There was a gubernatorial election this past Tuesday in Virginia and the candidate who lost the election was the one who said “abortion is wicked.” I might have misquoted. She may have used the word “evil”. No surprise there.
its so Intersting you had this experience here. As you may know, its where our accident happened last year. I have come to believe ( rather it has been placed in my mind) that the young lady who hit us was so drunk because and these are words i have used to describe her situation... she was in a "living hell". She tried to get away from it on her own through drinking. And, my wife, sister in law, and I were just coming from Holy Mass (a Latin Mass- one i never attended ) and Adoration when the crash happened. Pardon the pun, but with God there are no accidents. I know He allowed this to serve a Good. I see fruits in my life and family but am coming more and more to wonder did He also allow this for thus young woman. Maybe it was her only way out of hell? I pray ( and ask you pray for me) that i can cooperate with God- offer up my pain- i pray this young lady now in prison for 10 years has Jesus in her heart, mind and soul. I told her at sentencing that I forgive her and I hope to see her in Heaven, maybe on your journeys, PF , someone saw your holy family and you were a sign if hope in the "hells" people are living in ? Maybe its all we can do in this world. Pray and be signs of Jesus to others.
Ah no, I didn't realize you were in Virginia! You know, I say in general the light has gone out in Virginia, but I know as with everywhere, there are little pockets of Faith and hope still carrying the torch. Our main reason for visiting Virginia was because our favorite priest from our FSSP parish was transferred to the FSSP in Richmond. He is most certainly a light in this world. He loves God and others so much... My husband and I always said that this priest was destined to be a pastor and that his future flock was going to be so blessed to have him. He has that quality to him that makes you think he's going to be a saint. Anyway, I believe God sent him to Virginia to reignite that flame. And those of you with Faith, even if you aren't all that visible in the public eye, just your prayerful presence and life lived for God can save so many souls around you. All hope is not lost!
We live in NY and were visiting my sil in Richmond. The Mass we attended just before accident was at St. Josephs- FSSP . Our last rites and apostolic pardon was given by FSSP priest.
Yep, that's the one...St. Joseph's! We attended Mass there for 3 days. Have you been back at all recently? You must go meet the new pastor! You'll love him! Eta: I just realized your SIL passed, right? I'm so sorry. Perhaps you won't be taking any more trips to Richmond. I know you're still recovering.
Wonderful! I will. Our niece and her family active there! And I will have special affinity for Fr Marsoille (sp?) who was transferred in July
This is a wonderful post. And it struck a chord with me. My husband and I took a trip to " the County" a few days ago. The northernmost County in Maine and so vast its simply known as The County. I had never been there before. It was SO beautiful. Clean pristine farms and beautiful little towns. One place more beautiful than the other. And the air was so clean. The light was Luminous. I was struggling to figure it out. I commented on how clean and pure everything seemed to my husband. As I was speaking that inner voice said quietly " and it is spiritually clean as well" Wow! And then I remembered Fr Roux of the Marian Movement priests operated from the County. And I thought of the strong faith of the Franco Americans and the strong faith of all the Baptists and I realized there was still that light you speak of shining bright. It was quite an experience.
The last time I was in Maine I wasn’t able to visit Fr Roux. Is he still alive? What a gift for Maine to have him there.
Im Sorry to say he died in 2023 at 85 years of age. Very sad for all of us but very happy for him. He was a very holy priest.
It's interesting, because Musk was one of the early backers of OpenAI. He was kicked out because he wanted safeguards for humans. The reason he started Grok is because he is worried about AI and wants to bet them there and have a voice in keeping it safe. He is actually a good guy in this fight it appears, the one who realizes dangers.
And he is an extremely articulate commentator on current events in the US and in the world. I have taken to listening to Mind to goals podcast on you tube.
Yeah, it's hard to know what is going on these days. Elon could very well be on the side of good, especially since we still have freedom of speech on his platform. However, even on X it seems like my timeline is curated with filler. Maybe there isn't much happening in the world or it isn't being reported, I really don't know. Then there is the fact that grok AI fabricated several things in response to a question I gave it recently.
I talked the other day with the lady who sometimes bring my Amazon deliveries to the door...and she was very unhappy and worried for her job. She said there are about to be mass layoffs in Amazon because they're being replaced with AI and robots. She said driverless Amazon trucks are already on the road, and more drones will be making deliveries. I was so sad for her, as she was saying my house is her favorite to deliver to because my kids always come out to greet her. People are losing their jobs and their warm human interactions because of AI. Today I tried to call Sears to check on something about my scheduled appointment to fix my broken fridge, and I couldn't get anyone but AI. I kept saying, "I want to speak with an associate," but "Samantha," Sears' AI, kept telling me in a condescending tone that there are no associates available, there's nothing they would know that she doesn't, and if I dont want to talk with her, she'll just end the phone call.
