Infinite Horizons James McCaffreys OCD. It is described as 'Scripture through Carmelite eyes'. It's a look at various Carmelite Saints and how scripture influenced their thinking and charism

With God in Russia by Father Walter Cisek S.J. and also He Leadeth Me by Father Walter Cisek S.J. both are about Father's time in the Soviet Union, but I found With God in Russia to be more astonishing.
Just finished St Catherine Laboure of the Miraculous Medal by Fr Joseph I Dirwin. It’s quite an old book but was revived by TAN Books. The style is a bit flowery but it’s a wonderful read. St Catherine insisted on total anonymity during her life so her fellow sisters didn’t know she was the visionary although some suspected. I hadn’t realised how Communism had begun to spread so early. This fits with the Holy Face devotion which was intended partly as a counter to ‘the revolutionary men’ also in France. The book The Golden Arrow tells the story of Sr Mary of St Peter who received this devotion. I really believe this devotion is for our time. It was quite popular in America but then seemed to fizzle out. The only church I ever knew named after the Holy Face was in Maryland. A book about Leo DuPont is called The Holy Man of Tours. He spread devotion to the Holy Face and is considered the greatest channel of miracles in Church history. He’s not at all well known though.
https://www.amazon.com/Incredible-Catholic-Mass-Explanation/dp/0895556081 I am almost finished with the above book. It is amazing. Mass has not been the same for me since reading it. It will be required reading for my kids at an appropriate age, maybe early high school.
Many wonderful recommendations here by different people, thank you all! Dear Philotea, this last recommendation by you, I was not aware of this book by Fr. Martin von Cochem. It seems to be a great read for our family, so I have ordered it right away. God bless!
I don't know if I can also recommend movies? There are really a lot of great Catholic and Bible movies out there. Passion is known to everyone as one of the best films in general. If we take movies that depict the lives of saints, then I would recommend a few of them, not necessarily by quality order. 1) St Joseph of Cupertino The Reluctant Saint (1962) 2) The Song of Bernadette (1943) 3) Miracle of Marcelino (1955) - spanish 4) Padre Pio (2000) - italian 5) Saint Philip Neri: I Prefer Heaven (TV Movie 2010) - italian 6) Don Bosco (TV Movie 2004) - italian 7) The Scarlet and the Black (1983) 8) Karol - The Pope, the Man (TV Movie 2006) - polish I personally don't like dubbing, but I prefer when the film is in the original language with subtitles. Padre Pio is unwatchable in English, but in Italian it's somehow natural and fluent. At least for me, maybe it's different for someone else...
