Without the death penalty, Christ would not have atoned for sin. Until the present pope, Catholicism had always regarded the death penalty as an unfortunate, but necessary, mode of justice. There seems to be a category error in considering equivalent the murder of an innocent for the purpose of convenience and the execution, following an investigation and a fair trial, of a ruthless first-degree murderer.
I completely agree. Only for the worst unrepentant killers....ted bundy for example who knew he would keep doing the evil things. Repentance is actually sought more often when there is a date for execution. There is no comparison to an inoccent child. None.
^^^ Perhaps he is a modern day St. Nonnatus, God bless this priest. Priests used to sell themselves into slavery to the mohammedans in exchange for the release of others. Pure selflessness. The more things change, it seems the more they stay the same.
We have convicted murderers on death row for years, on appeal. If execution of criminals is of the same order as abortion, why are there not facilities for someone to appeal the life of an unborn? Of course, there are not because this comparison is a demonic, false one concocted by the pro-abortionists and swallowed by the gullible. Then, they have the nerve to accuse pro-life people who do not agree with this equivalence of being hypocritical and lacking compassion. However, as the little anecdote above demonstrates, it is effective in causing division. But, it is the priest who lacks a proper sense of proportion who is the agent of division in this case, not the outraged lady, who was well-entitled to 'huff and puff' at someone who asked her to accept the likes of Ted Bundy being as much a victim as an unborn baby. The slaughter of the innocents in the Gospels is a description of a horror. The two thieves on either side of Our Lord are not depicted as equivalent victims-on the contrary, they are described by the good one as deserving to be there. While we ought to avoid occasions of division as much as possible, this should not be a recipe for silence when very Heaven calls out for condemnation.
Before i moved i went to a Latin Mass for the first time. The Priest was incredible speaking on abortion. He told you straight out what will happen to your soul. Also confessions were before every Mass and during my confession he had said that it was a mistake to close the Church during the pandemic and that He will never do that again. It did damage by taking the Mass away from the people he said. He was the most true Priest i ever met.
I’ve had to go to a Ukrainian Catholic Church to have access to confession on Sundays. In a wooden confessional! The Divine Liturgy is ad orientem, replete with pleadings for mercy, and frequent references to the Holy Mother of God. A field hospital for souls. I can participate in most events, but am still Roman Catholic. I tried the Latin mass but it was hit or miss whether the priest would have time to hear all confessions before mass in the half hour offered. I’m not holy enough for that yet.
Thats beautiful. Yes the line for confession was long at my Church . Now that i have moved,, most churches near me offer confession after Mass at 730 am. It is disheartening to see just 15 mins allowed for confession and no saturday or Sunday offered. 15 minutes. So sad
NASA recently launched a successful test shot at a passing Asteroid . It suddenly occurred to me the other day to winder if they did this as a trial for preparation for something else they knew was coming It would be just like Governments not to say I must check when I get home . This would tie into Prophesy.
Ford Heir Objects to Catholic Pro-Life Signs CV NEWS FEED // Edsel B. Ford II, heir and great-grandson of American automobile icon Henry Ford, wrote to his local city officials to complain about a Catholic church’s pro-life signs. In what appears to be a repeated request, Ford stated, “Once again, I am writing to you with dismay concerning St. Paul Catholic Church’s use of their front lawn on Lake Shore Road to place signs and crosses advocating their political/moral/ethical position against abortion.” St. Paul On the Lake Catholic Church is the Roman Catholic parish serving Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, a northeastern city of Metro Detroit. The parish recently erected a large sign next to the church reading “64,000,000 LOST U.S. LIVES.” The church’s signage also offered aid to women in crisis: “Pregnant? Need Help?” it read, followed by contact information for a pregnancy aid hotline. White crosses surround the sign. Another sign urges Michigan residents to vote “No” on Proposal 3, a November ballot initiative that would codify unlimited and unregulated abortion access into the state’s constitution. Ford argued that “protecting the aesthetic value of our community obligates the City of Grosse Pointe Farms to require St. Paul Catholic Church to remove this improper blight immediately.” “As one drives down Lake Shore Road, the view and expanse of yards in Grosse Pointe Farms has been a beautiful asset of our City which our community has taken great effort to protect,” he wrote. “Signs and crosses such as those erected by St Paul Catholic Church diminish the character of our neighborhood and quality of life for residents and visitors.” “Again,” the letter continues, “while I respect and defend the right of St. Paul Catholic Church to hold its position on the issues involved, I firmly believe protecting the aesthetic value of our community obligates the City of Grosse Pointe Farms to require St. Paul Catholic Church to remove [the signs].” Ford also sent the letter to St. Paul On the Lake pastor, Rev. James Bilot. The parish responded with a public statement on October 3 that read in part: Our parish has carefully followed pertinent laws and city ordinances when assembling lawn displays, including this year’s collection of crosses, a message offering assistance to pregnant mothers, and a sign sharing our position on Proposal 3. City Manager Shane Reeside also responded, telling the Detroit Free Press that “our public service director will go out and review the signs that were placed out by the church to make sure they conform with the city sign ordinance.” Michigan is home to 1.8 million Catholics out of a population of nearly 10.2 million. The Archdiocese of Detroit has been leading efforts to defeat Prop 3. Ford Heir Objects to Catholic Pro-Life Signs - CatholicVote org
Excuse me while I adjust my tin hat... Last December Netflix produced a star-studded (pun intended) movie called Don’t Look Up, which deals with this scenario. Nothing gets made in Hollywood unless it furthers an agenda or is predictive programming. I think you’re onto something there, Padraig. I also think that this rush to one world government could be a response to such a threat. There’s a lot of obviously ridiculous distraction going on. Depopulation and control could be seen as “necessary” in view of those who know, to keep 7 billion from potentially erupting into chaos. And remember the October miracle at Fatima! It seems Our Lady may have given us a clear sign at Fatima, for our time!
I always call it the warning at Fatima. And those sun "miracles" continue at Marian shrines throughout the world.
