Sin is adequately described in the Catholic Catechism. It is discussed in “examination of conscience” before Confession. We are Catholic.
Mary, 'Destroyer of all Heresies', pray for us. https://www.thecatholicthing.org/2016/08/14/mary-destroyer-of-all-heresies/ I saw an amusing ancient picture the other week. It showed Our Lady with a stick as big as a base ball bat and with it she was swinging away at heretics. https://www.churchpop.com/2018/08/3...o-invoke-to-save-the-church-from-this-crisis/
I have intuitively known this for a long time but had trouble putting into succinct reasons. You make it so clear. She is our Ark in these new floods of heresy and intellectual pride. She is --according to Fr Gobbi who says she told him--an enclosed garden and in her Immaculate Heart we are safe.
Yes! And modernists scorn it as being simplistic and repetitious and just for superstitious old ladies. Well...."hand me down my weapon"
Did you not notice I underlined harmful and alienating? Do you think the Pope's Moto Proprio is not harmful or alienating to Catholics who love the latin Mass? Is the Pope helping or harming the unity of Catholics? It's already happening tradition loving Catholics are being denied the Mass. DC Pontifical Mass: CANCELED A pontifical high Mass had been planned for 14 August in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. It was actually supposed to be offered a year ago, but was postponed due to COVID restrictions. The music was all set. The clergy were all lined up. EWTN was going to air it live. Following Pope Francis' motu proprio attacking the traditional Latin Mass and placing massive restrictions on Catholics who worship using the old books, Cardinal Wilton Gregory, archbishop of Washington, demanded the celebrant of the planned 14 August Mass -- Archbishop Thomas Gullickson -- submit a formal request for permission. Mind you, all permissions had already been attained prior to the motu proprio. The organizers and funders of the Mass, the Paulus Institute for the Propagation of Sacred Liturgy, had been working with shrine and chancery staff, even in the past few days, on liturgical and logistical details, including rehearsal times. Today, Archbishop Gullickson received a reply from Cardinal Gregory. Permission: denied. has been canceled 18 days before it was to be offered. I posted about this a few days ago. It’s in my diocese. Yes, I noticed. Yes, I’m sad. Enough said. (It was posted on page 38 of this thread.)
Considering that they are dealing with fairly open sexual perverts in control at and over this place there are no surprises here. The only thing that really surprises me is that permission might have been tacitly given in the first place. Lavender Mafia stronghold.
The Basilica at Washington is a total cesspit. I am surprised it has not been struck by lightening and demolished. Traditionalists are well away from it. Take it as a huge compliment that you're not allowed in. May God forgive them. There is a hell.. and unless they repent, they're, all of them on a one way trip to discover this for themselves. Poor, people. The Good times and big bank accounts and swinging pervert lifestyles will soon be coming to a sudden abrubt end.
You are right, Padraig. Yes. The interesting thing is that Archbishop Cordileone from San Francisco received permission to celebrate a Solemn High Pontifical Mass in October of 2019, and he did so, with great attendance, at the National Shrine. The priest who is in charge of the liturgy there is Father Weston. Apparently he gave permission in 2019. He has also given permission for a TLM for Catholic U. students offered by Fr. Kevin Cusick of the DC Diocese. So? Perhaps Fr. Weston may have been overruled. Fr. Weston is behind Fr. Rossi on the right at the very beginning of your video. He often acts as Master of Ceremonies at the Shrine. I am just guessing, not sure if prior permission had been granted and was overruled.
https://www.nationalshrine.org/blog/team/reverend-michael-d-weston/ Reverend Michael D. Weston Director of Liturgy Father Michael D. Weston is Associate Rector and Director of Liturgy of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. A priest of the Diocese of Arlington, Father Weston was ordained a priest in 2002 and has served as Director of Liturgy of the Basilica since 2007. In this capacity, Father Weston is responsible for the planning and execution of the liturgies of the Basilica which he does with great precision oftentimes serving as Master of Ceremonies. He was instrumental in planning Solemn Vespers for the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the Basilica in 2008 and the Mass of Canonization of Saint Junípero Serra celebrated by Pope Francis on the East Portico of the Basilica in 2015.
Interesting fact, Padraig. Our Lady of America, a devotion promoted by the late Sister Mildred of Ohio, asked that a statue of Herself be processed through the National Shrine and supported by the Bishops of America. That never happened. I heard, but cannot verify, the Msgr Rossi did not grant permission because he said there were already enough statues of Our Lady there. Recently, a group of followers of Our Lady of America brought the statue to DC and drove it around to key places in the city. I think they also stood outside of the Shrine. See what happens when we don’t fulfill Our Lady’s request? Member Richard67 is a follower of OL of America. He posts about it occasionally.
Sometimes I just feel like.. ..get myself a gun.. I preferred Tony Soprano to Monsignor Rossi. Like him orf loath him Tony Soprano was a pretty straight up guy. Monsignor Rossi is anything but straight. I very much prefer the real Mafia to the Church Lavender, total yuk. Better kind of people, the Mafia only kill bodies. The Church Mafia specialise in killing souls.
Thank you, Luiflower. Since 1970, I have been to the TLM fewer than 10 times. At none of them, did I experience anything disturbing! Each one was precious. But my bread and butter has been the Novus Ordo, and at that I've been thousands of times. And yes, I have seen abuses a number of times and carelessness many times. I would not now attend a parish where such disturbing trends were allowed. Pope Francis' decision (unwise in my opinion) has brought things to a head, I believe. Perhaps this conflagration is a foreshadowing of the Abomination of Desolation of which St. Alphonsus Liguori spoke. Lord Jesus, touch the heart of Pope Francis to reverse the rift his absolute decision is provoking.
1913 Pope Pius X (Saint Pius X) approves the plan for the building of a national shrine in honor of the Patroness of the United States Not only did Pope Pius X wholeheartedly approve Monsignor Shahan’s suggestion but the pope also enthusiastically made a personal donation officially helping to launch the ambitious project. This is from the Shrine website.
