Olympics opening ceremony criticized for 'offensive' drag queen parody of Last Supper

Yeah, Fr. Z pointed that out as well, they were basically saying "sorry their awesomeness was so over your heads that you, in your simple minded bigotry, were offended by something that you didn't understand". One wonders why they bothered.

 

Noah Lyles won the gold medal in the 100 meters for the USA today. They are painting him as a hero.

At the beginning of tonight's primetime Olympic recap, the host gave a "shout out to Dragon Malde for giving him the energy that he needed" as she made a dragon symbol with her hands. This was in reference to Noah Lyles flashing a dragon card before the race.

Noah Lyles has flashed a Yu-Gi-oh card to the camera before each of his 3 races at the Olympics. Each time it was a different dragon card from the game.

Yu-Gi-oh is blatant in their demonic symbols...A card game and other media marketed to children.

Just another manifestation of the demonic influence in our culture, reflected in these Olympics.

Garth Brooks praised the opening ceremony. No surprise here. He previously advocated for "inclusiveness" when refusing to ban Bud Light in his bar over the transvestite controversy. I used to be a fan...Untill he divorced his first wife when they had young children.

Don’t be too quick to praise him or our current government for these moves… This is just a PR stunt for the conservative voters, they don’t really care and I doubt that at least 10% of our current government coalition believe in God…They are just using his name and the name of our “traditions” to promote and reach their goal of totally controlling this country.

Here you hear almost daily about a respected expert in his/her field, who is on some higher institutional position being fired without notice and replaced by someone with ties to the government, be it in state media/ culture/ nature protection/ police etc…

That person whom the article quotes, Taraba (also minister of enviroment), is firing people in nature reservation institutions so he has free hands in doing business with developers that want to build hotels in protected areas, selling our forest wood, putting in policies which will allow his friends to hunt bears and other normally protected animals anywhere just for the fun of it… a bad bad person.

Next, our president is secretly living homosexual lifestyle but at the same time is posting pictures in churches and church events, using the name of God in his speeches.

Our prime minister Fico (who was almost assassinated as you remember, but hasnt changed a bit since then) is a master politician and master criminal, with ties to mafia, changing his politics as it suits him. Before elections he was talking about normal life continuing in Ukraine, that there is basically no war, that we shouldnt support Ukraine with arms etc… now he doesnt want to lose european money so he supports all EU donations to Ukraine, suddenly completely changing his rhetoric.

Of course, of all his failures to meet up with his campaign promises (about better prices etc.) he will be accusing the previous government, as usual.

I must say, of all Fico’s terms in power, now they are really unhinged and have no shame at all in doing all these dirty moves… (comparing it to even last term during which an investigative journalist and his fiancee were murdered because he was looking into fraud cases of one rich person, who also had some ties to Fico).
But the people will still vote him nonetheless, major reason is his ability to manipulate people with fear and scare tactics.


Someone has asked me (maybe it way you) not long after the assasination attempt, whether its so bad regarding the division of people in Slovakia, compared to what the media are saying… I would say it is, our current government is in power thanks to that division and scare tactics which they used to promote their electoral campaign. Also our biggest media outlets, which are quite liberal, arent helping and mostly parroting the current western agenda, which is supported only mostly by young and people in the western part of the country, while painting other people that dont agree with the agenda (most of the country) as stupid sheep following the PR master Fico.

All in all, I think that people are tired and scared, some even so much that they want to take the matter to their own hands and kill the prime minister… or shoot some homosexuals (like 2 years ago) because they are brainwashed into thinking that these poor people are the danger to our society… so most of our people, scared and in need of some protector or someone who make himself appear to be a stable solution to all todays maddness, are willing to vote again for a sociopath who will trick them again and make our country poorer, while making himself richer and making it look like it’s previous government’s fault… and of course saying that he will fix everything the next term.

So much of your description could be our nation too. Or Canada. Or UK. Or France. Or Ireland. Or Australia. All post Christian nations. We are all being set up to embrace a figure who can resolve all divisions and bring "peace". Very dangerous times unless Our Lady intervenes. Pray. Pray. Pray.

 

Exactly, the more I thought about our situation here the more I realized how easy it will be for the antichrist (if he is really coming soon) to get the global support of all those scared and tired people looking for a final solution to resolve all world’s problems… people who think a mere man can solve them.

What a depressing mindset, hopefully the warning will open the eyes of those people and bring new hope to their lives (if only they are to accept it)

one devilish where the child symbolizes the innocence of man surrounded by demons

another where God is surrounded by today's saints and a sinful man who would still find mercy before God if he had not judged himself...

Gentlemen, this is a representation of heaven and hell. It should be put in textbooks and written, how you live your life you will later "eat" at that table.

The choice is yours..

 

Thanks for the lengthy reply; I know I, at least, tend to want to see a country like Slovakia (majority Catholic, still generally conservative) as some kind of earthly paradise, but, as we all know, there is no such thing.

I love Fr. Steve. He is a very courageous priest. We need more of them and we need to support them. His latest note below is spot on. I was outraged by this mockery but had not thought about a personal act of reparation. My Rosary and Mass today will be exactly for that intention. Please take a moment to read. Keep Fr. Olympic Blasphemy

I’m writing to publicly criticize the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics. I am in favor of freedom of expression and creativity in art and drama and I’m open to cultural presentations. However, freedom of expression does not justify blasphemy.

Last night at Eucharistic Adoration I stood up in front of the Blessed Sacrament in Archbishop Shaw’s Chapel and apologized to Our Lord Jesus Christ for the disgusting ridicule of the Last Supper that was part of the opening ceremonies in Paris. At the liturgy last night I led the congregation in an Act of Contrition in reparation for this terrible mockery. It was a mockery that was publicly broadcast throughout the world.

When I knelt back down, I found I had a tear in my eye. Why? Because this was an act of blasphemy on a worldwide level. Those responsible for it (the Olympic committee, the mayor of Paris, the president of France, Thomas Jolly and many others) were basically saying to Almighty God – “the hell with you”. They were making a statement to all Christians and particularly to the Catholic Church that the saving deeds of God, bestowed upon humanity by the Son of God, are a joke. They were telling God that He’s a joke and we don’t need Him. This ridiculing ceremony was basically saying to the Lord – “Heh, you are no longer anything to us. We do our own thing. We don’t want You, nor the Church, nor it’s sacraments, nor anything that You established that has guided western civilization for the last 2,000 years.” This Olympic debacle was a statement – “God you have no place in our world today.”

What was presented at that opening ceremony was an outrageous act of sin! This insult was followed by deflection from those responsible and backed by media and pundits who claim that devout Christians just don’t understand art. The enlightened liberals told us not to be intolerant and that the depiction only represented a “meal of the gods” not the Last Supper. That is an obvious lie.

Thanks to all Christians who spoke out immediately against this awful decision to blaspheme Christ and mock the Church. I might add that it’s unfortunate that the Holy Father issued the Vatican statement criticizing the ceremony over a week after it took place. Thanks, too, to all Christians for asking the Lord for forgiveness for this grave sin of blasphemy. Prayerful atonement is sorely needed.

What is blasphemy?

St. Thomas Aquinas wrote that blasphemy is a very great sin, that it’s an unbelief which is aggravated by hatred of God. The blasphemer intends to do harm to God’s honor. The social disorder and guilt caused by the sin of blasphemy – especially when it is perpetrated by those responsible for governing the community – must be rectified, both as a matter of justice to God, and as a matter of urgency for society.

This is because collective responsibility can be incurred by the social body through the crimes of its head, or through the crimes of such a number of its members as to constitute an act of the whole body. As such, the sins of leaders of a society have implications for the members.

St. Thomas explains: “All men born of Adam may be considered as one man, inasmuch as they have one common nature, … even as in civil matters, all who are members of one community are reputed as one body, and the whole community as one man. Accordingly, the multitude of men born of one man, Adam, are as many, members of one body.” (Summa I-II Q. 81.1) This text explains that we are one human community and may be justly punished together for crimes committed by the world or by its leaders, as a whole. God is infinite, and because the gravity of a sin increases according to the greatness of the person sinned against – blasphemy is a very serious sin! An infinite punishment is due for a sin committed against our Infinite God. In the bible, and in fact throughout human history, we have seen many examples of God punishing an entire community that provokes him with egregious sin.

St. Thomas Aquinas writes: “No penalty endured by man could pay God enough satisfaction for the debt of sin.” Only God Himself, if He took on human nature could repair it for us. That’s exactly what Jesus did. The passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God made man, paid the price for all of our sins. By assuming our human nature, Christ was able to offer a sacrifice to God as one of us, as man. This sacrifice is of infinite value. In dying for our sins justice for our sins was fulfilled. The otherwise unpayable debt was paid in full. Thank you, Jesus! Your great love and mercy has saved our fallen race. All Praise to Jesus – He has done very well for us!

Right now, in 2024, humanity is not totally off the hook. We need to accept salvation in Christ Jesus. We need conversion. Reparation is needed! We are obliged to make an attempt at restitution, at repairing the disorder, injustice and guilt of public blasphemy. The injury done to God can be repaired if we accept Christ, take on His mind, heart and attitude, express our sorrow for sin, avoid sin, and live devoutly and righteous in His commandments according to Divine Revelation.

After shedding a tear for a fallen world, let’s tell God we are sorry for the Olympic blasphemy. Let’s put these fools in France in their place and set things right. Make a devout Act of Contrition and shun sin and immorality. May the light of Christ shine through the darkness.

Another Olympic ceremony to offer reparation for...
The closing ceremony featured a golden demon like character, perhaps representing the Greek god apollo..they also celebrated the statue of goddess of Victory which dates back to before Jesus was born. The "goddess of victory" statue at the Louvre was believed to be on the front of a warship.

The music playing was "hymn to apollo". Apollo is the greek god of light. Simular title to Lucifer the "lightbearer" Satan.

At the end, the masses of faceless homogenized people lifted the golden demon/apollo/ god of light in a human pyramid.

There was another silver demon/false god portrayed as well but not sure who he represented.

A lot of imeragry portending war for mankind including mention of 1914 being the year the Olympic rings were presented to the world ...they were "rediscoved" from a ancient altar to a false god...the same year as the onset of WW1.

And who better to close out the closing ceremony commentary than the "flamboyant" Jonny Wier

 

I saw the clip of the weird red and gold costumed guy climb on top of the human pyramid of people in grey costumes. To me it seemed like it represented a volcano as well possibly, in North Africa. Like as if it is pre-announcing something is going to erupt there.

 

My feeling was it was humanity raising up a false god...perhaps the antichrist.
Just a side note, I watched the whole thing. I didn't see any red on him. But the way they had the mass of faceless humanity laboring and finally exaulting the apollo (god of light) figure spoke symbolically of the antichrist to my Catholic sensibilities. Humanity exalting itself.

I could be wrong but...
The same guy responsible for the opening ceremony also did this one.

The fact that lucifer means bringer of light and they make such a big deal of bringing the Olympic flame creeps me out.

Interesting that 1914 was the first world war and the official debut year of the Olympic rings...which they say represents the world's nations coming together.

Coming together under who? Certainly not God judging by the current games.

The antichrist promices peace but brings destruction.

I just found a video of the whole thing. Absolutely bizarre, they call the guy in gold a space traveler, who comes to earth in the future and re-establishes the games. But it looks like it could represent the fall of satan, because he comes down from the sky on guide wires before he is raised by by the grey costumed people. The people in grey suits are "explorers" who rediscover the games and bring them back to life, implying that human life on earth had been destroyed. The whole alien thing set off warning bells for me.

I am not expert enough in symbolism to decipher this one, but Apollo is a good estimation IMO. I know that Apollyon in Revelation 9:11 is Apollo.

Revelation 9:11 They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).

It sure looked like he was a king of an abyss in the video. I also had the same anti-christ thought come up.

 

All that rings with me on this Apollo is I do remember reading in Bible, one who once was will return
