If that had anything to do with Fatima, the Pope would be dead.

ISIS (the Islamic State in Syria aka John Kerry's friendly rebels) is a US/Israel/Saudi ally in Syria fighting Assad. Indonesia is one of the more moderate Islamic countries for Christians and there are indications it is considering applying to join BRICS. The three letter agencies do their homework. The arrows were a clever touch,

I was answering HH's question about what prophecy involves bows and arrows and a pope. I have no opinion on this latest supposed assassination plot on the pope.

I've found that trying to figure out everything going on in the world just steals my peace. God's in control.

So you were. I'm sorry to have overlooked that.

The prophecy of a Pope being shot with arrows is only relevant now to those who believe that Russia has not been consecrated properly. They tend to have a very literal interpretation of the vision of a Pope walking uphill in a city littered with dead bodies. For their literal interpretation to happen, the Pope would have to die from arrow wounds in a physically ruined city.

Carmelite posted a video from Our Lady's Blue Army where Carlos Evaristo discusses meetings with Sr. Lucia. Mr. Evaristo goes all around the world for sport to make his point but he did say clearly that Sr. Lucia told him that the triumph of the Immaculate Heart began when St. John Paul was shot and Our Lady deflected the bullet. There is no outstanding prophecy involving a Pope and arrows.

The assassination plot against Pope Francis has nothing to do with Catholic prophecy.

Pope Francis visited East Timor and Singapore as well as Indonesia and one or two other countries. East Timor (I think the official name is Timor-Leste) is the second poorest country in Asia, war torn Myanmar being the poorest. Over 90 percent of East Timorese are Catholic but there are concerns of a growing apathy towards the faith among the young people. A Bishop who was strongly linked to the independence struggle is now accused of sexual abuse.

A former Portuguese colony, the percentage of Catholics in East Timor was much lower during Portuguese times. Indonesia invaded after the Portuguese pulled out and the Indonesians committed terrible atrocities against the locals. One reason given for the invasion was that Communism would gain a foothold. Instead, Catholicism grew during the oppression and the Church was seen to be on the side of the struggle for independence. St. John Paul visited during the Indonesian occupation and his visit brought the world's attention to their plight. They got their independence, fences were mended with Indonesia and good relations restored. Their main source of income is oil and gas which is very much depleted and they are looking to tourism as a source of revenue. I think they were hoping that the Pope's visit would help promote East Timor as a tourist destination. East Timor has also been trying to join the ASEAN trading group but Singapore is blocking them. Perhaps the Pope put in a good word for them with the leader of Singapore.

Powerful interests that would benefit from Islamic violence against Christians have been gaining a foothold in Indonesia. Nobody would benefit more from a Catholic Pope being assassinated in an Islamic country by Muslims using arrows per an ultra literal interpretation of a Catholic prophecy than those committing genocide against mostly Muslims and their supporters of the "better to fight them over there" persuasion.

My first response to your excellent post is to wonder if Christ's sacrifice is sufficient to transform some weeds into fruit-sufficient ground not to pull them up straight away.

Lord Jesus, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all souls into Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy Mercy.

In general, Mohammedans 'got along' with Christians and Jews throughout history. From what I have recently read (excerpts from the Talmud, E. Michael Jones, Israel Shahak, Israel Shamir), Jews have always hated Christians far more than Muslims have and Jews hate Christians far more than they hate anyone else. Given the current events in Jewish-occupied Palestine, who stands to benefit most from dividing Christians and Muslims? Is it not the case that US neo-cons (dominated by Zionist Jews) have been primarily responsible for sponsoring Al Queda and ISIS?

I'd have more respect for them for being damned for doing than for not doing, if you catch my drift. Why can't they just say that child abuse was selected out in particular by Christ Jesus as a millstone-necklace requiring sin, that all perpetrators should have been immediately excommunicated, defrocked and reported to the secular authorities instead of being protected and sent for 'treatment' to psychological quacks and remind people that sex is only licit when open to life between married male/female couples?

As Whatever says, this was no specific part of what was very precisely specific Fatima prophesy, but it was surely a sign of Marian/Christic favour. If it wasn't a miracle, I'm a monkey's uncle (not excluding the possibility I am one, regardless)!

    Agree.
Also I find it strange that a priest calling on people to go to confession and repent of the sins of our times is silenced by his Bishop. I refer to Fr Sheehy. Nothing is mentioned about the 10,000 + children murdered in our hospitals last year. I am tired of hearing statements at church ceremonies welcoming everyone, gay, straight etc..
They had better have a very good excuse when they stand before the Lord.

If it was simply cowardice (and who am I to claim I'd be any braver?), the bishop in question would simply have put his head down, at worst waffled a few ambiguous statements and waited anxiously until the storm blew over; but he chose to take sides, quite promptly if I recall correctly, and I can't for the life of me see this as being the side of Christ. As Bob Dylan sang, "you've got to serve somebody, it might be the devil or The Lord", but it's one or the other, nobody can remain aloof. If you're not serving Christ, who's your boss?

The arrows in the vision and the death of the pope could be symbolic of destruction, a symbolic death of the papacy through the apostasy we are currently experiencing in the present pontificate, which became glaring with the appointment of Victor Fernandez to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, disregarding his past when he wrote a blasphemous book about our Lord. The "Catholics" who tried to put out the fire of this scandal for the Church might not be much better than most of the Western leaders they claim to fight against.

Nevertheless, there is, in a way, an impressive accuracy regarding the vision of Fatima in this failed attack against Pope Francis. Perhaps there is a future prophetic scenario in which a struggle between Islamic radicalism and Catholicism arises, reminiscent of the Battle of Lepanto, when there was no scapegoat to divert attention from the verses of hatred in the Quran against Jews and Christians, which motivated some critical remarks by Benedict XVI in 2006.

Latest reports that I can find seem to indicate that Armageddon has been put on hold...for now. Biden/Starmer seem to have blinked first, following Putin's warning.

If so, thanks be to God.

Are they still shilly-shallying around the abuse scandals? I didn't know. Maybe the lawyers see something on the horizon - something like a land/property grab of schools built on Church grounds or some large properties in prime city locations?

They should be more worried about the Truths of the Faith than their property. They have too much property now anyway, and insufficient money to maintain it all. Better they lose everything worldly, but regain their respect.

Purely guesswork on my part, but I suspect that the government won't want to fork out money to build new schools in towns throughout Ireland. They will need school buildings for children of non-Catholic immigrants. The current situation whereby Catholic schools can't restrict new enrolments to Catholics won't cover situations where parents of other religions want their own faith based schools especially when inevitably they will be the majority in small towns.

Mario Draghi made it clear that Europe can't sustain itself with its low fertility rate - a birth rate of about 1.5. I think he said something along the lines of the whole thing collapsing by 2050. Mother Teresa said it best: the culture that murders its young has no future.

Yes, the Bishops should have paid more attention to the Faith than property and experts of secular mindset. Catholic schools are useless if they make no attempt to teach the faith. For what it's worth, there seem to be signs of an attempt to catechise children with Sunday school in some parishes. Not much but it's a start in a country where "Catholic" means some vague cultural thing from past generations that has little relevance in these progressive times.
