The Hiroshima attack killed around 80,000 people instantly and may have caused about 130,000 deaths, mostly civilians. The attack on the port city of Nagasaki killed about 40,000 instantly and destroyed a third of the city. Four Jesuits were nearby the hypocenter of the attack on Hiroshima, but they survived the catastrophe, and the radiation that killed thousands in the months following had no effect on them. The Jesuits priests Hugo Lassalle, Hubert Schiffer, Wilhelm Kleinsorge, and Hubert Cieslik were at the rectory of the church of Our Lady of the Assumption, one of the few buildings that resisted the bomb blast. Father Cieslik wrote in his diary that they only sustained minor injuries from the broken windows – but nothing resulting from the atomic energy that was unleashed. The doctors who took care of them afterwards warned them that the radiation they received would produce serious lesions, as well as illness and premature death. The diagnosis never materialized. No disorders ever developed, and in 1976 Father Schiffer attended the Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia and told his story. He confirmed that the other Jesuits were still alive and without any ailments. They were examined by dozens of doctors some 200 times over the course of the following years, without any trace of the radiation being found in their bodies. I think it's because recent surveys have shown (and of course, I can't find the original article, but I believe it said) 90% of those who favor "abortion rights" oppose the recent laws permitting infanticide. And I think we need to keep using the word "infanticide" and use it consistently in all conversations and debates. That is the only way, that is the only HOPE we have for controlling the conversation. If our lawmakers are in favor of infanticide they need to stand up for it and accept they may be voted out of office. Call them out, and use that word, and insist that you will not accept Big Brother Goodspeak in describing the baby as "a post-abortive failure" or somesuch.
Very, very sadly, it seems that Massachusetts has full-blown infanticide in their laws. Infanticide Becomes Law – MFI | Massachusetts Family Institute (mafamily.org) (again, no endorsement to the webpage, used as a reference) I think so far, they are the only state that really has it to the letter of the law, though, I have heard it is in New York State, I'm unsure if it is as pronounced. Maybe "effectively infanticide." However it goes, a real evil.

Not sure what happens next, but this development cannot be good for Cuomo. If he were not a Dem, this would be a knock out, but he’s a very powerful person. I don’t know much about LT Gov who would take over if he resigns. My husband had the tv on this a.m. where Cuomo is denying all the allegations of his sexual misconduct and telling everyone what a good person he is. "I did not have sex with that woman", the new democratic motto. ugh. I had to leave the room.

thankfully my son moved out of NYC 2 years ago to Denver....not a great improvement but less risky I think.
Thank goodness he got out, my son refuses to leave. Just yesterday he told me that crime is off the charts. Criminal activity that was once hidden in the shadows is now happening out in the open. Now that the rent moratorium is over, the situation will most likely continue to deteriorate when thousands are evicted from apartments. He is hopeful that things will get better, but I am not. NYC may be in for the worst chastisement that the city has ever seen, God help them.
Things are not much better in DC. Yesterday morning a Pentagon policeman was stabbed to death in the neck while on duty at the Pentagon bus stop. But NYC is worse on a different level. Multi-level crime. Filth and corruption not seen elsewhere.
