God forbid , but it if comes to the point and there is a Schism I will certainly ask anyone who enters into Schism to leave the forum.

Julia-- Marino Restrepo has a new talk on you tube from Maria Vision/Living the faith. He talks about the importance of staying with the Pope. He emphasized the need to stay very little and to pray and offer sacrifices. Everything must be done with charity. Not rancor or bitterness.. He said forcefully that division is diabolic. Worth a listen. To me he has a lot of "street cred."

Just hearing the Credo sung in Latin brings me to tears. What we have lost! "By the waters of Babylon we sat and wept and thought of Zion"
In a way these last years have been a Babylonian captivity.

Pope Francis calls Latin Mass Leaders to Rome: FSSP and ICKSP will by loyalty tested

It seems Pope Francis wants to provoke schism with traditionalists.

I think of the line from Shakespeare: O the evil that men do! The evil that men daily do! The evil that men do not knowing what they do...."

Today I feel quite crushed in spirit.

The important thing to remember - Pope Francis is elderly and will soon be gone.

Let us all bite our tongues if necessary and 'obey' until the hour of his death (or resignation).

For some it will be a very, very painful act of surrender and obedience.

He is not going to go without a bang, unfortunately.

There is word from Rome that he will write legislation this fall outlawing the title and position of “pope emeritus” and will resign the papacy and we’ll have a conclave before the end of the year. This comes from a very credible source. Take it for what you will.

    This would not surprise me.

He is on record as saying that his pontificate will be a short one.

That’s exactly how this thread started. And it was 100% dead on correct. We’ll see how these latest “rumors” pan out.

But that “thinking” makes my point no less true.

Short? Feels like a lifetime even if he had retired yesterday.

I think it was Taylor Marshall who speculated early on that the plan could be to channel all traditionalists into a single group like the SSPX. It looks like that's the purpose of this clamp down on the TLM. Pope Francis is quite chummy with the SSPX. Anyone who was out of tune with Pope John Paul 11 finds favour with Pope Francis. If he brings back the SSPX, leaving them with whatever number of Bishops they have now and striking a deal with them to keep it at that number, and gives them exclusive permission to say the TLM in the form they celebrate it now, the SSPX will have what they want.

Then, if he does a cut and paste job on the TLM for the rest of the Roman Rite Church, anyone wanting the proper TLM will be faced with accepting the changes or somehow getting into the SSPX. The result of that will be what Taylor Marshall called corralling traditionalists. They will only ever have a tiny number of Bishops while the rest of the Church will have inter-Communion with Lutherans and whatever else it takes to make us more Lutheran than Catholic. Married priests in the short term, leaving his successor to ordain women priests.

The priest who has been appointed to some kind of liaison role for the Church in China says they need about 40 new Bishops. He also said that the one child policy has led to few vocations in China due to the one child's duty to care for his parents and, presumably, continue the family line by having a child/children of his own. I will be very surprised if married priests and possibly Bishops aren't imminent at least in China if not elsewhere. The married priests will be the solution to the shortage. Marred Bishops to provide cover for what's happening on the ground in China. There are reports that at least one of the CCP's Bishops is in a common law union with a woman with whom he has fathered a child.

I shudder even to think of what went on in the Vatican when John Paul II was so ill. Benedict XVI was there and knew and asked us to pray that he would not flee from the wolves.

The important thing to remember - Pope Francis is elderly and will soon be gone.

Think of the Church Francis has set up with his appointment of Cardinals and bishops and with all he is doing and will probably do. A new conclave? No, He is not going to go without a bang, unfortunately. Lord have mercy on us!

There are 4 points you made in your post as noted above to which I wish to respond:

    (1) How crushed you must have felt due to your brother's response!:( My youngest child, Danny, who like so many of his generation, lives in his iphone, thinks Geralyn and I are too into a "last days" mentality and raises his eyebrows a lot; and he attends Holy Mass and goes to confession regularly! So those who spend their time in the MSM (your brother) will so often follow suit. I place your little brother on my regular prayer list.:notworthy:

    (2) Many Catholics question Francis' authority. The FSSP is a break-off from St.Pius X Society precisely because of their desire to remain united to Rome! I think only those who believe Francis isn't legitimate would come down so hard on the FSSP. As you say, it is the threat of the TLM being trashed which stirs up all this antagonism. Even so, Francis is our Pope.

    (3) I loved your analogy of Abraham! Perfect!

    (4) I and my family are fundamentally Novus Ordo nurtured. All my children are faithful Catholics! At one point, Geralyn and I left a parish because what was preached at the parish was missing the mark. But otherwise, it is possible to nurture your children in a non-TLM atmosphere. Perhaps if one had been available in our family's early years, we would have switched. However, in the raising of children, the family that prays together and protects their young children from the hostility of the world (we home-schooled), can triumph through grace and the covering of Our Lady's Mantle!

As Pope John Paul II would say, "Be not afraid!" We are in rough waters but the Barque of Peter will not capsize!

    Pax Christi!
