Have you ever met Cardinal Burke? I'm so surprised that you would slander him in such a way. He is such a good and holy prelate, orthodox in his teaching, full of faith, constantly calling people to prayer, and always respectful of the pope even while asking him for clarification (the Dubia). Have you gone to the shrine to the Blessed Mother he had built, to see what's dear to his heart? Have you held his hands while he prayed for you like a kind and loving father? If you had, you wouldn't be accusing him of criticizing the pope for money. Maybe some people are doing that, but you can't lump all of the "vetus ordo" into that accusation. Besides, you're doing the very same thing you're accusing others of doing. God dearly loves ALL kinds of sinners, even the pharasaical ones, whom He chastises as a good father would his children. Remember on the Cross, Christ prayed for those who killed Him "Father, forgive them; they know not what they do." We're all trying to make sense of the mess of a world and Church we find ourselves in. It's very, very hard, because we love our Church very much and we are human, not perfect in our Faith. We're here to try to encourage one another to hold fast to the Faith as it's been handed down to us, to stay in the Ship that is Holy Mother Church, and to pray, pray, pray for our Church, the world, and each other. Like any family, we'll have our differences of opinion and have to debate each other on certain points, but it's important to remember that we ourselves don't know everything. I'm always having to get onto myself about that!
Please provide evidence that Cardinal Burke "preferred to accept the salary and apartment again," and "changed his mind." I've never heard that and can't find that info anywhere. Also please show evidence of any kind of uncharitable criticism of the pope by Cardinal Burke. He absolutely has the right and duty as a cardinal of the Church to give fraternal correction of error, far more than any of us laity do, and I have never seen him do so without tact and charity. And yes, Christ called out the Pharisees for their sin, and He also asked His Father to forgive them, for they knew not what they did. If you're willing to extend understanding and mercy to homosexuals, then you should be willing to extend the same to "pharisees." The sin of the "pharisee" is pride and thinking they know better than everyone else, which we all struggle with in varying degrees, wouldn't you agree?
Yes that is about the recent false AI video of Cardinal Burke supposedly criticizing the pope, which he did not do.
You're not reading scripture in the context of its entirety and are selectively reading it. What does it mean when Jesus told the adulterous woman to "sin no more"? Why didn't Jesus bless adultery like the Popes with sodomy? The sin of the pharisees was that of pride, or you could say a lack of humility. This doesn't suddenly make the sins of others go away. The tax collector in the back of the synagogue recognized his sinful nature and asked for help, which is why Jesus praised him in relation to the Pharisee. He didn't ask God to bless his sins! The path to Grace closes when we sin, which is to go contrary to the Will of God.
There were four Cardinals who submitted their concerns to Pope Francis in writing called the “Dubia.” Pope Francis never answered them. Two of the Cardinals have passed away.
I have always found Cardinal Burke to be a very faithful son of the Church? Could you explain how Burke is flirting with excommunication please?
Hello Sam. He’s no longer on the verge of excommunication because he no longer criticizes the Pope. In the past, it was. I, for example, think that Popes Benedict, Francis, and Leo are beloved children of God. Don’t you think so?
I think you are a troll and are trolling like crazy. I am seriously thinking about booting you right off the forum. Don't try my patience.
I'm not sure what your mission here is, but it doesn't seem to be from God, as it's full of gossip, untruth, and telling others they are Pharisees while acting like one yourself. You have not shared your heart with us, only your superiority and judgment. If you are hoping to help others, it is better to do so out of love. As it is, you can't be trusted, because you've already been caught spreading false information about a good and holy cardinal.
I did not want to jump into this discussion, Mariaba, because I realize that our opinions are shaped by the sources of news and information on which we depend, but... Cardinal Burke is one who has served as a USA bishop, the St. Louis diocese being one example. But it is his deep and humble devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and his call for universal prayer and penitence to help address the troubled times in which we live, that has touched my heart most directly. Certainly, he is most widely known as one of four prelates who publicly stood against Pope Francis' stand in Amoris Laetitia (regarding divorced and remarried Catholics receiving Holy Communion), a stand that has resulted in many Catholics doing so without obtaining the prerequisite annulment (which the Church has traditionally taught stains the soul with mortal sin). This confusion is one of the worst scandals of the 21st century! It took courage to speak up on that occasion, and in witnessing the responses from various Bishop Conferences, the sad divide and the decline in orthodoxy among worldwide prelates, was revealed. May Cardinal Burke's love of Truth and his devotion to our Blessed Mother be an example to us all!
Just to let you know I've been in touch with BrianK, who as a podiatrist has provided great advise in regard to my mobility issues concerning the fracture in my right foot. He has concurred that a Jones fracture is one of the worst debilitating injuries, but following his advice, I just purchased a scooter that will provide much more mobility not only outside my home but also at home itself. So I can set aside the walker and speed up my recovery by eliminating 90% or more of my weight-bearing activity! Not in the bathroom, but virtually everywhere else. Praise God! Say a prayer of thanks for our in-house podiatrist!
Offering up Mass to St Raphael this morning for your healing this morning at Santiago De Compestello. I am sorry I did not understand it was so bad.
Well, I can't complain too much. Though my Holy Mass attendance has been reduced to once a week, my home has been converted into a hermitage with my own personal nurse. I'll just have to set up traffic signals now so I avoid running over Geralyn!
