You know as far as proving God Exists. When I am out walking and look at things around me, the stars in the sky , the Moon, the soon at sunrise and sunset. The sea, the mountains, a baby smiling...my heart often leaps and turns to God... I suppose this is not empirical but I think it is better than that. You cannot put some things in a test tube. They are too great for that.
I think Dogma is what has been revealed by God in revelation. Doctrine is what has been proposed by the Church as a matter of faith.

What I meant by empirical is that simple, everyday experience shows that man is not inherently good. Not totally depraved like Luther would have, but that humans have a tendency to sin. If you’re going to say that man is inherently good you’ve got to say that it is good to be selfish.

I think we could pray for the spiritual protection of Saint Joseph over him whose father shared the saint's name (Mario José); in addition to his inauguration mass of the pontificate being on March 19, finally we had as one of the most jubilant acts of the pontificate the proclamation of the year of Saint Joseph on December 8, 2020.
