They are telling us that it was not a balloon, but an object the size of a car that was "cylindrical and silver-ish grey". It sounds like the typical UFO sightings describing cigar shaped silver objects. No photos.
With modern satellites there is no need for balloons to gather intel. There is something else going on, more than the obvious distraction the Biden admin needs right now.

On January 26th I saw a "UFO" fly by my house at about the altitude of a jet landing at my airport nearby. I took a couple of pictures. Now wondering if one of these things! It is the white spot and the second I tried to zoom in. It was traveling pretty fast like a plane.
