Some of you have been following the heart wrenching situation of my dear friend and spiritual director, Fr. Tony. He had terminal stage IV metastasic malignant melanoma. I left his side at the hospice in Winder Pennsylvania last night and came home to Virginia to try to get a good nights sleep before heading back up to the hospice today, Sunday. His brother just called and said Fr. Tony passed away peacefully just moments ago, with his sister Peg at his side. He was a good, faithful, orthodox and kind priest, and he was my dear close friend. He will be greatly missed. Please in your charity pray for the repose of his soul.
Eternal rest grant to him, o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace. Amen.
I sympathise with you on your loss. You have been a steadfast friend. God bless you and the bed of heaven to Fr Tony. He will be in my prayers.
Our sincerest condolences. We will be offering up our Mass later today for the repose of the soul of Fr Tony. What a blessed priest who now must be sharing in the glories of heaven.
Oh Brian, I've just seen this after I posted on the other thread. I will have Mass offered for tge repose of Fr. Tony's soul. My deepest sympathy to you and all those who mourn his passing. May he rest in peace.
So sorry for your loss of such a good friend. I will add him to my daily prayer list. Jesus I trust in You.
I am only just seeing this. I will certainly pray. Brian please rest. Take care of your physical well being. You must. Prayers for you as well.
Thanks all. When I got there yesterday he could no longer talk and motioned to me weakly. Despite his advanced degenerative neurological state, when I bent over to give him a hug he brightened immediately and gripped me in a bear hug. He then held onto my hand tightly for hours, even when he seemed to be unconscious. I don’t know how he managed the strength for it as he passed on less than 24 hours later.
Sirach 6:14 A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter: he that has found one has found a treasure. 15 There is nothing so precious as a faithful friend, and no scales can measure his excellence. 16 A faithful friend is an elixir of life; and those who fear the Lord will find him. Thank you for being there for him, Brian! Eternal rest grant to Fr. Tony, O Lord!
