Contemporary stigmatics

This quote from the 'biography' on his website ought to suffice to demonstrate this:

Giorgio furthermore explains to his collaborators that gradually as the years pass he is becoming increasingly conscious of being guided by a Being of Light named Nibiru-Arat-Ra. The symbiosis with this superior Brother is such that often he feels unable to separate his own personality from that which penetrates him. For this reason many messages, even if written in the first person, will carry the signature of Nibiru.

What is alarming with Bongiovanni is that he is representative of a more general New Age / fringe Catholic syncretism that is more widespread internationally than one might at first think. I say this on the basis of my own experience in faith-science dialogue, as I regularly encounter individuals who have concocted their own neo-gnostic 'spirituality' on a smogasbord basis, which may for example include Reiki healing alongside Padre Pio, reincarnation with Medjugorje, mediumship/channelling/neo-shamanism/UFOlogy with Fatima etc. etc. All bound together by what might be termed 'quantum mysticism'.

There are of course some pure profiteers in all of this who are simply manipulating vulnerable people, but my sense is that the followers are often extremely sincere folks who in this postmodern, relativistic age have lost their capacity for logical reasoning and see no problem in believing completely contradictory things. The Church futhermore carries a considerable degree of responsibility for this development, as it is precisely the failure of so much nominally Christian theology to affirm in unambiguous fashion the reality of the authentically supernatural in Scripture and ongoing Tradition that has created the tragic vacuum in which the likes of Bongiovanni are able to operate.

This whole subject of the challenges facing Christian apologetics and the unwillingness to engage with the supernatural in a rigorous and theologically orthodox way is one which I hope to explore more fully in the next publication in the Fides Quaerens Intellectum project that started with 'No False Prophet: Pope Francis and his not-so-cultured despisers'.

Another compelling sign concerning Giulio Massa that strongly suggests that God is calling for our attention is the remarkable phenomenon known as 'hemography' in which images or writing spontaneously appear on cloths with the blood of the alleged stigmatic (whose 'day job', as it were, is selling vegetables, by the way...). There is a well-known precedent for this in the famous case of Natuzza Evolo (whose 'blood writing' is described in a very informative article by Glenn Dallaire over at http://www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2012/03/natuzza-evolo-stigmatic-blood-writings.html) Professor Richard Dawkins and all professional sceptics out there, just how do you explain something like the following?

Giulio Massa is not the only contemporary case of such 'blood writing': here is a photograph of Monsignor Andrea Gemma, exorcist and retired bishop of Isernia-Venafro, holding an image bearing the inscription in Latin 'Sicut Lilium sic opera mea' ('like a lily, so are my works') which appeared in the blood of the anonymous stigmatic associated with the recent 'Lily among the thorns' apparitions who is being followed by Don Gabriele Amorth. It should be noted that Msgr Gemma is hardly noted for this credulity, having for example been a vigorous opponent of Medjugorje (would be very interesting to be a fly on the wall if he and Fr Amorth - a great Medj. supporter - discuss that particular subject!).

I'll tell you one thing I have seen over and over again, maybe hunderds of times in my dreams, which intrigues me and gives me delight (though I don;t think it has anything to do with prophesy or the future). It is I walk towards this very ancient Church, very beautiful. I think it is Eastern Rite. Inside it is darkish and smokey, only lit by hndreds of candles. Not candles as in a modern Church but very long and thin, like tapers. The Church is filled with religious dressed in balck but in Eastern style. At the rear roof of the building is the most gorgoeus golden icon of Our Lady with the Child Jesus in their arms. It seems huge.

Sometimes in my dreams I pray and rise towards them, then the roof of the Church opens and I rise towards them Mary holding Jesus in her arms, both of them gazing directly at something far away.

It is the most beautiful dream but I have never had a clue what it meant. It is a while now since I had it.

You might find my old post to be interesting (about the false prophet Bongiovanni):

We are talking here about Father Zlatko Sudac. He has fallen off the radar recently and I'm not sure why. In 2015 he was
going to start his retreats again. He used to take pilgrims to Medjugorje quite
often. They were making a movie about him and some issues occurred in the making of the movie and I'm not sure what happened but the movie is gone and
now apparently so is he. At one time he
was very highly revered and everyone was calling him a living saint. Yes his hair did appear to get darker. Anyway it would be interesting to find out what he's up to. His website appears to be gone. As you said potatosack it's a little bit like the mystery around father Corapi except that he never lashed out against anything like Father Corapi did. I truly felt he became possessed and the church put him in a safe place so to speak.

The last I heard the Father is back again giving retrests. I would give my right arm to go on one. Of course I would not understand a word said. But that does not matter. I would give my right arm.:)

  12. Today is good Friday and after a lovely prayerful day and a somber, adoration of the Cross and beautiful prayers and communion, our Lord said to my heart, "You won't be able to do this this time next year. " It took me by surprise, but as I looked around and then remembered all the religious liberty issues here in the U.S. and Canada, I shrunk in my pew on my knees. God have Mercy! I'm not sure if he meant me personally, or all the people in the Church collectively. I feel that it is all of us collectively. After Church, my priest and I were the last ones praying and I told him what I had experienced. I was almost in tears. I told him, "Its coming fast!" He agreed. WE MUST LIVE AS IF IT IS OUR LAST DAY ON EARTH EVERYDAY! I heard a great quote the other day....
What if tomorrow God only gave you what you prayed for today?

THAT PUTS THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE EH??????!!1

Funny at work on Good Frdiay we all started talking about spiritual things. One young guy put a face on but my boos , who is a devout Protestant told him, 'This is Good Friday , our time of year. We don't talk about things like this the rest of the year and have to put up with it, you can put up with us talking about Faith for this one day when we put up with you shutting us down the rest of the year.

    ..and that was that.

It's quite amazing really the aversion and even downright hostily exists towards religion. A few months back a crucifix I always wear was outside my tee shirt and one of the supervisors, right out of the blue walked up to me and without saying a word reached out and tucked it under again where it could not bee seen.

On the other hand there are two heavy metallers who constantly wear tee shirts with images of the devil and upside down crosses emblazoned hugely and no one ever says a word.

But while on the one had I have no great urge to rush about preaching about things, I have the quiet confidence to speak about spriitual matters when the occasion arises. Still its funny how people react. I see time and time again people act like cats on a hot tin roof when such matters are broached.

    ....amazing, scarey.

I was also able to hold forth in a lovely conversation about the Holy Week with my son's girlfriend at supper on Good Friday, before being shut down by a conversation about the heinous House of Cards TV series. It was a gift to be able to talk about my faith!

Yes , Marie, I am afraid , 'House of Cards', is an abomination as it celebrates evil as a joke. I think I stood about one minute of it before reaching for the off switch.:)

They say we are what we eat, but even more so what we take in through the media. ..and it is hard not to take in pure poison. St Gabriel Possenti is a great example of care in this regard.

You know on my Face Book Page I have , I suppose, a few hundred Catholics from all over the world. The huge majority of the stuff is deeply spiritual or at least thoughtful. But yesterday I saw a post from my own cousin concerning the Resurrection. I posted one word in the comments section, 'Blasphemous' and left it like that. :D:D

I suppose I sound like the most horrendous old grump. I suppose there has to be a line in the sand somewhere though, otherwise we would end up with footprints on our Catholic Faces. :)

People don't take criticism easily at all these days, if they ever did. It saddens me that I had to wait for this from my own family. Her father, my uncle ,was a real saint though. A REAL saint. This kinda makes it worse.

St Gabriel of the Mother of Sorrows, Patron of Youth, pray for us:

There is no "ease-y" way for us to be Catholic today. We are in the midst of a tidal wave of political correctness and another tsunami of new age belief (of our rights to sovereignty and to be "gods," which is Anti-Christlike.) Just being an ordinary, faithful Catholic is the light shining... Our martyrdom is soft, but real nonetheless.

Today we had two Arab-speaking friends (one Syrian, the other from Egypt) over for Easter lunch, and I showed them image n.2 above in Arabic. Apparently it means 'Jesus is coming'...
