Padraig, this is very disturbing! I believe God will force us to choose sides, the FAKE church versus the real one. Sadly, We will be in the minority. We are headed for Persecution and perhaps martyrdom. Pope Benedict prophesied that the church would become smaller, but more devout. We will likely be part of that smaller church. Saint Cathrine Emmeric also Prophesied about the two churches, one of God, one NOT of God, we are certainly in that time! God have Mercy!!!

Fairly early on in his Papacy, Francis said that he might be the cause of a schism in the Church. Now, if he does cause that schism by abandoning the (God granted) powers of his office and delegating them to national synods (which will often have different opinions on the truth and who have been granted no such powers), is he still Pope? If he is still Pope, what point would there be in him filling that office if he has delegated his power to define and defend the truth? It would make a majority of the synod members the arbiters of 'truth' (at least locally) like the Synods of the Anglican 'churches'.

If this happens and a choice arises (which it almost certainly would) by the institution (continuation?) of a body which was determined to hold to the truths handed down to us, what do you intend to do?

Your question kind of ties my brain in knots, haha. I *think* I know what you're asking. I plan to always stay under the authority of the Pope, while continuing to exercise my faith according to the tradition passed down to us like I always have. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what a potential schism would even look like or how it would change things locally. That is something I'd have to take as it comes, relying on God's grace and Wisdom to enlighten me on what to do. When in doubt, I would defer to my husband. Obedience seems to be the safest possible way to go in everything except sin.

If we had a good Pope who actually used his power to fight Apostasy and heresy and corruption and sexual perversion which is everywhere in the Church instead of closing his eyes to it, or, more probably being part of it, what would he do?

    How would he fight it?

Because we will soon enough get round to having a good Pope who will desire to fix things and where on Earth (or in heaven ) would he start? Pope Francis has placed so many of his own pervert and heretical Cardinals and Bishops in high positions. that it seems impossible that any Pope, no matter how holy and wise would even know where to start.

It would be like asking a good Pope to clean up a sewage works with a tooth brush.

I suspect the answer lies in Scripture , in the Old Testament with Moses. Moses faced the exact same problem with the Apostate Chosen people who chose to worship false Gods , just as the Vatican does today. Worshiping the False God of the present world.

..and how did God/ Moses respond.

    With fire and the sword.

..and this is how God will respond to this present Apostate generation. Our Lady has already told us this at Akita. 'Fire will Fall form heaven'

I reckon a very large percentage of our higher clergy and our so call, 'Faithful', are effectively already walking dead.

They're dead and ready to plunge into hell, they just haven't seen it coming yet.

A good part of fixing a problem is to see a problem.

After that, having seen the problem is to care enough and have courage enough to fix the problem.

But in order to have that courage and care you have to get more than a little bit angry about it all. We see that in Scripture, for example with the Maccabbees. Its hard to lead people by the nose to hell when they they mad.

I think we have to get more than a little bit mad at these awful, drek people. We have to stop being nice about it all.

Our preesnt Holy Father would beg to disagree. Apparently Church Doctrine is out the proverbial window.

If you've time do what I do, try to take time to listen to an antidote to all the Modernist poison going about.

Listen , as I recently did to this great encyclical by a great saint and Pope.

Thank you for this expose from Michael Davies. What a marvelous warrior Pius X was! When one is wavering under a cloud of uncertainty he is the saint to go to!

What's odd about Pope Francis is that back in the days of the Argentina Junta, indeed, there is quite a bit written on whether Pope Francis, Father Bergoglio largely looked away at the deeds of the ruling Junta.

Argentina 'Dirty War' accusations haunt Pope Francis - BBC News

So, in his biography, it's a bit of a case of going from one extreme to the other, I don't care to get too involved in such talk, that's 45 years ago now or so....but I do think it's worth knowing that such research is out there. I tend to think that under the circumstances, the Holy Pontiff does his best....generally, I certainly can disagree with him. The bookstore had a bunch of books on the cheap, I got one of Pope Francis' and I think it's good, "The name of God is mercy",

So, I need to pray for Him....like all Popes, perhaps all clergy and so on...

I learned long ago that there apparently have been a few "bad" Popes, so I will let it be... most if not all of these lived centuries ago but it did happen....

In the end, I'd say, I can find a lot more "common ground" than not with the Pope.

This in Argentina must have affected him...it's just the way things are, now, some degree of stability has come to Argentina.... there are just some tough times out there and I don't care to get too political.

Again, from all I have read about that period of time in Argentina, the Holy Father may have looked the other way conveniently. He was probably concerned about His own well being or just did not understand what was at stake, maybe he cowered from getting involved. Just my view.

All I know if he is a formal heretic, he can’t be a pope, because someone who is not a Catholic is not a member of the Church, let alone its head. A pope can be the worst sinner in the world, but he cannot be a schismatic, a heretic or an apostate. All this talk of how he’s just a bad pope misses the central point: all popes are given the grace of the Holy Spirit that protects them from formal sin against the faith. Otherwise what is the point of having a pope if he’s just like any other bishop? This is not to say popes can’t be scoundrels or make errors.

I am waiting for him to unequivocally show he’s a heretic. The closest he’s come to it is knowing what the Church teaches about civil unions and saying the contrary. Was this error on the level of heresy? An imperfect council had to be called. It wasn’t. Just like the silence I expect concerning whether Benedict’s resignation was canonical. Just like the silence around the unanswered dubia. He won’t outright say he doesn’t believe heresy, he’ll just leave us hanging and confused (because if he happens to be a heretic, he doesn’t want his posse to ever think he truly stood against what they wanted). He’ll say a few orthodox things here and there so we don’t question his alleged authority, without which he could not fundamentally transform the Church. If he were just a wayward bishop no one would listen to him.

Till then he’s just a doubtful pope. I can’t say he’s not the pope with certainty. The evidence suggests that he knows what he’s doing. Waiting for him to expose himself or remove my doubts. Because if I had to choose between Jesus or a man who everyone says is pope, I choose Jesus. Because I am truly convinced God will put the Church to the test to see who loves Him and who is just following orders. We can hope the time is not now, but scripture clearly tells us that there will be a rebellion (an apostasy) before the man of sin is revealed and we know that upon the the Church built on the pope the gates of hell will never prevail.

It just occurred to me today , Terry, on The Feast of Pentecost as I read the Liturgy, the the Fire of the Holy Spirit is also a cleansing Fire. That the Fire that is to Fall from Heaven to cleanse the Wicked might well be the Fire of the Holy Spirit?

    Malachi 4:1

"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them.

“The work of the devil will infiltrate even the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops." Our Lady of Akita

"we saw an Angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth" Our Lady of Fatima

"Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead." Our Lady of Akita

 The only way I can get through this is to become as childlike as possible, otherwise anger gets the best of me. Like the father who has his failed his children, they still cry out to him through their pain seeking his love and protection. A child in his innocence is willing to forgive. We are doing our best to navigate through this sorrowful and tumultuous papacy, and I do believe that 'fire will fall from heaven'. Our Heavenly Father has permitted Francis to be the Pope for our times, and we may not understand why until his papacy is behind us.

There is a charismatic song with the lyrics, "Our God is a consuming fire." This could have both the negative and the positive connotations. I do know in my heart that the stubble will be burned up, after the wheat is separated from the chaff.

Yes, but the above fire, isn't it one of judgment? Jesus sends another:

Luke 3:16 John answered them all, "I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. and...

Luke 12:49 I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!

In the Garabandal thread of yesterday, a hope was expressed that the scheduled threefold Synod which will be initiated this fall may be a forerunner of the Warning. Might we not consider the Warning to be a fire burning in and illuminating our hearts?

    Come Holy Spirit!
