Today in Garabandal history: November 27, 1962. "The apparitions happened normally, that is to say on Tuesday the 27th and Wednesday the 28th Conchita and Loli had apparitions and so did Jacinta, who had one by herself. Loli had one all of these days except one, and Mari Cruz continued without having any since August 28th of this year. On the 27th, the day of the miraculous medal, the three girls had an apparition beginning when the rosary ended and lasting 165 minutes." From : Fr. Valentin's Journal, part 3
Wonderful. Yes, today, November 27, is the Feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Regarding the Miracle, it seems likely to me that Conchita will return to Garabandal to make the announcement. Given her celebrity status, we will likely know she has travelled to Garabandal, and it will be clear some days in advance of the 8 days that the announcement is coming. I, personally, believe this will occur in the 2030s.
I 100 % disagree with this statement. You don't know her at all. She will avoid going there as she seeks no notority, or the chaos her presence there will cause.
Today in Garabandal History NOVEMBER 28, 1963: For the second time this month, when the locutions began, each of the two visionaries was unaware that her companion was going through the same spiritual experience. CONCHITA'S AND MARI-LOLI'S LOCUTIONS The Blessed Virgin spoke to the two visionaries about Felipe Sobrado, a priest martyr of the Spanish Civil War, and whose remains were transferred to the church of Pontejoz, on November 18, 1963 precisely. "He will not be canonized, but through his intercession God will perform miracles" said the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel to Conchita. The locutions always came when Conchita and Loli were praying. The most important ones were given them at the church after they had received Holy Communion. Photo: Conchita & Loli 1965
Correct, I don't know Conchita. I just figured she'd want to be present for the Miracle. If you say she won't travel to Garabandal, I'll take your word for it.
Today in Garabandal history : November 29,1966 (A foreshadowing of Mary's future prediction of "many priests are on the road to perdition " ) Notes recorded by Mother Nieves ( the directress of Conchita's college ) "Conchita's Recollections" Conchita: " I remember a young priest of the Heart of Mary, to whom I wanted to give the crucifix to kiss, drew back, and weeping said, I am not worthy, I am not worthy . . . When I had finished seeing the Virgin, I went up to him and, apart from everyone, communicated to him what she had told me. He wants to take off the habit and leave the congregation. On hearing this, he began to cry again. I've never seen him since."
November of 1966, Conchita wrote this to Rev. Mother Maria des Nieves. “ Just before the Blessed Virgin was about to leave us, she would give us a kiss. We did not feel any material contact, nor could we go any further because something was preventing us from doing so. We wanted to touch her but when our hands got close to her, they wouldn’t touch anything, nor go any further. We have held the infant Jesus in our arms, but we couldn’t feel his weight, nor any material contact, although he was truly there”. -From : “The Village Speaks”, by Ramon Perez, pg. 25
ADVENT & LENT As we begin the “Advent season”, I want you to think about how it mirrors Lent. Both are times of preparation for meeting Jesus. During Lent we focus on sacrifice and penance in preparation for celebrating the risen Christ. Here during Advent , we too should be focused again on sacrifice and penance for celebrating the birth of the infant Jesus . Think of what you can offer him this season for a change. - Glenn Our Lady's 1st Message of Garabandal :October 18, 1961-- “We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives.
December 3,1966 From " Conchita's Diary" ( Why Mary visits ) "When I think about the Virgin, I picture her as something I dreamed. How nice it would be if now she would come here in this parlor with the two of us! What a joy! It isn't necessary to be perfect to see her. I have been a girl with many faults. On the day on which the Angel appeared to us, I had just fought with Jacinta. And I see that today I still don't like to pray. She comes to make us good ."
A description of life in Garabandal in 1961. In the days when our story starts, the Chief of Police in the district of Rio Nansa was Juan Alvarez Seco. This is his description: "Garabandal is a little mountain town made up of about seventy families. The customs of its inhabitants are primarily religious. For example, they never forget to recite the Angelus as soon as the clock shows twelve noon. In the evening they always recite the holy rosary in the church. This is led by the parish priest if he is present; if not, the schoolteacher or another villager leads it. As night falls, Jacinta's mother, the wife of Simon, goes around the village with a lantern and bell to call the people to pray for the dead and say the last prayers of the day. On Sundays after assisting at Holy Mass in the ancient simple church, the people take a little recreation. In the evening the young people gather under the porch roofs or the open sky and sing or amuse themselves to the sound of a tambourine." “ She went in haste to the Mountain” Book 1, page 19
Yes, when I was a wee one growing up on Primrose Avenue in Syracuse (a block which dead-ended at McKinley playground), but before the arrival of the TV, it was customary for families to sit out on their porches on summer evenings and visit with one another. Alas, when the TV became the norm, neighbors tended to watch it inside their homes on those summer evenings.
