I sometimes wonder if it ties into the village's faithfulness to praying the Rosary over the centuries, but of course that doesn't necessarily tie into the location of "the Pines".
I think its tied to the faithfulness of the people, the devotion to the rosary (which Ive never heard of before for centuries), and the meaning of the Pines, marking the baptism of the children. Everything is spiritually based there.
CRUCIFIX RISES BY ITSELF FROM BEING DROPPED THE MUD ! With her eyes fixed straight above, Conchita stooped slightly and reached down about 50 centimeters (20 inches) from the ground. Then before the attentive and stupefied eyes of all of us who witnessed it, the crucifix came out of the mud by itself to the level of the girl's hand. She immediately grabbed it with both hands while remaining in ecstasy. Witness: Don Placido Ruiloba HAIR DRY IN THE RAIN ,Witnessed by Don Placido Ruiloba “As the ecstasy was prolonged and the pathways became more difficult to traverse, my arm got tired from holding the umbrella and I closed it even though the rain continued without letup. I accompanied the girl for twenty minutes and was soaked through and through; my feet were swimming in my shoes. At the end of twenty minutes, we passed before a house lit by a small electric light bulb which enabled me to see to my amazement that the shoulders and head of the girl were completely dry. To make sure I passed my wet hand three times through her hair and dried it as if I were using a towel. All this I affirm, and would swear to it with my hand on the holy Gospels. “ Both stories reprinted from “Garabandal Journal” Sept.-Oct. 2005
Boys throw stones at the visionary girls. A little after 9:00 in the evening, the second session of that unforgettable day begins. Once again the four girls assemble in the church and before the main altar fall into ecstasy. They breathe deeply. Then they laugh, except for Conchita; she speaks, “Yes, as you wish, as you command . . . We don't care what direction we go. As you say . . . But we haven't given any proof, and the people don't believe.” Toward 9:40 they get up and leave the church in an ecstatic march. They stop at those locations in the village where ecstasies had taken place, and they pray there. Here the footsteps of God and the Virgin traced their way to people regarded as nothing by the world. In contrast to this world in a rush to secularization, what a night at Garabandal! In a tremulous silence, under an infinite summer sky, all that could be heard were the prayer at the stations and the rhythmic footsteps of the four girls locking arms while in rapture. Toward the end of the march they were heard to say, "On what day will we see you again, so that the people may come? . . . The people say that this is a sickness of ours, and the young boys have thrown stones at us . . . Well, if you are happy with us, it doesn't matter." And when it seemed that everything was going to end, they undertook an ascent to the Pines that all the witnesses have classified as impressive not only on account of the appearance of the four girls, but also because of the speed and lightness of their march. “The Devil & Garabandal” -An interview with Fr. Robert Lewis. “Needles” Magazine, January - March 1978, page 12 Fr.Robert Lewis s an exorcist priest who works at St. Jude’s in Pakshikere,India Interesting quotes from Fr. Lewis : “For quite some time, the possessed persons at the Shrine have been making direct references to Garabandal, showing their anger because many souls are snatched from satan’s clutches, because the spreading of the message “. “The name of Mary is so powerful that Lucifer himself begs the exorcist never to mention it ,confessing with shrieks and shouts that is was she who crushed his head “. St. Michael: After the names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, there is none more terrible to demons that St. Michael ! “ We hate him” shouts Lucifer. “ Why did he dislodge me from my place in Heaven and thrust me down to hell ? He is everywhere to defeat my hosts”. Below: Joey Lomangino and Fr. Robert Lewis
MARTHE ROBIN (MARCH 13, 1902 - FEBRUARY 6, 1981) & Garabandal Marthe Robin was a French Roman Catholic mystic and stigmatist and foundress of the Foyers de charité association. Paralyzed since the age of twenty-seven, and also stigmatized, Marthe Robin would spend some fifty years of her life without sleep or food, nourishing herself uniquely with the Eucharistic Bread. Fr. Combe decided to ask Marthe, whom he knew well, for her advice. The famous woman mystic welcomed him in the first months of 1971, in her house of La Plaine . . . Here is the account of her meeting as reported by Fr. Combe himself: Marthe Robin: “ Keep working for Garabandal without fearing what you have to suffer. Tell the 4 girls that I pray for them everyday” From 'Garabandal' Book, J. Serre, pages 228-229 Pope Francis declared her “ Venerable “ on Nov. 8,2014. The recognition of a person as “venerable” is one step in the process leading to canonization.
"I have never doubted." Interview with Miguel Gonzalez (29) the youngest brother of Conchita Gonzalez. September 8,1972 “I have never doubted for one moment the apparitions of Garabandal.I knew my sister Conchita well enough to detect easily if she were pretending or telling the truth. The things that happened during the apparitions were incredible and all the events so impressed me that I can recall them as if they happened just yesterday. The first time I witnessed the apparitions it was the most profound night of my life. I felt very nervous not only because I had never experienced such an event, but because I did not completely understand some of the things that were happening. For instance, during the Ecstasy people were shining powerful lights into Conchita’s eyes or sticking her with pins on her arms and around her eyes. In no case did she blink or give any kind of reaction to the testing. The doctors even tried to lift Conchita but they were not able. One time I decided to test the girls myself. There was much talk about how fast the girls ran when they received their “calls” from our Lady. Well they can't leave me behind because they are only 12-year-old girls and I'm an 18 year old boy. One evening about 8:00 in July of 1961 Jacinta, Maria Cruz and Conchita were sitting in my mother's kitchen eating sandwiches. They had taken a few bites when suddenly they started to run to answer their call. I also started after them before I reached the “Quadro”, I could hear the “bang” the “thump” with which their knees hit the rocks in the “calleja”.It had been impossible to keep up with them even though I had run as fast as I could.” “ NEEDLES” magazine, FALL 1972 issue, pages 21-22 Special thank you to Tony Ambrosio who donated his entire collection of original "Needles" magazines from the 1970s for us to learn from. God bless him.
A very powerful testimony to the apparitions at Garabandal. Are these Needles magazines online anywhere?
I think Fr. Alar does a good job explaining and discussing the Garabandal apparitions. Forgive me if it is not consistent with this thread - I am sure Glenn can delete it.
The Blessed Mother speaks of Abortion at Garabandal "Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over." Among the fulfilled prophecies of Garabandal was one that only came to light with the publication of a German book [Garabandal — Der Zeigefinger Gottes.] on Garabandal in 1992. The author, Albrecht Weber, was in Garabandal on the day after Conchita's last apparition at Garabandal on November 13,1965, and had a long conversation with the visionary. The following excerpt from his book deals with some of what the visionary told him: She [Conchita] spoke quite openly about the developments by which men in the near future would rebel against God. On the day after Our Lady's last appearance at Garabandal, Conchita asked the author, "Can you imagine how somebody could kill children in the womb without thereby killing the mother?" The author spontaneously answered, "No! What gave you that idea, Conchita?" "Well, the Blessed Mother spoke about this and she let me know that this will happen with the overflowing of the chalice." [In her second Message of June 18,1965, the Virgin said, "Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over."] Conchita would learn soon enough when abortion became legalized, even in her native country. The Blessed Virgin had spoken about this unfortunate practice to the visionary, in terms that had left her stunned. Indeed, at the time, Conchita did not understand "how it was possible to kill a child in his (or hers) mother's womb without killing the mother at the same time . . .!" Excerpted from 'Garabandal' Book, by J. Serre. page 203
Actually so many mistakes were made ,or lack of facts, that I wrote him last night to ask him to call me to fill in all the blanks he missed. Dont get me wrongI like him, but he's far from an expert.
Mary confirms a piece of the “True Cross” “On March 17th, 1962, Mary Loli gave the Vision several articles to kiss, among others a reliquary belonging to the Marques de Santa Maria and his wife, who are fortunate enough to have been present during a great many of the visionaries' mystical phenomena. The reliquary contained what was thought to be a splinter of the True Cross, but there were doubts as to its authenticity. The Vision (Mary) confirmed that it had belonged to the True Cross.” “The apparitions of GARABANDAL” BY : F. SANCHEZ-VENTURA Y PASCUAL Chapter 7, page 94
I am struck by this testimony very much. It makes me think of our glorified Mother having an opportunity of kissing and remembering that which she had touched at the time of her Son's greatest suffering. In spite of the Triumph of her Son, does her Immaculate Heart twinge at the memory? I am very confident, for instance, that my saintly Mom (who embraced redemptive suffering) is home with the Lord, but I can clearly recall the pangs of sorrow I felt over her intense suffering some 55 years ago. In spite of the time lag, it remains very real to me.
CONCHITA ON LIVING AND SPREADING THE MESSAGE “Do all to complete and spread the message, not necessarily as the message of Garabandal but as the wish of the Blessed Mother. Prayer, Penance, and Sacrifice, visit the Blessed Sacrament, pray for Priests. Do not be concerned about the time. If you are not received as Garabandalists, bring the message as from the Blessed Mother, even without the word Garabandal. Think about the passion of Jesus. In these times, the best book you can have is the Bible. Read it every day. " “Needles” magazine, Spring Issue 1974 page 17
I am wondering if the Garabandal messages are or could be conditional? I.e., the prophecy of the warning, the miracle and the chastisement. If enough souls repent and convert, might it be possible that God might relent and deem that there is no need for a chastisement and hence no need for a warning and miracle?
Do you own a tv or computer ? Have you looked at the overall morale of the world ? When a world can question GOD as to whether there is more than 2 genders, OR THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO KILL GOD'S BABIES, WE'RE IN TROUBLE ! Thank God there will be a Warning, because as of right now WE'RE DOOMED WITHOUT IT.
The Warning and Miracle are not conditional, they WILL happen. The chastisement is entirely conditional.
