Prayers for Don's wife! I love the string of feast days this week of Christmas. Besides this holy day, there is St. Stephen on the 26th and John the Apostle on the 27th. St. Stephen's is doubly precious to me because it is first, the middle name given me by my parents. So it's wonderful to bear the name of the first martyr/deacon of the Church and also my first name, Terrence, so given in honor of the Little Flower (my parents were hoping for a girl!). I believe in the Traditional calendar, the feast of the Holy Family is on Dec. 28th! Let's continue to celebrate the Birth of the Lord right up to the Epiphany or all the way to the Feast of the Presentation on Feb. 2 if you prefer!
This is true, December birthdays can be a challenge. Our younger daughter has a birthday very close to Christmas. No matter how many candles are on her cake I have always had to make sure that we have a special celebration so she never feels neglected. When she was younger she was always a little disappointed when she received a present wrapped in Christmas paper marked Merry Christmas/Happy Birthday, but now she just laughs about it.
I know this isn't going to be popular but it's important to see and hear the woman Trump is proclaiming his spiritual advisor. I was an evangelical for a time in my late teens and I attended a church with a pastor similar to this woman for a very short time at the invitation of a friend. It's no exaggeration the way they hit up the parishioners for their money using guilt tactics. I finally called it quits there when she instructed during a church service in a town with high unemployment and poverty that the people who did not contribute were not to take part in celebrating and singing the hymns. There is something deeply wrong with all this and I am not just talking about this so called pastor.

Having watched the video, I think I can see why the election went wrong, (joke). Paula White did a lot of claiming victory, but she forgot to mention who the victory was for. Silly woman. What a load of nonsense. Jesus did say those who are for Me are not against Me; so from that point of view, all we need to remember is stay away from people who claim giving them money is the way to prosper, and claiming prosperity is a sign of salvation is ridiculous when you remember Jesus was born in poverty, lived in poverty and died in poverty, and Rose from the dead Victoriously. Jesus did not need prosperity, He came to offer Redemption from the pit of hell for all who repent and believe, and He was the victim for all of us. All we need to do is Know, Love and Serve God, no money required.
Good Grief! If someone asked me to be the spiritual advisor of most any political figure, I would run the other way! Pronto! I like Muzhik's recommendation: Melania! Safe in the Wisdom of the Two Hearts!
I would be surprised if he takes spiritual advice from anyone. Politicians should be judged on their policies and their likely ability to implement them. Better than Biden is about the lowest bar possible but it's still better than Biden. I'll take a well intentioned non-believer over an evil Judas any day.
some sites here in Brazil reported that Trump considered applying martial law to overturn the election results https://jovempan.com.br/noticias/mu...ara-anular-eleicoes-diz-imprensa-dos-eua.html I would like to know if the news seems to be true.
If he has considered it he has not made it public. The speculation of the day is that Vice President Pence holds the key to re-election as the president of the senate, where he can reject the electoral votes of the swing states if he believes fraud is involved.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't think Pence will do it.....I wish, but I just don't see him doing it. I hope I am very wrong though....
If he did, he'd be showing more courage than anyone else in the current administration has shown so far.
This is quite extraordinary: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presiden...th-anniversary-martyrdom-saint-thomas-becket/
This article, written back in June explains precisely the situation we are in. It is well worth reading if you don't understand the electoral college, how it works and it's well known and completely ignored Achilles heel. The closest we have come to this situation was after the civil war when some places in the south rigged elections to stop black votes from counting and electors from both sides submitted their votes. In that case it didn't make a difference, in this case the election results hinge on these states. https://www.rollcall.com/2020/06/01/old-law-could-leave-2020-presidential-race-in-stalemate/
