Thank you to everyone who prayed for my daughter and her husband. This morning they announced that they have cancelled their three month trip to USA and Europe. They were due to leave in 2 days time so it was an 11th hour cacellation ! I still cannot quite believe it. Its a miracle!
Corornavirus Pandemic Update: US Deaths Reach 37 and 23 Are From the Same Senior Center – Current US Mortality Rate Minus the Senior Center Is Similar to Flu Numbers ............ There have been 37 deaths blamed on the coronavirus in the US. There have been 1,636 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US. At least 23 of those deaths were at the Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington. The Life Care Center has gone from 120 residents down to 60 in the past month. The current mortality rate in the US is 2.2%. If you subtract the Life Center deaths the total goes down to .8%. The Guardian reported: What is the mortality rate of the new coronavirus? It is probably about or a bit less than 1%. Much higher figures have been flying about, but the chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, is one of those who believes it will prove to be 1% or lower. KIRO7 reported: At Life Care Center of Kirkland, the number of patients killed by coronavirus continues to grow. Of the 30 deaths in Washington, 23 are now linked to the nursing home, according to Public Health Seattle and King County, and Overlake Hospital… …According to Life Care, since February 19th, 26 patients from the nursing home have died. The care center says they usually have between 3-7 deaths. Not all of those patients were tested for coronavirus. https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/20...r-current-mortality-rate-similar-to-flu-at-8/
I found the following page the other day which may be helpful https://thewirecutter.com/blog/coronavirus-ha, "Coronavirus Has Caused a Hand Sanitizer Shortage. What Should You Do?". Ig2, That is so odd in regard to the UK, so very odd. In the US, I believe that our president is leaving it up to the governors to make decisions about limiting mass gatherings. The following is from Gov Andrew Cuomo of NY, "We are taking new actions to reduce the density of people across the state. Starting Friday at 5pm, gatherings with 500 people or more will not be permitted in NYS. Additionally, for facilities with an occupancy of 500 or fewer, we are reducing the legal capacity by 50%.". *** On a totally different topic, I meant to post the following the other day also. Wine flows from water faucets in Italian village https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/wine-flows-from-water-faucets-in-italian-village-27194 March 6, 2020
Well, I mean it is odd that the UK is not implementing any of the measures that other countries are. I thought that is what you were pointing out, or no? This is the post that you linked to in your post: *** I would greatly appreciate prayers for my son who informed me today that 3 people in his department have tested positive for COVID-19. I would also appreciate prayers for the three who have taken ill and the entire department. My son said that he will probably be quarantined for 2 weeks but he thinks he is somewhat ready for that. Thank you all in advance.
All on my beads Carol. I've heard various reasons for the UK's delay in implementing the same measures as other countries. The one that sticks in my mind, probably because I heard it most recently, is that closing schools would mean people working in essential services being unavilable for work because they would have to stay home to care for their children. Another reason was that if they go into lockdown mode now it means everything being at a standstill for a longer period of time because the crisis is not expected to peak for at least another few weeks.
Thank you HH! Thank you Dolours! Thank you for the info on the UK also. I had to go out at 7:15am this morning for a medical test and I noticed that there was still a lot of traffic heading towards NYC but my daughter who lives in Manhattan and commutes to Connecticut said that she is noticing that there are a lot less cars on the roads. We were thinking that it could be due in part to the various school closings and the parents who can no longer go to work because their children are home. Of course, a lot of businesses are also encouraging their employees to work from home now so that could be the reason also.
Yes re UK odd. BJ (Boris J) along with two medical and scientific advisors said the are using behavioural model - he was saying in today press conference that if u start off early and get tired at the end (analogy). He says peak period is 14 weeks away as he sees no hurry in implementing things like other countries doing now.
Ann, Thank you also! And everyone else here too. I am not keeping up with all of the posts on this very active thread but I am continuing to pray for all members and their families. I have seen that many of us are dealing with similar situations. It's a little scary to be honest.+
OH BOY, tonight it was announced there are 3 positives in my county. Each is hospitalized and each recently returned from out of country. That makes 12 in MICHIGAN. We all need to be on our knees! I have my Holy Water. Choir rehearsal was canceled tonight. We won't be singing Sunday. A concert we were to sing in end of this month will be rescheduled for perhaps Fall. But what's next....face masks? I shudder to think no Mass, or no Sunday Mass. Yes, this too shall pass. Shower & rosary!
THE POINT OF NO RETURN Mark Mallett https://www.markmallett.com/blog/2020/03/12/the-point-of-no-return/ A portion where Mark mentions a message to "Jennifer" whom Mark knows and follows: In several of Jennifer’s messages, Jesus warned that, soon, Church doors were going to be closed at a time of great division: My child, tell the world that I desire prayer for what lies ahead for the world beyond this point you are in now is the greatest purification since the beginning of creation. For My just hand will come forth and separate the weeds from the wheat. The doors of many of My Churches will be shut, the bells will be silenced for I say to you the true division in My Church has already begun. For many, the Eucharist will not be for them to receive, for many of My priests will be silenced. I come to warn in love, I come to tell you that you must find your peace by trusting in Me. —Jesus to Jennifer, May 26th, 2009
Praying for all on this site and their loved ones. My daughter was out with friends last night. Found out today one of them has been exposed everyday at work for the last week. Please pray. No need to respond.

From Mark's article above; https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/12/peop...se-self-isolate-face-murder-charges-12385790/ Coronavirus patients who refuse to self-isolate face murder charges in Italy author imageJames HockadayThursday 12 Mar 2020 9:16 am Anyone showing symptoms of coronavirus in Italy who refuses to self-isolate could face 21 years in prison. Authorities warn that those who come down with a cough, fever or other signs of the deadly Sars-like disease who avoid going into quarantine could risk being charged with attempted murder. The country is struggling to contain the spread of the bug and has confirmed more than 12,000 cases and 827 deaths. Italy has been put on a nationwide lockdown with all stores except for pharmacies and food outlets being ordered to close down. Citizens have also been told they are not allowed to travel unless for pressing health or work reasons. Anyone who comes down with a fever, cough, or other symptoms of the new coronavirus strain named Covid-19 who do not put themselves under self-isolation risk being charged with causing injury and be jailed for six months to three years. If a careless coronavirus sufferer went on to pass the bug to an elderly person or someone made vulnerable by a pre-existing health condition, then they could charged with ‘intentional murder’ and could spend up to 21 years behind bars, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. Those who carry on with their daily business after knowingly making contact with a coronavirus patient could also face the same penalty, as well as those who fail to warn people they may have infected. Symptoms are very similar to the flu or common cold, but advice has been given on how to spot the difference for those with concerns. Italy’s new legal measures have been compared to punishments for people who willingly pass on HIV to unsuspecting victims. If someone wilfully ignoring authorities makes someone fall ill for 40 days or more, they could face three to seven years in prison. Authorities say anyone who tries to bypass Italian restrictions by lying about urgent reasons they need to move around the country could be charged with false attestation to a public official and could be jailed for one to six years if found guilty. Those who break the rules and move without a good reason face three months in custody or a fine of up to 206 euros (£181). Across the world coronavirus has infected 126,000 people and has killed around 4,600.
