Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
Uh...that doesn’t speak well for Fr. Rodrigue. In fact if I was discerning his authenticity that would put an end to my discernment and an end to my following him.
Well, at least there's one cafeteria open for business in the midst of all these lockdowns. The Catholic Cafeteria. Under new management, the menu varies from time to time. Our Chef Specials are a big hit with the critics. The gospel of Emma Bonino was popular although a little bland. The gospel of Jeffrey Sachs is a firm favourite and will be repeated often. We are expecting this latest gospel of Elton John to make our brand a household name, with the Bishops running the franchise operation. Onwards and outwards for the Catholic Cafeteria. The Gospel of Jesus Christ? That's the menu of the old management. They left some recipes and management guidelines on the shelf. We won't stand in the way of some franchisees taking them out at Christmas or Easter to give the old patrons a blast of their cultural past but these new gospels are templates for the future with provision for additions to suit the changing spirit of the age. It's all good.
This civil union cannot be said to have the blessing of the Church. To propose homosexual civil unions, however, is to condone the gay lifestyle. This is shameful and the worldwide dissemination of Pope Francis' endorsement wounded Jesus in His Passion! Out of human respect and fear of criticism, when have I failed to stand up for the truth of the Gospel in the last month? Lord have Mercy! May some form of clear retraction take place within the next few days. Keep us humble Lord, keep me humble! Praying!
For those who are in a state of Grace the warning will be a blessing. Drawing us closer to the Lord. For those that are not in a state of Grace, it will be a frightening and terrible experience and for some...it may even cause death. How terrible it will be on that day for those poor souls who now call evil good and good evil...woe to you!! Repent!!! READ the signs..we are FAST approaching the Warning.
This is so depressing, read these comments.: https://forums.catholic.com/t/pope-francis-calls-for-civil-union-law-for-same-sex-couples/630702
Since Mark references Cardinal Ratzinger's meditation let's look at the whole meditation, which is far more hopeful than Mark's small snip highlighted in bold below... PRAYER Lord, your Church often seems like a boat about to sink, a boat taking in water on every side. In your field we see more weeds than wheat. The soiled garments and face of your Church throw us into confusion. Yet it is we ourselves who have soiled them! It is we who betray you time and time again, after all our lofty words and grand gestures. Have mercy on your Church; within her too, Adam continues to fall. When we fall, we drag you down to earth, and Satan laughs, for he hopes that you will not be able to rise from that fall; he hopes that being dragged down in the fall of your Church, you will remain prostrate and overpowered. But you will rise again. You stood up, you arose and you can also raise us up. Save and sanctify your Church. Save and sanctify us all. _________________ Ratzinger's meditation is hopeful, Mark's snip shortens it to seem the opposite. http://www.vatican.va/news_services/liturgy/2005/via_crucis/en/station_09.html
Such profound love for Jesus Christ in these words of Papa Emeritus Benedict to Our Lord when still a Cardinal of the Church! Thank you for posting his prayer in its entirety.+++
picadillo: If Mark Mallet is an opus dei hack , false obedience, he will find a way to spin this. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A source Mark Mallett mentions in his latest writing on this topic: In regard to endorsing civil unions for same-sex marriages, St. John Paul II signed off on the Considerations presented by then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on this issue: Civil laws are structuring principles of man’s life in society, for good or for ill. They “play a very important and sometimes decisive role in influencing patterns of thought and behaviour”. Lifestyles and the underlying presuppositions these express not only externally shape the life of society, but also tend to modify the younger generation’s perception and evaluation of forms of behaviour. Legal recognition of homosexual unions would obscure certain basic moral values and cause a devaluation of the institution of marriage… all Catholics are obliged to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions. —Considerations Regarding Proposals to Give Legal Recognition to Unions Between Homosexual Persons; n. 6, 10 Clearly, from these magisterial statements, Catholics cannot support any initiative that would endorse same-sex unions.
I don't really like thinking about Pope Francis too much. I put him to one side and tried to forget about him. But his recent statement forced me to think and pray a lot tonight for answers. My mind went back to something that happened to my family years ago. My sister-in-law Teresa (26) and her daughter Shona(2) were flying out from Dublin to visit New York and my brother Cormac (26) was driving them down to the airport when they had a very bad car crash on an icy road , hit a truck and were all killed instantly. I went to the morgue to identify them and when the Doctor pulled back the black rubber sheets I went into a state of shock as they were all badly beaten up. When I came back home my poor mother who had great Faith in me asked me why had GOD permitted this? Why did they die? So often life throws up questions so deep we have to be honest and say we just have no answers. We just have to trust that God knows the answers and leave it at that. My mother knew that and I knew that and we just got along with things. As to Pope Francis I just have no idea why he is permitted by the Good God to do and say the things he does. It is very, very upsetting and makes my stomach churn. But God has His reasons, it's His Church and I'll just have to leave it at that. The Good Lord set up the Church on the Rock of Peter, the Vicar of Christ. He placed Peter and those who stand in the shoes of the fisherman in charge. If God wants to change the present Fisherman He will just have to do that. I can't; I don't believe anyone can. It's the same as when I drew the black rubber sheets in the morgue or looked in my poor mothers face. I have no answers. All I have is my love and trust and prayers. It was enough then, it will have to be enough now. It will have to be enough for us all.
St. Teresa of Avila Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things Whoever has God lacks nothing; God alone suffices. Padre Pio: Pray, Hope and don't worry Our Blessed Mother: But in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph. Jesus (Matthew 6) 34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day.

Reuters reports that Cardinal Parolin gave the news to reporters who asked him about the renewal of the deal: “Yes, I can anticipate to you that all will go well ... I’ll leave you with a positive signal.” Whilst the official announcement is not due until tomorrow, Parolin stated that the actual decision had been reached “in the last few days.” “As far as the accord is concerned, we are content. There are still many other problems but we never expected the accord to resolve all the problems.” The deal allegedly recognizes the state-approved church and allows the Chinese Communist Party to appoint the bishops. The Pope apparently maintains a veto power although in practice it is the CCP who have control. It also allegedly allows for the removal of legitimate bishops to be replaced by CCP approved bishops. The actual precise terms of the deal, however, remain a closely guarded secret. Cardinal Zen, the emeritus bishop of Hong Kong, said that through the deal “the Vatican is selling out the Catholic Church in China.” Cardinal Parolin recently stated that the deal had been initially approved in a draft form by Pope Benedict XVI. However, Cardinal Zen swiftly responded and called the comments “a series of lies.” Catholic lawyers and professors released an open letter to the Pope at the time of the original deal, warning him that it would cause the faithful “confusion and pain, and schism would be created in the Church in China.” They urged the Pope to “Please rethink the current agreement, and stop making an irreversible and regrettable mistake.” U.S Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, warned recently that “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.” He linked to an articlehe penned on the subject, in which he stated that “it’s clear that the Sino-Vatican agreement has not shielded Catholics from the Party’s depredations.”
My guess is that the timing of this documentary film release date had an awful lot to do with the US Elections too. The Holy Father's words in the film sounded like Joe Biden in a White Soutane, minus the mask and basement. The exact same Manifesto. The Vatican Democratic Party.
Jeez people its just a TRAILER. Trailers will always be a bunch of edited clips to create hype and attract movie goers. In a secular point of view documentaries are usually boring esp if its just about the pope reiterating basic church teaching thats why the need to create controversy.
Every major news agency in the world is reporting this as given, that the Pope supports homosexual Civil Union. Their reputations are on the line and they fact check. The film Premiered in Rome yesterday so the News Agencies were viewing more than mere clips. This is being reported by not only secular but Catholic News Agencies, like EWTN. Their Rome Stringer will have viewed it. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Honestly Catholic Answers forum comments don't surprise me. I loved Catholic radio in Mother Angelica's day but hardly listen anymore. So many of the commentators are nuanced apologists for whatever Francis or other liberal bishops say or do. Catholic Answers' forum posters simply reflect back the stated positions of the hosts.
