardest not to worry or stress...

I am praying for you also, PotatoSack, and all the rest of you who are unemployed and searching for a job. Although everyone's situation is different in one way or another, I can understand a little of what you are going through.

My husband, Jeff, has been unemployed for over 3 years also and he gets tons of rejection letters all the time. He spends most of the day applying for jobs online, and going through employers assessments, etc. When he visits employers in person to as if they are hiring, they send him back home to apply online. It is frustrating and quite depressing, but he continues to try.

Sometimes, he simply hopes for an interview. He feels if he could just speak with someone, he would get the job. But he rarely gets called in for an interview. I agree with what someone else stated here, that he is discriminated against because he's been out of work for so long, plus he's over 45.

In the meantime, he is going to school full time to obtain a college degree (which he doesn't have), but he's concerned that when he graduates, he will still not get a job since there are so many others who are unemployed as well. He reads the bible a lot and prays a lot and he also goes to Eucharistic Adoration once a week, but I wish he would attend daily Mass. I think that would help him also, perhaps he will soon. He really is handling everything as well as can be expected, though.

But I feel overwhelmed at times because I pay for everything, mortgage, food, bills, gas, etc. We have 3 boys and I am 20 weeks pregnant and the doctor bills are high, health insurance is high, groceries are high, and it is really tough. I know God has a plan and will see us through this, but it is very hard. I am glad we have eachother, it would be extra difficult if he or I were going through this alone. I am grateful that we are all generally healthy and do not need a lot to make us happy. We are content going to the park, visiting friends, or staying at home playing board games.

We have to hang in there, all of us, no matter how difficult things get. God is with us and remember what St. Pio said, "Pray, hope, and don't worry."

    God bless,
    ~Rae

Hang in there! I've been unemployed many times during my life and career. God IS helping you and things are happening in the background although you might not see them right now. Have confidence and take note that this time you have had to reform your life and get closer with God in a deeper, more meaningful way is a great gift (even thought it might not seem it and you are frustrated).

    I will pray for you!!
