    That's lovely.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."

    John 14:27

I have wondered in the past are times of peace almost like a prayer or are they like a gift.

The group Maryland Right to Life has completed their work during this legislative session. The best thing to come out of it all was that a state Constitutional right to abortion on demand was defeated. This means that if Roe v. Wade is defeated, there is a chance that Maryland could remove the right to abortion, since states would have the right to decide then.
This is a really strong group and we have had many successes this legislative season.

HB626/SB669 Pregnant Person's Freedom Act of 2022, which would have legalized infanticide, was defeated.

Physician Assisted Suicide was sponsored by Senator Waldstreicher and was drafted, but MDRTL successfully discouraged its introduction due in part to the large number of pre-emptive opposition emails sent (5,515). MDRTL has defeated PAS 6 times in 8 sessions.

HB0070/SB0315 Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP), which would suppress pro-life speech, was defeated 3 times in 4 sessions.

Most importantly, HB1171 Right to Reproductive Liberty, which could have created a state constitutional right to abortion on demand, was defeated. It is a testament to the tenacity of the pro-life community that we have been able to defend our state Constitution from radical attacks against the right to life in 3 of the past 4 legislative sessions.

HB937/SB890 Abortion Care Access Act. Governor Hogan vetoed this bill following a blitz of email requests to do so (1,670 in 24 hours). Unfortunately, the veto was overridden and the bill enacted. Abortion Care Access commits public funding of $3.5 million per year to train non-physician abortionists. The number of people who can provide abortion will increase the number of preborn children being killed and will put more women at risk of substandard medical care, injury and death. Elections matter and we must hold pro-abortion legislators accountable in November.

This is a good news/ bad news bit of news isn't it? Imagine a non medical person being licensed to do abortions. How is this different from the back alley of olden days?

It's not. I had just sent an email to Governor Hogan and received a generic reply. He vetoed that bill, and we were told to keep contacting our legislators and pray . The dirty legislators held an emergency session on Saturday and over-rode Hogan's veto.:cry:

…in just tuning in to EWTNNews, just now, I see aborted baby parts were discovered in DC. Meanwhile, in China they routinely torture people. I pray, pray, pray God comes soon to straighten this nightmare out

The aborted fetuses were discovered in DC because a pro life group rescued them from a truck driver who was taking them to a medical waste incinerator near Baltimore. It is alleged that the medical waste was used to provide electricity. There’s an investigation ongoing. The pro life group had a Mass said and buried some of the babies. There were still the late term babies who had not been buried yet. It is truly a nightmare.

I would LOVE to see what kind of liability insurance they'll have to carry -- both what it covers and what it DOESN'T cover.

Unless the law holds these newbies blameless of any "incidents" that occur while performing abortions. If so then the medical organizations had d*mn well better sue the pants off the state, seeing as how they have to carry insurance to cover millions of dollars in liability. Since the lion's share of medical liability claims cover pregnancy and childbirth incidents, this will not be insignificant.

Frightening! Poor Canada….poor USA if our nation eventually allows our government this power. Big tech is already doing this with the advisement of the current government even if it’s not legislated as yet.

I just finished sending a note to the Church Militant tip-line asking about this. I pointed out that obstetricians pay the most for malpractice insurance, because pregnancy and childbirth have a host of adverse outcomes; to the point where a woman carrying twins or triplets has a HUGE problem finding a doctor, as the doctor's malpractice insurance won't cover his care of these type of high-risk pregnancies. I asked if anyone has asked the insurance companies that underwrite medical malpractice insurance coverage if they will even consider providing insurance for these non-doctor abortionists, given the high possibility of adverse outcomes (blood loss, infection, sterility, maternal death) that occur with trained physicians, much less amateurs.

Church Militant seems pushy enough to follow through on these questions.
