    I live in Maryland
I live in the DC diocese but The Baltimore diocese is close
We attend one of the churches often
I am aware of Fr Maskell from reading news and internet accounts
I agree with you that the current Netflix series is probably more inflammatory than we can imagine
Fr Maskell's body was exhumed recently and his DNA was not a match for the DNA on Sr Cathy
But I feel he knew she was dead and he probably did take that young girl to see the body
Which means to me, if the girl is telling the truth, that he was complicit, probably.
Fr Maskell was from Baltimore and his brother was a policeman if I am not mistaken
Also fr maskell was chaplain of the Baltimore Police Department
There was another priest involved at the school
    A Fr Magnus
    Both priests are dead
    There was a gynecologist involved
Anyone involved in this sick abuse horror could have committed the murder or hired someone to do it
    Fr Maskell fled to Ireland
His priestly faculties were removed I think
He returned to the US and passed away in a type of home for the sick
Then the truth began to come out as the girls involved grew up
    Much more to it
News accounts from the Baltimore papers don't seem too biased against the Church
Archbishop Lori is the current archbishop now
    I think
    He inherited this mess
I will get off my soap box now
I was just waiting until someone on the forum brought it up
I am not even proofing my post

Thank you, HeavenlyHosts. What a nightmare for everyone. My heart goes out to all those who have suffered in any way but especially for those who carried the weight of this pain for so long without any closure.

The vast majority of Traditional Latin Masses today are in full communion with Rome, and the numbers of these Masses continue to grow since Summorum Pontificum. The SSPX constitutes a tiny fraction of TLM chapels available today and it's easy to know from the Internet whether any given TLM is in full communion with Rome. I wouldn't give a lot of time and space to worrying about the SSPX, who will be fully reconciled and in full communion in our lifetimes regardless.

I won't watch another one. I was telling my husband about it today . . .it was so mechanical, like robots. No soul, feeling, only concerned about dignity. It was so devaluing life. It is a horror to me, no wonder she looked the part.

I watched this in dismay too. Ugh. So creepy. I have no desire to watch any more of these videos.

What struck me though were the comments of the soon-to-be-deceased, "nothing is greater than music" and "music is life". Seriously? She should have said "God" instead of "music"! It just boggles my mind that people's thinking can become so distorted....but then again, I guess that's why she feels that she can "go to sleep". (I noticed that the truth is so obscured that they didn't even feel comfortable using the word "die".)

    DJM,
I watched the 7 episodes, and I must say that I cannot recommend it to any Catholic who does not have a strong Catholic faith, because it was utterly shocking to me. During the whole series the only thing that I could think about other than the abused was the Garabandal Warnings.
    Our Lady's Message of June 18, 1965
Since my Message of October 18, 1961 has not been complied with and has not been made much known to the world, I will tell you that this is the last one. Before the chalice was filling now it is overflowing. MANY CARDINALS, MANY BISHOPS, AND MANY PRIESTS ARE ON THE PATH OF PERDITION AND THEY TAKE MANY SOULS WITH THEM. TO THE EUCHARIST, THERE IS GIVEN LESS AND LESS IMPORTANCE. We should avoid the Wrath of God on us by our good efforts. If you ask pardon with your sincere soul God will pardon you. It is I, Your Mother, who through the intercession of St. Michael, wish to say that you amend, that you are already in the last warnings and that I love you much and do not want your condemnation. Ask us sincerely and we will give to you. You should sacrifice more. Think of the Passion of Jesus.

After sexually abusing a boy while at a parish church (the boy's mother marched to the Archdiocese of Baltimore) and Father Joseph Maskell was sent to an all girls catholic school where he allegedly sexually assaulted over 35 girls. I read somewhere that a seminarian was also abused by him. Another sad part about the story, was that there was a Jesuit Priest who was in love with Sister Cathy and had asked her to marry him before he was ordained and before she had taken her final vows. After the killing he later became a Methodist Pastor and got married. We need to pray for all the abused victims involved and Sister Cathy.

It was not just the lady herself but the ones who killed her, smiling and encouraging . Yuk.

I was afraid to pray for her soul in case she was in a bad place. Thank God I was not shown where here soul is. I'd rather not know.

    Hell is so awful

You know hell and Purgatory really , really do exist. I know most people have not caught glimpses of them and their inhabitants I have and it is just as much real as anything you can see around you. I know most of us are called to walk by pure Faith and this is wonderful. But I have seen many things and I do assure the age old teaching of Holy Mother Church and the evidence of Scripture is quite true, as we should extent. If Cardinals or anyone else assures you anything different I do assure you they are wrong.

The demons also exist, Satan exists and they are quite dreadful. How sad to have to remind people of these truths. But if you need any other encouragement to believe read the lives of the saints, read the Fathers of the Church. These things are all
there described in full vivid detail.

The fact that we might not like to believe certain things, that they are not nice or are troubling is neither here nor there. These are the Truths of our Catholic Faith and I do assure you they are perfectly, perfectly true. Modern enlightened times or not, they are perfectly true.

You know many of these poor souls have no one to pray and make sacrifice for them but us. If we do not help they will be off to a truly terrible purgatory of the Eternal flames

The banners come from the group organising the World Meeting of Families. My guess is that parishes have been told to promote the event and the banners are part of the advertising campaign. It looks like the committee or advertising agency has decided that Pope Francis gets good press so his will be the face of the campaign. It is probably standard advertising strategy and given that they are hoping the Pope will attend the event, there's no harm in putting his face to the campaign. What bothers me is having advertising placards anywhere near the altar during Mass.

I think that the year of mercy posters were an attempt to address the situation where everybody at Mass receives Communion but hardly anyone goes to Confession. I don't know how they thought it would work. The impression I get is that the people they want to see at Confession believe that Pope Francis is saying whatever is good with them is good with God so there's no need because they're forgiven anyway.

I give an elderly man a lift home from Mass sometimes. He was surprised when I mentioned that I had been to Confession. His attitude was that since we're really harmless people who don't murder, steal or beat anyone up there's no need for Confession. A lot of people have that attitude. Placards and banners are about as useful as applying a plaster to a gangrenous wound.

I am amazed at the number of people that seem to view Confession as a punishment for bad people, as opposed to a great gift that God graciously makes available to his children. (And I'm sadly thinking of several family members as I write that)

That message from Our Lady at Garabandal was right in the exact time period and just slightly before the worst damage was being done by Fr Maskell and the rest of that ring of abusers
Thank you for bringing that up

Yes, nobody ever mentions the sanctifying grace received in the Sacrament of Confession. We need to avail of any means we can to increase God's grace in us, especially sanctifying grace.

Yes I would gladly go every Saturday as I did when I was a child. I need to go for the grace and strength I receive from God but priests these days seem to recoil from once a week. I go every two weeks--to make sure I can offer plenary indulgences.

This is a strong message from Garabandal. To think this horror was going on in 1961. It boggles the mind. I remember reading the biography of "Pere Lame" a very Holy French priest and he was shown seminaries in 1900 by the Blessed Mother that were corrupt--I assume in France--and told to intercede. At the time I read it I puzzled over it. Now how painfully clear it is.

Another of the "fruits" of this pontificate: http://www.ncregister.com/blog/edwa...t-speaks-in-church-catholics-ejected-silenced

I will never give another penny to any Catholic charity until this pontificate is over. I held my nose last Sunday at Mass to give to the special collection for East Africa despite my reservations about Trocaire. No more. Not another penny because for all we know every Catholic charity is working hand in glove with the death cultists. I have to accept that he is the legitimate Pope but I won't have any part in enabling ghoulish monsters like that dreadful woman.

No doubt the usual suspects will be along to call me a heretic while inventing scriptural reasons for Satan's handmaid being given a platform in the house of God. Was Jesus in the tabernacle as she spoke while faithful Catholics were being interrogated by the police for saying the Rosary outside the Church?

I have had that thought myself recently, Dolours. We just don't know what sinful programs we could be funding
As for that sad sad episode with Bonino in a church
I am horrified but we need to be aware of the reality of the dire situation

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

Dolours, it has been some years now since I have become very wary of all the big so called charities, so no criticism from Julia. I choose very carefully now, and even Christian Aid and Cafod are off the safe list as a result of what I was told about where the money really goes.

I heard Marino Restreppo state in a talk he gave that if 'you want to help the poor in some far off country, then get on an aeroplane and go to them and give the money to them directly.' Now that speaks volumes to me. Nough said.

As for the abusers going back so many years, what horrifies me is what has happened to the souls of the abusers who must have gone to their graves thinking they got away with it. We know Jesus said it would be better to tie a millstone round their neck and drown them, rather than they scandalise one of His little ones. I don't know what else describes the destruction of a childs innocence and purity than the scandal of sexual abuse.

And isn't it interesting that the Blessed Mother should have chosen Saint Jacinta from Fatima who was only 7 years old to tell us it would be sins of the flesh that would cause many souls to be lost. A child who most likely had no idea what sins of the flesh actually meant. It would seem they meant the 'urge of the flesh' for a start in the abuse of children.

Yes Dolours you are right. Not another penny to any of these but only to those who are truly doing God's work. Could we have imagined 10 years ago that a murderess could speak in church and protesting Fauthful would be ejected. This is a horrible inversion and we know who produces inversions. The cloven foot is dancing. Sick!!
