She is not wrong! When I was in RCIA, one of our deacons simply told me that "God's church is perfect, but many of the people within it are sinful and imperfect". That really struck home with me. I used to be very critical of not just the pope but my bishop. It was imparted on me to not go overboard being critical of them. I had to go to confession a lot. But at the end of the day, all I can control is myself and my own actions. I can't control the pope, or any other prelate, all I can do is pray for them, so that is what I do. That doesn't mean to turn a blind eye to sinful or evil behavior, but one can be brotherly in correction without falling into sin themselves.
